Analyysi John "Mitch" Mitchellin rumpukomppaamisesta "Purple Haze"-sävelmän studio- ja Woodstock-versioissa.

Tässä työssä tutkittiin ja analysoitiin englantilaisen rock-rumpali John ”Mitch” Mitchellin musiikillista sanavarastoa ja rytmiikan käsittelyä Jimi Hendrixin ”Purple Haze” -sävelmän kahdessa eri versiossa.Tavoitteena oli selvittää, minkälaisista elementeistä Mitchellin komppaus muodostuu, ja mikä on hänelle tyypillinen fillaustyyli. Työmenetelminä käytettiin analyysia transkriptioaineistosta, observointia, eli tarkastelua DVD-aineistosta ja emulointia, eli soittamista tehdyistä transkriptioista. Tutkimuksen alkuun liitettiin selitykset tutkimuksessa esiintyvistä musiikillisista termeistä sekä Mitchellin biografia. Seuraavaksi analysoitiin ”Purple Haze” -sävelmän studioversio. Analyysissa sävelmä pilkottiin useampiin muutaman tahdin mittaisiin osioihin, joita kaikkia tarkasteltiin erikseen edeten järjestelmällisesti alusta loppuun. Tämän jälkeen sävelmän live-versio analysoitiin edellä mainittua menetelmää käyttäen. Lopuksi pohdittiin tiivistetysti tutkimuksen eri vaiheita ja Mitch Mitchellin soittotyyliä ”Purple Haze” -sävelmän versioissa. Tutkimuksessa todettiin Mitchellin soittotyylin olevan runsasta ja sisältävän paljon fillejä. Fillit koostuivat kuudestoistaosista, sekä kuudestoistaosatrioleista ja -sekstoleista. Woodstock -versiossa fillit koostuivat samoista aineksista ja sisälsivät kolmen kahdeksasosan tai kolmen kuudestoistaosan mittaisia sekvenssejä. Todettiin myös, että Mitchell kuunteli ja seurasi erinomaisesti Hendrixin soittoa ja reagoi hänen rytmiikan käsittelyynsä. Mitchell ja Hendrix toimivat molemmat rytmisten ärsykkeiden antajina soittaessaan.

Analysis of the process of inspection in recreational craft in Spain. Suggestions for safety improvement

Inspections of pleasure boats in Spain can be carried out by collaborating entities of inspection, entities that must be authorized by the Maritime Administration. This authorization allows to perform effective inspections and technical controls of recreational crafts. Recreational crafts are subjected to surveys that are based on the registration list and on the material used in the hull. In addition, required safety equipment of the recreational boat depends on the distance that the recreational boat is authorized to navigate. Following data obtained from inspections of recreational craft, this paper aims to analyze information about hulls within dry and afloat conditions, about the equipment for rescue and safety, and about other nautical equipment; as well as to perform and improve different verifications during the inspections. All this information points to several aspects relevant for the optimization of the inspection process, the ultimate target being increasing efficiency and effectiveness, and ensuring more safety in recreational craft.

Fibrinonecrotic enteritis of piglets in a commercial farm: a postmortem study of the prevalence and the role of lesion associated agents Isospora suis and Clostridium perfringens

The objectives were to determine the prevalence of fibrinonecrotic enteritis (FNE) on a farrow-to-finish farm of 1,000 sows, to categorize the pathological changes, and to to investigate the lesion associated agents Isospora suis and Clostridium perfringens. Causes of preweaning mortality (PWM) were classified into 8 categories including FNE. Obtained data were evaluated for statistical significance by adjusted Chi-square analysis. Samples of FNE were taken for complementary studies including a PCR technique for genotyping toxin genes of Clostridium perfringens from gut samples fixed in 10% neutral formalin. From 3,153 piglets examined, less than 1% was classified as FNE. FNE prevalence increased progressively from the first to the third week, the last differing statistically from the others. Eighty percent of gut samples with FNE lesions were positive to Isospora suis, when examined by PCR from 9 severe FNE lesions detected 7 positive samples only for a toxin gene, characteristic of C. perfringens type-A.

Equine proliferative enteropathy on a Brazilian farm

Abstract:Lawsonia intracellularis infection on a horse farm in the Midwest region of Brazil is described. Thirty-nine foals a few days to months old from a herd with 300 horses, experienced diarrhea with variable characteristics and intensities, weight loss, hyperemic mucous membranes and dehydration. In foals 3 to 6 months of age, hypoproteinemia associated with submandibular edema were also common. Intestinal fragments of a 7-month-old foal were sent to an animal disease laboratory for diagnosis. The observed macroscopic lesions were hyperemic serosa, thickening of the intestinal wall with a corrugation, thickening of the mucosa folds and reduction of intestinal lumen. Histological analysis of the small and large intestine revealed enterocyte hyperplasia of the crypts associated with diffuse marked decrease in the number of goblet cells and positive L. intracellularis antigen labeling by immunohistochemistry. Three out of 11 animals of the same property were seropositive for L. intracellularis, demonstrating the circulation of the agent throughout the farm, but none were PCR positive in fecal samples. Based on clinical signs and pathological findings, the diagnosis of equine proliferative enteropathy was confirmed.

Craft distillery internationalization - Case: Kyrö Distillery Company

The purpose of this thesis is to identify attractive foreign markets for Kyrö Distillery Company. A small company with limited resources, it needs to make the right choices in their internationalization process to be able to succeed. Market research is needed. The amassed theory at the beginning gives insight and a general framework that we follow later in the empirical part; should they go abroad, where should the go and how are answered. After analyzing the company, the industry and all the necessary forces affecting the environment it was evident that they are ready to start their internationalization process and that the time is opportune. They have a quality brand that will not shy away even under closer inspection and their biggest impediment is access to distribution channels. After concluding that the company is fit to enter foreign markets a system of ranking countries in our target region was formed. Market data was painstakingly collected and analyzed resulting in an a priori list of attractive foreign market options to aid in the company's decision making. Finally we concluded that according to the transaction cost theory, it is beneficial for Kyrö Distillery Company to engage in partnerships, where local companies handle logistics and sales on their behalf.

Customer involvement in lean startup principles: case of game development studio

The objective of this thesis is to better understand customer’s role in lean startup methodology. The aim is to find out how customers are involved in lean startup methodology implantation and increase the likelihood of new venture survival. This study emphasizes the usage of customers in shaping of new product development processes within companies, through iteration and constant communication. This communication facilitates the development of features that are requested by the customers and enhances the prospects of the new venture. The empirical part of the study is a single qualitative case study that uses action research to implement the lean startup methodology into a pre-revenue venture and examines its customer involvement processes. The studied case company is Karaoke d.o.o., developing a game called kParty. The study used the theory discussed in the literature review: customer involvement (in the survey and interviews conducted for the lean startup methodology), lean principles (through the implementation of lean startup methodology) and lean startup methodology, which are the central building parts of this thesis as a whole. The thesis contributes to the understanding of customer involvement in lean startup methodology, while giving practical implications of customer orientation and product market fitting.
