This paper analyzes the growth and development of Singapore after its independence. For this, we made a historical analysis of the country, attributing importance in their geographic, economic, demographic, cultural and social. Singapore does not have a representative agricultural sector; its economy is based on manufacturing and the financial sector. The development of such activities was through strong planning policies and stringent regulatory institutions. Singapore economy has evolved from a trading post to a major financial center worldwide. Shows high rates of GDP per capita, which is $ 50,000 in 2011. This country has the world's busiest port for container handling. According to Statistical Yearbook of Social Security (2011), the number of accidents at work recorded in the agricultural sector is quite high, in the year 2010 there are records of thirty-four thousand nine hundred and ninetysix accidents, and in the year of 2011 there were thirty-one thousand and ninety-six accidents in the industry. Among so many diseases and accidents at work hearing loss is one of them. According to the Pan American Health Organization (2011) the Occupational hearing loss is then jury to the worker's health, often in the workplace. Mechanical vibrations are also present in many human activities exposing employees to an extremely aggressive agent. The combined action of these two factors can cause damage to the health of the worker, in this way, noise and vibration are the two major occupational agents present in the brush cutter operator activity. In the case there is another risk factor, the open work, which exposes the employee to the Sun’s rays and the high temperature indices. Studies have shown that: noise exceeds 115 dB (A) vibration 4.0 m/s2 and thermal stress of 29.9 o C. Ergonomic evaluations also demonstrated that the activity cause injury to workers.

Utilização de análise de agrupamento na caracterização do perfil agrícola e climático da região sudeste do Estado de Mato Grosso

The multivariate analysis grouping was used to characterize the productive and climate profile of southeastern of Mato Grosso state. This technique allowed the junction of similar micro regions from characteristics of productivity and climatic, without the need for the assumption of the number or structure of the groups. Cluster analysis allowed the design of a mosaic of spatial heterogeneity regions. It established different profiles in the composition of groups, joining the more traditional in the culture of a species, or more productive, or those for the development of a particular culture. The results obtained by estimation of the climatic parameters and the multivariate procedures enabled the provision of systematic information that will allow farmers to better decision-making on the competitiveness and maintaining the flow of investment in agricultural sector southeastern Mato Grosso.

Desempenho mecânico de embalagens rígidas utilizadas na indústria agroquímica: estudo de compressão

The world population is growing at exponential scales, thus the demand for food grows significantly. The use of pesticides is seen as a way to meet the demand for food and increase the efficiency and productivity of the agricultural sector. BASF SA in partnership with packaging suppliers represent a remarkable scene in the Brazilian market in the agrochemicals sector. In 2014, the Department of Agro from BASF Packaging, identified in its production process certain deformation of its rigid packaging during the filling process of pesticides. This phenomenon is probably caused by the low resistance to compression that the package is used. In order to eliminate the deformation of rigid packaging arising from the filling step, a study will be conducted in conjunction with the supplier JET UNIPAC whose on line problems occurred more frequently. The study is to identify the strength of the rigid containers standardize a compression resistance value at which the package is not deformed after the filling step. This study will present an investigation through experiments combined with theoretical concepts in order to determine possible causes for the emergence of this phenomenon. At the end of the study, a solution to eliminate or reduce to the maximum the packaging deformation problem appears

The role of empirical research in the study of complex forms of governance in agroindustrial systems

The growing complexity of supply chains poses new challenges for Agricultural Research Centers and statistical agencies. The aim of this perspective paper is to discuss the role of empirical research in understanding the complex forms of governance in agribusiness. The authors argue that there are three fundamental levels of analysis: (i) the basic structure of the market, (ii) the formal contractual arrangements that govern relations within the agroindustrial system and (iii) the transactional dimensions governed by non-contractual means. The case of the agrochemical industry in Brazil illustrates how traditional analyses that only address market structure are insufficient to fully explain the agricultural sector and its supply chain. The article concludes by suggesting some indicators which could be collected by statistical agencies to improve understanding of the complex relationships among agribusiness segments. In doing so, the paper seeks to minimize costs and to enable a better formulation of public and private policies.
