Marc présente l'identité divine de Jésus comme se dévoilant malgré lui. Jésus fait taire ceux qui la révèlent, qu'il s'agisse des démons ou de ses disciples. William Wrede a tenté d'expliquer cet état de fait à l'aide de la théorie du "secret messianique". Marc attribuerait à Jésus une stratégie de voilement intentionnel de sa filiation divine. L'auteur s'oppose à Wrede à l'aide de catégories empruntées à l'anthropologie culturelle: dans l'Antiquité, l'identité est attribuée par une instance ayant statut d'autorité. Par conséquent, le comportement manifesté par Jésus dans l'Evangile de Marc n'est pas l'expression d'une stratégie particulière mais le comportement attendu d'un individu qui respecte les règles d'attribution de l'honneur. De plus, Marc est méfiant à l'égard du titre "Christ" attribué à Jésus et préfère le titre "Fils de Dieu" compris au sens prophétique. Enfin, la raison qui pousse l'évangéliste à écrire résiderait dans la nécessité de défendre la légitimité de la tradition de sa communauté face à d'autres groupes chrétiens plus apostoliques.

Urine samples from 20 male volunteers of European Caucasian origin were stored at 4 degrees C over a 4-month period in order to compare the identification potential of nuclear DNA (nDNA) and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) markers. The amount of nDNA recovered from urines dramatically declined over time. Consequently, nDNA likelihood ratios (LRs) greater than 1,000 were obtained for 100, 70 and 55% of the urines analysed after 6, 60 and 120 days, respectively. For the mtDNA, HVI and HVII sequences were obtained for all samples tested, whatever the period considered. Nevertheless, the highest mtDNA LR of 435 was relatively low compared to its nDNA equivalent. Indeed, LRs obtained with only three nDNA loci could easily exceed this value and are quite easier to obtain. Overall, the joint use of nDNA and mtDNA markers enabled the 20 urine samples to be identified, even after the 4-month period.

This analysis is a follow-up to an earlier investigation of 182 genes selected as likely candidate genetic variations conferring susceptibility to anorexia nervosa (AN). As those initial case-control results revealed no statistically significant differences in single nucleotide polymorphisms, herein, we investigate alternative phenotypes associated with AN. In 1762 females, using regression analyses, we examined the following: (i) lowest illness-related attained body mass index; (ii) age at menarche; (iii) drive for thinness; (iv) body dissatisfaction; (v) trait anxiety; (vi) concern over mistakes; and (vii) the anticipatory worry and pessimism versus uninhibited optimism subscale of the harm avoidance scale. After controlling for multiple comparisons, no statistically significant results emerged. Although results must be viewed in the context of limitations of statistical power, the approach illustrates a means of potentially identifying genetic variants conferring susceptibility to AN because less complex phenotypes associated with AN are more proximal to the genotype and may be influenced by fewer genes. Objective: To assess the importance of spirituality and religious coping among outpatients with a DSM-IV diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder living in three countries. Method: A total of 276 outpatients (92 from Geneva, Switzerland, 121 from Trois-Rivières, Canada, and 63 from Durham, North Carolina), aged 18-65, were administered a semi-structured interview on the role of spirituality and religiousness in their lives and to cope with their illness. Results: Religion is important for outpatients in each of the three country sites, and religious involvement is higher than in the general population. Religion was helpful (i.e., provided a positive sense of self and positive coping with the illness) among 87% of the participants and harmful (a source of despair and suffering) among 13%. Helpful religion was associated with better social, clinical and psychological status. The opposite was observed for the harmful aspects of religion. In addition, religion sometimes conflicted with psychiatric treatment. Conclusions: These results indicate that outpatients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder often use spirituality and religion to cope with their illness, basically positively, yet sometimes negatively. These results underscore the importance of clinicians taking into account the spiritual and religious lives of patients with schizophrenia.

We performed association studies with 5,151 SNPs that were judged as likely candidate genetic variations conferring susceptibility to anorexia nervosa (AN) based on location under reported linkage peaks, previous results in the literature (182 candidate genes), brain expression, biological plausibility, and estrogen responsivity. We employed a case-control design that tested each SNP individually as well as haplotypes derived from these SNPs in 1,085 case individuals with AN diagnoses and 677 control individuals. We also performed separate association analyses using three increasingly restrictive case definitions for AN: all individuals with any subtype of AN (All AN: n = 1,085); individuals with AN with no binge eating behavior (AN with No Binge Eating: n = 687); and individuals with the restricting subtype of AN (Restricting AN: n = 421). After accounting for multiple comparisons, there were no statistically significant associations for any individual SNP or haplotype block with any definition of illness. These results underscore the importance of large samples to yield appropriate power to detect genotypic differences in individuals with AN and also motivate complementary approaches involving Genome-Wide Association (GWA) studies, Copy Number Variation (CNV) analyses, sequencing-based rare variant discovery assays, and pathway-based analysis in order to make up for deficiencies in traditional candidate gene approaches to AN.

Five phosphatase-labelled oligonucleotide probes were evaluated in respect to their sensitivity, with the help of an optimized chemiluminescent protocol, for DNA-VNTR polymorphism determination. Their usefulness for the identification of biological traces is illustrated with casework examples.

RESUMO Objetivo Levantar pontos críticos do processo de medicação, suas repercussões nas demandas de trabalho da equipe de enfermagem e riscos para a segurança dos pacientes. Método Estudo descritivo, com abordagem qualitativa, na perspectiva ecológico-restaurativa. Os dados foram coletados por meio de grupos focais e fotografias. Participaram enfermeiros e técnicos de enfermagem. Resultados Três categorias emergiram da análise temática: Desafios nos processos de prescrição e dispensação de medicamentos; Administração de medicamentos – organização no turno de trabalho; Uso de novas tecnologias para diminuir erros de medicamentos. Os resultados apontam que o processo de medicação assume um caráter de centralidade na organização do trabalho da equipe de enfermagem, sendo que estes profissionais configuram-se como a última barreira para detectar falhas de prescrição e dispensação de medicamentos. Conclusão Para a identificação de vulnerabilidades na etapa de administração de medicamentos, o uso de tecnologias, sem dúvida, agrega valor para o processo de cuidado seguro.

L'étude de la représentation de Dieu chez l'enfant à l'aide de la technique du dessin n'est pas nouvelle. Dans une large enquête conduite aux Etats-Unis, Harms (1944) montrait des modifications du contenu des représentations en fonction de l'âge : du conte de fée aux représentations plus réalistes, de l'anthropomorphisme à des représentations plus symboliques ou abstraites. Depuis, d'autres travaux ont repris cette technique avec des enfants européens, montrant des différences suivant que l'enfant a reçu ou non une éducation religieuse (Hanisch, 1996) ou qu'il est garçon ou fille (Klein, 2000). Dans le prolongement de ces travaux, l'enquête présentée cherche à mettre en évidence l'effet de la culture en sortant d'un contexte inspiré par la conception judéo-chrétienne de Dieu. Près de 150 dessins ont été récoltés au Japon dans des écoles bouddhistes et publiques, auprès d'enfants entre sept ans et 14 ans. Trois groupes d'âges ont été constitués : 7-8 ans, 10-11 ans, 13-14 ans. Chaque dessin a été décrit à l'aide d'une quarantaine de traits qui ont permis de définir 17 types. Ces types, ainsi que quelques variables saillantes ont été corrélés avec l'âge, le genre du dessinateur, et l'école suivie. Contrairement aux dessins récoltés en Occident, où presque tous les dessins anthropomorphes présentent des figures masculines, la moitié des filles japonaises ont représenté un dieu féminin. Parallèlement, on constate aussi que l'éducation religieuse (ici le bouddhisme) favorise la production des représentations non anthropomorphiques chez les enfants plus âgés (30% des dessins chez les enfants fréquentant des écoles bouddhistes contre 8% chez ceux fréquentant des écoles publiques). Indépendamment des types qui ont pu être décrits opérationnellement, on constate que certains moyens utilisés pour différencier la représentation de la figure de Dieu d'autres figures sont largement partagés. Les enfants puisent dans un répertoire graphique et symbolique en combinant des motifs, certains typiques du Japon, d'autres propres à l'imagerie occidentale largement popularisée par les médias. Il en ressort que la représentation (picturale) de Dieu n'est pas tant le résultat de la reproduction plus ou moins habile d'un stéréotype traditionnel plus ou moins bien assimilé, mais bien plutôt la tentative de signifier une différence ontologique à l'aide d'une grammaire de signes empruntés à divers systèmes de référence.

Lithium is widely used in psychotherapy. The (6)Li isotope has a long intrinsic longitudinal relaxation time T(1) on the order of minutes, making it an ideal candidate for hyperpolarization experiments. In the present study we demonstrated that lithium-6 can be readily hyperpolarized within 30 min, while retaining a long polarization decay time on the order of a minute. We used the intrinsically long relaxation time for the detection of 500 nM contrast agent in vitro. Hyperpolarized lithium-6 was administered to the rat and its signal retained a decay time on the order of 70 sec in vivo. Localization experiments imply that the lithium signal originated from within the brain and that it was detectable up to 5 min after administration. We conclude that the detection of submicromolar contrast agents using hyperpolarized NMR nuclei such as (6)Li may provide a novel avenue for molecular imaging.
