Különösen érdekes megvizsgálni, hogy egyes elemzők hogyan közelítik meg a potenciális függetlenedés közgazdasági összefüggéseit, előnyeit és hátrányait. A téma személyesen is érint, mivel 2012 júliusa és 2013 januárja között a barcelonai Universitat Abat Oliba CEU egyetem vendégoktatója és kutatója voltam, így első kézből tapasztaltam a téma érzékenységét. _____ The independence of Catalonia is not just simple Spanish “internal affair”, since it has serious international and European legal aspects. It is very interesting to analyse the different approaches of the parties and experts about the economic pros and cons of the potential independence. The topic is affecting me personally; because I was guest professor and researcher of the Universitat Abat Oliba CEU in Barcelona in a turbulent period from July 2012 until January 2013, so I could experience the sensitiveness of the subject.

Growth of U.S. Ecotourism and Its Future in the 1990s

Ecotourism, a new term for low-impact nature travel, is receiving increasing attention. The author has researched the development of the U.S. ecotourism market from 1980-1989 in order to obtain data on the growth of this market segment. Factors involved in the growth of the U.S. ecotourism market are then examined in order to project the growth of this maeket during the 1990's.

The emergence of a mass community-based ecotourism theme park : the case of Ejido Chacchoben, Quintana Roo, Mexico

In 1998, a dispute between a federal government agency and the local community of Chacchoben resulted in the emergence of a community-based ecotourism (CBE) enterprise to be fully owned and operated by the community in conjunction with a complex arrangement of agreements and partnerships with external actors. CBE is usually framed as a lower-impact, often small-scale alternative to mass tourism and as a conservation and development strategy that can hypothetically protect biologically diverse landscapes while improving the lives of marginalized peasant and indigenous communities through their participation. This case study analyzes the roles of common property land tenure and social capital and how the unique dilemma of a mass community-based ecotourism theme park emerged in Chacchoben. Findings indicate that local decisions and processes of development, conservation, and land use are affected by the complex interaction between local and external institutions and fluctuating levels of social capital.
