A Biologia Sistêmica visa a compreensão da vida através de modelos integrativos que enfatizem as interações entre os diferentes agentes biológicos. O objetivo é buscar por leis universais, não nas partes componentes dos sistemas mas sim nos padrões de interação dos elementos constituintes. As redes complexas biológicas são uma poderosa abstração matemática que permite a representação de grandes volumes de dados e a posterior formulação de hipóteses biológicas. Nesta tese apresentamos as redes biológicas integradas que incluem interações oriundas do metabolismo, interação física de proteínas e regulação. Discutimos sua construção e ferramentas para sua análise global e local. Apresentamos também resultados do uso de ferramentas de aprendizado de máquina que nos permitem compreender a relação entre propriedades topológicas e a essencialidade gênica e a previsão de genes mórbidos e alvos para drogas em humanos

Hypertension is a disease that affects a large part of the world population, in which the treatment consists in changing habits of life, which include diet, weight loss and smoking cessation, among others, attending the physical activity outstanding recommendations, supported by its positive effects on the maintenance of blood pressure levels within the limits of normality. Objective: To characterize the post-exercise hypotensive response on individuals with hypertension. Method: Literature review from 1990 to 2011, searching the electronic databases MEDLINE, ScIELO, Lilacs and Cochrane. Articles were selected using keywords hypertension, physical exercise and high blood pressure. Results: One session of physical activity promotes the reduction of arterial hypertension, which is called post-exercise hypotension. However, this phenomenon will depend on some related factors such as the type, intensity and duration of exercise. Conclusion: The performance of activity and/or physical exercise is important in non-pharmacological treatment for lowering blood pressure, but is not yet defined the best type of exercise.

As características estruturais de sonogéis obtidos a partir da hidrólise ácida do TEOS estimulada por ultrasom foram estudadas por espalhamento de raios-x a baixo ângulo (SAXS). O estudo inclui: i) o processo de agregação em diferentes temperaturas; ii) o envelhecimento dos géis úmidos na fase líquida de preparação e depois da troca da fase líquida por álcool e acetona; iii) a secagem dos géis; iv) a estrutural evolução de xerogéis e aerogéis com o tratamento térmico até 1100 oC; e v) um estudo comparativo usando SAXS e adsorção de nitrogênio na caracterização de aerogéis e xerogéis... O protetor solar é um produto extremamente importante para proteger a pele da radiação ultravioleta proveniente do sol e capaz de reduzir a incidência de câncer de pele. Os filtros solares são divididos em orgânicos e inorgânicos e, dentre os inorgânicos, se encontra o TiO2 que atua refletindo, espalhando e absorvendo as radiações UV, além de ser fotoestável e de baixo potencial de irritabilidade dérmica. Neste trabalho foram desenvolvidas formulações cosméticas em forma de gel contendo nanopartículas de dióxido de titânio capazes de agir como fotoprotetores físicos e que mantem a transparência ao serem aplicados sobre uma superfície, como a pele. Foram desenvolvidos xerogéis a base de nanopartículas de TiO2 com tamanho e superfície controlados. A partir dessas nanopartículas foi possível preparar formulações cosméticas contendo nanopartículas redispersas de xerogéis a base de TiO2. Esses sistemas foram avaliados por testes de citotoxicidade e foi obtido um resultado favorável para a continuidade da pesquisa, sugerindo o uso deste material em humanos sem causar danos. Foram feitas as caracterizações físico químicas e estruturais. A análise de FPS indicou amplo espectro da formulação, o potencial zeta mostrou que é possível evitar aglomerações das nanopartículas em pHs utilizados para formulações tópicas, a reologia demonstrou que as formulações apresentam comportamento de recuperação da consistência e organização do material inicial após seu desarranjo durante o cisalhamento. As caracterizações serviram para obter um conhecimento da estrutura química e física das amostras que contém as nanopartículas de dióxido de titânio, para que seja possível fazer uma análise crítica e melhor qualificar o protetor solar desenvolvido.

This study characterizes the city of Cristais Paulista (SP) the occurrence of lithologies formal and allostratigraphic units (new sedimentary deposits) and soil, through mapping, determining the material properties in laboratory and field, based on the data it is proposed evolutionary pattern for the residual material weathered and transported (allostratigraphic units), with the integration of the all data was generated as a final product Zoning Geoenvironmental in the study area is an important tool for urban planning area.

During the twentieth century the inorganic electronics was largely developed being present in various industrial equipment or household use. However, at the end of that century were verified electronic properties in organic compounds, giving rise to the field of organic electronics. Since then, the physical properties of elementary devices such as diodes and organic transistors have been studied. In this work was studied the properties of diode devices fabricated with a semiconductor polymer, the poly-o-methoxyaniline (POMA). Devices containing electrodes of Au and Al were fabricated with semiconductor polymer of different doping levels. We found that the rectifying behavior for the heterojunctions metal/polimer are reached only for high doping level (with conductivity greater than 1,77. 10-9 S / cm), which gives the devices characteristic of a Schottky diode. The rectifying behavior was observed for electric fields of low magnitude, below the operating field (~ 600 V/cm), while for electric field greater than 600 V/cm the a linear behavior I vs.V was obtained. We determined that this Ohmic behavior arises from the charge transport over the volume of the semiconductor material after the lowering of the metal/semiconductor barrier. In devices with weakly doped semiconductor, the electrical resistance of the volume becomes high and the process of charge transportation is dominated by the volume, for any intensity of the applied electric field

In recent years the aeronautic industries has increased investment in areas of technological research aiming at materials that offer better performance, safety, weight reduction and fuel consumption. For this reason the most studied materials are polymeric materials, due to their higher mechanical strength and higher stiffness. This work evaluated characteristics of two composite laminates produced from the same process, but they differed only in regions where the resin was injected and the vacuum position. The composite laminates were SC-79 resin reinforced with glass fiber fabric (plain weave) processed via VARTM. For this reason the material was subjected to mechanical tests such as: tensile, and fatigue following standards ASTM D 3039 and ASTM D 3479, respectively. The latter was observed the S-N curve. It was performed the ultrassonic C-scan analysis to check impregnation of the fiber. Considering that the process was the same for the two laminates, with small variations in the injection and in vacum ports, it was expected to find similar characteristics

The reducionism method has helped in the clari cation of functioning of many biological process. However, such process are extremely complex and have emergent properties that can not be explained or even predicted by reducionism methods. To overcome these limits, researchers have been used a set of methods known as systems biology, a new area of biology aiming to understand the interactions between the multiple components of biological processes. These interactions can be represented by a mathematical object called graph or network, where the interacting elements are represented by a vertex and the interactions by edges that connect a pair of vertexes. Into graphs it is possible to nd subgraphs, occurring in complex networks at numbers that are signi cantly higher than those in randomized networks, they are de ned as motifs. As motifs in biological networks may represent the structural units of biological processess, their detection is important. Therefore, the aim of this present work was detect, count and classify motifs present in biological integrated networks of bacteria Escherichia coli and yeast Saccharomyces cere- visiae. For this purpose, we implemented codes in MathematicaR and Python environments for detecting, counting and classifying motifs in these networks. The composition and types of motifs detected in these integrated networks indicate that such networks are organized in three main bridged modules composed by motifs in which edges are all the same type. The connecting bridges are composed by motifs in which the types of edges are diferent
