Confiabilidade e validade das declarações de óbitos por câncer de útero no município de Belém, Pará, Brasil

Belém, Pára, Brasil, apresenta taxas de mortalidade por câncer de colo uterino bastante elevadas, justificando-se a análise da confiabilidade e validade da causa básica do óbito declarada. Selecionou-se declarações de óbito de residentes de Belém, de 1998-1999, com causa básica de morte neoplasia do colo, corpo e porção não especificada do útero e aquelas que mencionavam essas neoplasias em qualquer linha do atestado, totalizando 188 declarações de óbito. Efetuou-se nova codificação para análise da confiabilidade, aferida pela concordância simples e pela estatística kappa. A causa básica do óbito, após revisão de prontuários médicos e/ou laudos histopatológicos, foi considerada como padrão-ouro para análise da validade de critério, através do valor preditivo positivo. Observou-se concordância simples de 94,0% e kappa de 0,87, sugerindo alta confiabilidade na codificação da causa básica câncer de útero no sistema oficial. Na análise da validade, confirmou-se 120 das 127 originais como colo de útero, três das quatro codificadas como corpo de útero e 18 das 48 classificadas como porção não especificada. Registrou-se aumento de 11,2 % nas neoplasias de colo uterino e redução de 62,5% nos óbitos de porção não especificada do útero.

Desenvolvimento rural, conhecimento e cooperação como força produtiva

No trabalho discutimos conhecimento e cooperação no meio rural ou sociedades rurais, pensando estes dentro das transformações produtivas, e, tendo os agentes desta produção como atores de tal transformação. Destacamos o conhecimento e a capacidade empreendedora de mobilizar e interagir com este conhecimento como a principal força produtiva na construção de “novos mercados”. Para tanto discutimos com autores clássicos da teoria social, particularmente com Marx e Weber, quando tocam nestes pontos. A idéia central é entender como se pode conceber o desenvolvimento rural a partir de um saber-fazer, ou força produtiva, típico deste chamado “mundo rural”, que interage com as conquistas técnico-científicas identificadas com a precisão e a codificação atribuídas à sociedade industrial.

Apontamentos para o estudo da estrutura da frase

Neste trabalho se esboça uma critica às concepções correntes nos estudos da frase, apontando-se as dificuldades de delimitação dos componentes, as inadequações dos níveis estruturais e as controvérsias de questões como criatividade, primazia da sintaxe e universalidade. Descarta-se a identificação das estruturas conceptuais com as representações semânticas, ressaltando-se o papel da codificação na determinação da forma em que as estruturas conceptuais devem ser moldadas na manifestação lingüística. Enfim, destaca-se a relevância da perspectiva na estruturação da frase e a semântica como componente básico da gramática.

Desempenho de escolares com dislexia e transtorno do déficit de atenção e hiperatividade nos processos de leitura

This study aimed to characterize and to compare the performance of students with an interdisciplinary diagnosis of dyslexia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in students with good academic performance on the reading processes. Sixty students from both genders, from 2nd to 4th grades of municipal public schools in Marília - SP participated in this study, they were distributed as follows: GI, 20 students with interdisciplinary diagnosis of dyslexia; GII, 20 students with ADHD and GIII, 20 students with good academic performance, paired according to gender, age and grade level with GI and GII. The students were submitted to the application of the assessment of reading processes (PROLEC) composed by four processes: letters identification, lexical, syntactical and semantic. The results highlighted that the students of GIII showed superior performance comparing with GI and GII. There was difference between GI and GII only in low frequency word reading and non words reading of the lexical process. The inferior performance from GI and GII in the PROLEC tests can be justified by the difficulty on the coding and decoding abilities. In ADHD students this difficulty was due to impaired interaction between the visual, linguistic, attention and auditory processing and in the dyslexic students was due to failure at the phonological mediation process, which depends on the knowledge of rules of grapheme - phoneme conversion to the acquisition of word reading. These changes affect the reading achievement and the comprehension of the read text.

Catalogação, formas de representação e construções mentais

The cataloging process, is responsible for building systems consisting of sets of interconnected elements and combined forms of representation, creating tools to facilitate the flow of information in various informational environments. It presents structures that offer favorable conditions for access to formal codes of symbolic representation and to the channels of information transfer, performing with competence the decoding and encoding of codes and rules used to represent knowledge and to describe information, documents and resources. The objective of this paper is to present the challenge of transforming operational data into consistent information, the role of the forms of representation and the mental constructions for defining the memory markers of users of catalogs. It shows as results the memory markers indicated by three categories of users for the description of a book like resource and points to the need of collaborative and cooperative work in cataloging and to the need of catalog modelling focused on the user.

This work focuses on the study of video compression standard MPEG. To this end, a study was undertaken starting from the basics of digital video, addressing the components necessary for the understanding of the tools used by the video coding standard MPEG. The Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG) was formed in the late '80s by a group of experts in order to create international standards for encoding and decoding audio and video. This paper will discuss the techniques present in the video compression standard MPEG, as well as its evolution. Will be described in the MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and H.264 (MPEG-4 Part 10), however, the last two will be presented with more emphasis, because the standards are present in most modern video technologies, as in HDTV broadcasts

Precificação do biogás produzido por autoprodutores, considerando seu transporte por meio de gasodutos existentes

The expansion of the energy matrix is a matter of great importance since the recent problems facing the country in this sector, such as rationing mobilized in 2001. Moreover, there is also concern with global sustainable development. Brazil is producing about 64 million cubic meters of biogas per day, but only a small percentage of this total is harnessed as an energy resource. Compounders are considered potential, for example, landfill energy (LE) and sewage treatment plants (STP), which can be adapted to produce biogas and market them. The work focuses its studies on biogas produced by these small and medium compounders. Are proposed and studied the following alternatives for the utilization of biogas energy: generation and sale of electricity through the installation of a small power station within the landfill, and purification and marketing of gas, whose price will be a consideration on the price of natural gas, taking into account the percentage of methane present in the biogas.
