Algumas reflexões sobre a condição da mulher brasileira da colônia às primeiras décadas do século XX

This article, about reflections on the condition of Brazilian women from the Colony to the first decades of the twentieth century, reveals the historical position of them and the attitudes and behaviors related to gender and sexuality. Subdued, it was treated as a sexual object, arousing all sorts of misogyny by men. Rebel, veiled or ostensibly, could serve their own desires. Throughout history, the Church and medical institutions which jointly accounted for, significantly, established the meaning and place of women. In Colony period, the woman is a ward from the Catholic ideology, but from the nineteenth century, after Independence, this power control arises to Medicine. The physician submits the religious discourse, naturalizing the status of women as one that breeds, namely the insertion of the medical issues of family scientifically legitimate colonial patriarchy. This is accentuated in the early twentieth century, when medicine consolidated setting standards and rules for marriage, to motherhood and family life. We note how the feminine universe was (and it is nowadays) ambivalent, with "one foot" in virtue and another in sin, with a tendency to contain and another to trespass. On the one hand we have the home and motherhood, validated in marriage, in which the woman is cared for and dependent on her husband. Reflecting on the motherhood of Virgin Mary, comes to the sacred dimension of the idealized woman saint by the Church. At the same time, however, feels the need for freedom, identity and independence, needing to give a voice to the desire to have their sexuality and all that it is due in full. The manifestation of the desire and the call for sexual satisfaction, and put in permanent conflict personal, psychological and social split between moral entrenched across generations and cultural transformations resulting from decades of the 20th Century.

Merleau-Ponty e a condição do natural em nós

In this paper, the aim is to highlight and analyze certain moments in the work of Merleau-Ponty when discussions took place about the condition of the natural in us. We mainly focus on the observed opposition between the evolutionist viewpoint adopted in The structure of Behavior and the perspective in the Phenomenology of Perception, based on the body as expression. We also look at studies on infantile prematuration and mention the characterization of the human body in the philosopher’s courses on the notion of nature. We underline the expressive dimension of the natural in us, which emerges from Merleau-Ponty’s formulations. In addition, we evidence the importance of psychoanalysis in the Merleau-Ponty’s treatment of the corporeity problem.

A escola na condição de não lugar

This article portrays the changes that schools and education have been undergoing since the Middle Ages to the contemporary era. Its main focus points at the subjective issues that underlie the school as educational space necessary for the maintenance of society. It ends by showing that the school currently is losing its historical, relational and identity function (essential issues to structure a society) and is becoming a non place (concept of Marc Augé), into an institution without apparent social function, held only as a still a consumable and profitable commodity.

Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans em pacientes com síndrome de down: influência da condição periodontal e higiene bucal

Patients with Down syndrome have varying degrees of mental retardation, physical and motor, and apparently are more susceptible to infectious diseases. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the occurrence of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans in saliva and subgingival biofilms and above of children and adolescents with Down syndrome and analyze the influence of diet, socioeconomic and cultural factors and periodontal condition. After assessing the socio-economic and behavioral, were collected clinical specimens, which were transported to the laboratory of Microbiology and Immunology FOA-UNESP for detection of microorganisms by molecular method and periodontal conditions were evaluated according to the Periodontal Screening Index and Recording. The control group consisted of individuals without the syndrome. The results were analyzed by chi-square test for proportion analysis of variables with three or more categories, or the Mann-Whitney test. The data analysis of this study showed that the occurrence of A. actinomycetemcomitans ranged from 0.0% to 25.0%, both in the group of patients with Down syndrome, as for the control group and this was not affected by socioeconomic characteristics of the target population, either by oral hygiene standards

Diferenças no desenvolvimento de meninos e meninas em condição de risco

This study aimed to evaluate the development of infants aged between 30 and 59 days, who presented some kind of risk factor threatening their development. Participated in the project 82 children, being 42 boys and 40 girls, presenting the following risk conditions: low birth weight, preterm birth or children of adolescent mothers. The protocol "Stimulation for kids" from "The Operationalized Portage Inventory" was administered. The girls presented a better performance in all conditions, however, no significant differences between genders were observed among the adolescent mothers' children. These results are consistent with those described in the literature and they indicate that the male population is more vulnerable to developmental damage. Public policies regarding early intervention to minimize the likelihood of future cognitive difficulties and consequently its impact in such population are essential.

Classificação híbrida: pixel a pixel e baseada em objetos para o monitoramento da condição da superfície dos pavimentos rodoviários

Monitorar a condição de uso de toda a extensão das rodovias brasileiras é tarefa dispendiosa e demorada. Este trabalho trata de novas técnicas que permitem o levantamento da condição da superfície dos pavimentos rodoviários de forma ágil utilizando imagens hiperespectrais de sensor digital aeroembarcado. Nos últimos anos, um número crescente de imagens de alta resolução espacial tem surgido no mercado mundial com o aparecimento dos novos satélites e sensores aeroembarcados de sensoriamento remoto. Propõe-se uma metodologia para identificação dos pavimentos asfálticos e classificação das principais ocorrências dos defeitos na superfície do pavimento. A primeira etapa da metodologia é a identificação da superfície asfáltica na imagem, utilizando uma classificação híbrida baseada inicialmente em pixel e depois refinada por objetos. A segunda etapa da metodologia é a identificação e classificação das ocorrências dos principais defeitos nos pavimentos flexíveis que são observáveis nas imagens de alta resolução espacial. Esta última etapa faz uso intensivo das novas técnicas de classificação de imagens baseadas em objetos. O resultado final é a geração de índices da condição da superfície do pavimento a partir das imagens que possam ser comparados com os indicadores vigentes da condição da superfície do pavimento já normatizados pelos órgãos competentes no país.

O paradigma ambiental na globalização neoliberal: da condição crítica ao protagonismo de mercado

Este trabalho busca circunscrever os elementos que caracterizam o paradigma ambiental a fim de realçar a condição e a função exercida pelo discurso ambiental sob a égide da globalização neoliberal. Convém mencionar que este paradigma ambiental, ao ser incorporado pelas instituições neoliberais, se fragmenta e passa a comportar duas interpretações divergentes a respeito das perspectivas de desenvolvimento. Acredita-se que o teor desta ruptura preserva o movimento ambiental enquanto movimento social, crítico à economia da superprodução e do superconsumo, mas crente que um desenvolvimento sustentável somente pode ser atingido quando superadas às lógicas do capitalismo. Por outro lado, este paradigma ambiental adquire novo significado, ao ser utilizado como mecanismo de transformação do mercado em vários setores da economia, cuja ideia essencial reside na apropriação do paradigma como meio para sobrevivência das empresas. Em outras palavras, as instituições neoliberais incorporam o discurso ambiental e o conteúdo crítico direcionado às contradições sócio-ambientais trazidas pelo desenvolvimento econômico, e o transformam em ideologia na dispersão de conceitos que gravitam em torno do que denominam de sustentabilidade.
