During the Eighteenth Century, the loggia or gradas of the Church of San Felipe el Real in Madrid combined its traditional character as a popular market-place for leaflets, broadsides and flyers with a new commercial space for a motley variety of works responding to the diverse changes in mentality parallel to the creation of a new, independent, public opinion. The study of the works sold in these very dynamic book stalls, a true commercial crossroads of the old and the new, could serve as a seismograph of the significant collision between ideas and ways of life that took place under the apparent stability of the last century of the ancien regime.

Energy levels, radiative rates and electron impact excitation rates for transitions in H-like N VII, O VIII, F IX, Ne X and Na XI

We report calculations of energy levels, radiative rates and electron impact excitation rates for transitions in H-like N VII, O VIII, F IX, Ne X and Na XI. The general-purpose relativistic atomic structure package (grasp) is adopted for calculating energy levels and radiative rates, while the Dirac atomic R-matrix code (DARC) and the flexible atomic code (FAC) are used for determining the collision strengths and subsequently the excitation rates. Oscillator strengths, radiative rates and line strengths are listed for all E1, E2, M1 and M2 transitions among the lowest 25 levels of the above five ions. Collision strengths have been averaged over a Maxwellian velocity distribution, and the effective collision strengths so obtained are reported over a wide temperature range below 10(7) K. Additionally, lifetimes are also given for all the calculated energy levels of the above five ions.

Additionally, lifetimes are also reported for all calculated levels of the above four ions.

Photoionization cross sections for O-like S IX: a Breit-Pauli R-matrix calculation

In this paper we present photoionization cross sections for the lowest five states of O-like S IX (1s(2)2s(2)2p(4) P-3(0,1,2), D-1(2), S-1(0)). The relativistic Breit-Pauli R-matrix codes were utilized including all terms of the 2s(2)2p(3), 2s2p(4), 2p(5), 2s(2)2p(2)3s, 3p, 3d and 2s2p(3)3s, 3p, 3d configurations in the expansion of the collision wavefunction for S X. It was also found that to achieve convergence of the low-lying energy separations of the target levels, an additional 21 configuration functions needed to be included in the configuration interaction expansion, incorporating two-electron excitations from the 2s and 2p shells to the 3s, 3p and 3d shells. The present work thus constitutes the most sophisticated photoionization evaluation for ground and metastable levels of the S IX ion. Direct comparisons have been made with the only available data found on the OPEN-ADAS database between level resolved contributions of the spectrum. This comparison for the background cross section exhibits excellent agreement at all photon energies for each partial photoionization cross section contribution investigated. Finally, the autoionizing bound states arising from numerous open channels have also been investigated and identified using the QB approach, a procedure for analyzing resonances in atomic and molecular collision theory which exploits the analytic properties of R-matrix theory. Major Rydberg resonance series are also presented and tabulated for the dominant linewidths considered.

Chiapas a través de los viajeros del siglo XVII: aspectos narrativos e historia descriptiva en Thomas Gage y Antonio Vázquez de Espinosa

Chiapas representó en el siglo XVII una región donde confluían los mitos, temores y fascinaciones de colonos y europeos. Al ser visitada por Thomas Gage en su travesía hacia Guatemala, es descrita en su Nuevo reconocimiento de las Indias Occidentales de modo muy distinto cuando el narrador, como es este caso, registra sus vivencias personales e, incluso, pasionales. Sólo la historiografía moderna podría explicarnos particulares pasajes en que el viajero es abordado súbitamente por una realidad que pasa desapercibida a otros viajeros con un programa muy claro de supervisión y registro de datos, como es el caso de Antonio Vázquez de Espinosa en su Descripción de la Nueva España. Si el historiógrafo describe puntualmente flora, fauna y geografía, el narrador huele, paladea y recorre con nosotros el laberinto de la tierra chiapaneca. El paisaje a través de la persona, con todos los cabos sueltos y apariciones inexplicables para quien se interna en lo desconocido, cobran, a la luz de investigaciones recientes acerca del contexto sociohistórico de Chiapas, un sentido cabal que no sólo nos ilustra, sino que nos interna y se nos interna.

Curso: Teatro del Siglo de Oro Góngora y Calderón: culteranismo y renovación barroca en el género dramático. Análisis de textos

Un estudio del teatro español del Siglo de Oro, que pretenda ofrecer un panorama más o menos completo de lo que es el género dramático en esta importantísima época, debe abarcar la segunda parte de la llamada Comedia Nueva, creada por Lope de Vega. Es por ello que este curso comprende el análisis de los textos teatrales de Calderón de la Barca (1600-1681), quien recreó y a la vez renovó la comedia en boga en el siglo XVII, y la dotó de nuevas características que toman en cuenta los avances tecnológicos del arte escenográfico. Sin embargo, antes de abordar el estudio del teatro calderoniano, se estudiarán dos textos teatrales del gran poeta Luis de Góngora y Argote (1560-1627), cuyo teatro es muy poco leído y estudiado en las aulas, a pesar de que se le ha considerado de una perfección indiscutible. De este modo, será posible comprender la influencia que en cuanto a lenguaje y estructuras poéticas ejerció Góngora sobre Calderón y otros dramaturgos de la escuela de éste último escritor.

Folk-lore, política y literatura popular en el siglo XIX (cartas inéditas de A. Machado y Álvarez a Teófilo Braga)

Neste artigo publicam-se, editam-se e comentam-se pela primeira vez as cartas enviadas pelo fundador da sociedade El Folk-Lore Español, Antonio Machado y Álvarez, ao ilustre polígrafo e líder português Teófilo Braga, conservadas actualmente na Biblioteca Pública e Arquivo de Ponta Delgada (Açores). Através destas treze cartas podemos conhecer mais em detalhe as estreitas relações entre os folcloristas portugueses e espanhóis no século XIX, assim como aprofundar as implicações ideológicas e políticas do inovador conceito de Folclore que ambos partilhavam. No final do artigo inclui-se um Apêndice bibliográfico de temas e autores portugueses nas publicações da sociedade de El Folk-Lore Español.

Bestimmung des Kostenverlaufs von Molkereiabteilungen in Abhängigkeit von der Kapazitätsgröße und -auslastung. IX. Abteilung Edamerkäserei

Im Rahmen dieser Veröffentlichungsreihe wird der Kostenverlauf von ausgewählten Molkereiabteilungen in Abhängigkeit von der Kapazitätsgröße und -auslastung ermittelt. Die Bestimmung der Kosten erfolgt mit Hilfe von Modellkalkulationen, deren Daten in zahlreichen Molkereibetrieben sowie bei Herstellern von Molkereimaschinen, Verpackungsmaterial und sonstigen Bedarfsartikeln erhoben wurden. Die Grundlage der Verrechnung dieser Daten bildet eine spezielle Form der Teilkostenrechnung.
