Dependence of winter precipitation over Portugal on NAO and baroclinic wave activity

The relationship between winter (DJF) rainfall over Portugal and the variable large scale circulation is addressed. It is shown that the poles of the sea level pressure (SLP) field variability associated with rainfall variability are shifted about 15° northward with respect to those used in standard definitions of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO). It is suggested that the influence of NAO on rainfall dominantly arises from the associated advection of humidity from the Atlantic Ocean. Rainfall is also related to different aspects of baroclinic wave activity, the variability of the latter quantity in turn being largely dependent on the NAO. A negative NAO index (leading to increased westerly surface geostrophic winds into Portugal) is associated with an increased number of deep (ps<980 hPa) surface lows over the central North Atlantic and of intermediate (980Royal Meteorological Society

Uma casa na Freguesia de Santo António: projecto Espaço Galeria – restaurante e /ou Outros Serviços

O presente trabalho insere-se no âmbito do Mestrado em Arte e Património, no Contemporâneo e Actual. Pretende-se com este estudo caso valorizar uma antiga casa, dos finais do século XIX, que até muito recentemente serviu de residência de família. Hoje, cremos ser necessário repensar a actualidade, colocando a hipótese da valorização destas habitações e a sua preservação. Reflectir a sua reutilização, apostando noutras iniciativas multidisciplinares, onde as áreas da cultura e do lazer possam coexistir, e permitir, assim, a sua sustentabilidade. Deste modo, pretendemos elaborar um projecto, um espaço inovador, alternativo; criar um espaço Galeria – Livraria – Restaurante e/ou outros serviços contribuindo assim para o desenvolvimento local – Freguesia de Santo António – mas também para toda a Madeira. Ao investir nas áreas da cultura e do lazer, ambicionamos atrair o público e possibilitar que os visitantes possam usufruir de eventos e encontros significativos, bem como a oportunidade de um maior convívio social e cultural, proporcionando a interacção e as aprendizagens informais. Na primeira parte, tratamos de alguns aspectos relacionados com a sociedade actual e a cultura. Também fazemos um breve estudo sobre a evolução do Espaço Galeria em Portugal e apresentamos alguns espaços da actualidade, quer em Portugal Continental quer na Madeira. A segunda parte, refere-se ao local de implementação do espaço – dinamização de espaços e actividades culturais na Freguesia de Santo António; criação e apresentação do espaço – estudo caso: Reabilitação - a primeira ideia/ Ante Projecto.

The Approach To The Administrative Mapping In Knowledge Management For Portugal Libraries

In the study of theoretical trends in Administration, the management of information follows the development of theories of Administration; constant-adaptations are suffered. Information Science as Museums, Archives and Libraries, understands and concerns itself with the changes wrought in these endeavour of the knowledge society as new forms of communication and integration. They interact in ways such as to maximize access to information and facilitate improvement on their structural environment. The research aims at identifies the requirements and specifications of an information system for knowledge management in the public's library enviromnent and proposes to achieve a pre-defined structure for the implementation of administration management. The research is conducted with public's library of the metropolian region of the North's Portugal. In the improvement of systems theoretical administrative trends become management decisions and result in the ultimate success of the organization.

A idéia de império e a fundação da monarquia constitucional no Brasil (Portugal-Brasil, 1772-1824)

Cet article met les conceptions et projets politiques ayant trait au processus conduisant à la constituion impériale brésilienne de 1824 dans un contexte historique dont le pont de départ est la notion d'empire civil, telle qu'elle se développa lors de la réorganisation politico-administrative du royaume et de l'empire du Portugal au XVIIIe siècle. Le texte montre qu'avec le couronnement de Pierre I on fit un usage moderne d'une institution ancienne, le sacre royal, ce qui servit à étayer une sujection politique fondée sur la raison universelle humaine. Cette étude permet de comprendre pourquoi le Brésil indépendant fut pour commencer un empire, pas un royaume, ainsi que le sens profond du pouvoir modérateur attribué à l'empereur par la constitution de 1824.

This article analyzes the specific features and processes of indexing and classification performed in school libraries to process and retrieve information from their collections. Subject languages used in Spanish, Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese school libraries are also analyzed. To achieve this goal, the concept of school library was analyzed, its function was studied and the techniques and tools that allow the information organization were examined. Among the tools, we studied the Subject Headings Lists for children and juveniles’ books and the Subject Headings List for public libraries, the Universal Decimal Classification System (paperback edition) or the classification by fields of interest and specialized thesauri like the Tesauro de la Educación UNESCO-OIE and the TesauroEuropeo de la Educación.

The research aims at identifying the requirements and specifications of an information system for knowledge management in the public’s library environment and proposes to achieve a pre-defined structure for the implementation of administration management. The research is conducted with public’s library of the metropolitan region of the North’s Portugal. Portugal libraries are institutions that operate in the social process of their communities reflecting the society and its organic sphere of informational performance. These libraries have developed the organizational theories to make a framework easily for effective management practices and have been using their produced knowledge in the optimization of their actions. In the improvement of systems, theoretical administrative trends become management decisions and result in the ultimate success of the organization. In order to achieve its objectives the study verified an economy based on knowledge management, and its production emphasizes the human capital that permeates the condition of the information in support for the development of communities.
