Report of the workshop on ecosystem characterisation of Indian coastal waters, Dona Paula, Goa, India, 20-22 October, 2014

The goals of the workshop were to: conduct an interactive workshop for characterizing Indian coastal ecosystems; verification of the ecosystem characterisation report for the East coast of India; and development of ecosystem characterisation for the west coast of India based on ecological/biophysical systems.

Report of the essential EAFM training course, Chittagong, Bangladesh, 12-20 November, 2014

Participants were exposed to concepts and information about Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) using a structured, participatory method of delivery. The learning strategy involved specifically designed exercises, using real examples, to consolidate learning. Daily monitoring and reviews were conducted together with pre-and post-course assessment.

Report of the NBFGR-BOBLME Indian mackerel genetics harmonisation training workshop, Kochi, India, 20-27 August, 2013

Report of the pilot Essential EAFM course, Samut Prakan, Thailand, 20-25 January, 2014

This course, co-hosted by South East Asian Fisheries Development Centre (SEAFDEC), was a refined version of the pilot course held in Malaysia in June 2013. Report of the training course on integrated coastal management in the Bay of Bengal, Chonburi, Thailand, 20-24 October, 2014

Participants consisted of 25 middle and junior level personnel from BOBLME countries. Modules included: Integrated Coastal Management (ICM) concept and principles; ICM development and implementation; indicators of good practice; and action planning.

20 Gb/s QPSK transmission using an electro-optically modulated vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser

20 Gb/s QPSK transmission over 100 m of OM3 fibre using an EOM VCSEL under QPSK modulation is reported. Bit-error-ratio measurements are carried out to express the quality of the transmission scheme. © 2011 OSA.

Monolithic electro-optically modulated VCSEL suitable for radio over fibre applications to 20 GHz

An integrated EOM VCSELs is shown to offer high linearity (92dB/Hz2/3 at 6GHz) and by extrapolation ~90dB/Hz2/3 up to 20GHz. Successful modulation with IEEE 802.11g signals is demonstrated at 6GHz with a 12dB dynamic range. © OSA/OFC/NFOEC 2011.
