SIDA é a principal causa de morte nos homens de idade compreendida entre os 25 e os 44 anos nos Estado Unidos. É, portanto, razoável acreditar que aqueles que apresentam sintomas aos 25 anos tenham contraído HIV durante a sua adolescência e ao início da sua juventude. Assim, é urgente que sejam definidas e desenvolvidas estratégias que tenham em conta os adolescentes, na sua particularidade. Estudos têm colhido importante informação concernente ao conhecimento sobre HIV/SIDA e relacionados comportamentos de risco entre imigrantes que estudam nas escolas públicas de Boston 1, mas nenhum estudo focou ainda adolescentes de origem cabo-verdiana, nascidos nos Estados Unidos de América (USA) ou imigrantes.

Change of individual BMI in Switzerland and the USA: a multilevel model for growth

Objective The aim is to analyze and compare individual BMI growth patterns of adults from Switzerland and the U.S. Methods The analyses are based on data from two population representative longitudinal household surveys, one from Switzerland, the other from the U.S. Each data set contains up to four data points for each adult individual. We use multilevel models for growth. Results It can be shown that growth patterns are different in different cohorts in the two countries: there are only small growth differences in the youngest and oldest, but large differences in the middle ages. The individual BMI increase of the middle age Swiss amounts to only half of that in the comparable U.S. individuals. Conclusion Given the much higher BMI level especially in the youngest cohort, this points to severe obesity problems in the U.S. middle aged population in the near future. A positive correlation between individual BMI level and growth may aggravate this fact.

Hipertextualidad, multimedialidad, interactividad y publicidad en la prensa digital internacional. El caso de ‘Le Monde’, ‘USA Today’, ‘Clarín’ Y ‘The Telegraph'

Aquest treball té com a objecte l’anàlisi de la implantació de la hipertextualitat, la multimedialitat, la interactivitat i la publicitat com a elements vertebradors de la premsa digital internacional. Primerament, es descriuen de forma teòrica els meritats elements. A continuació, es presenten els resultats de l’estudi empíric desenvolupat, analitzant els anteriors factors, sobre quatre capçaleres digitals internacionals. Finalment, concloem que la implantació de les variables estudiades es troba en fase d'expansió, tot i que encara lluny del nivell òptim d'explotació; també que els diaris europeus són més proclius a fomentar l'ús de la hipertextualitat, mentre els americans prefereixen la multimedialitat; que els principals problemes a superar seran les formes tradicionals de pensar i treballar així com la falta d'inversió generalitzada i, per acabar, que el futur passarà per continuar en la línia de treball sense oblidar-se d'evolucionar.

AbstractThis article demonstrates the importance of Angela Carter's translations of Charles Perrault's contes into English and argues for their profound influence on her subsequent literary career. Against feminist critics who rejected fairy tales as conservative and informed by patriarchal structures and values, Carter reclaimed Perrault for feminism by recovering the critical edge and emancipating potential of his Histoires ou contes du temps passé, Avec des Moralités. This essay shows, through a comparative reading of "La Belle au bois dormant" and "The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood," that Carter opposed the worldly "politics of experience" that she found in Perrault to the Disneyfied imagery of the Sleeping Beauty myth and modernized the critique of early marriages already contained in Perrault's Moralités. The subversive power of Carter's work, therefore, is not directed against Perrault but rather toward cultural and commercial appropriations of the fairy tale, which promote a naïve view of marriage.Recommended CitationHennard Dutheil de la Rochère, Martine. The decay of orthopositronium into three photons produces a physical realization of a pure state with three-party entanglement. Its quantum correlations are analyzed using recent results on quantum information theory, looking for the final state that has the maximal amount of Greenberger, Horne, and Zeilinger like correlations. This state allows for a statistical dismissal of local realism stronger than the one obtained using any entangled state of two spin one-half particles.
