Exponer las aportaciones hechas desde la educación por Lanza del Vasto sobre la paz. Se presenta la doctrina de Lanza del Vasto y la constitución del Arca como una orden particular, donde las familias viven en comunidad y educan a sus hijos bajo el lema de la no violencia. En el capítulo segundo se muestran las características de la orden, así como las reglas y los movimientos particulares. El capítulo tercero desarrolla el marco histórico de la educación de la no violencia y de la paz de las diferentes religiones, desde el jaicismo o budismo hasta Gandhi. El capítulo cuarto desarrolla la educación en las comunidades del Arca, la escuela montaraz del Arca, el fin de la educación, el lugar que ocupa el niño en la comunidad, la familia y la escuela,y la educación desde, por y para la viday. 1) La educación para la paz en una sociedad no violenta como es la de las comunidades del Arca tiene todos los factores a su favor, la cuestión es saber si este modelo de educación es aplicable en la sociedad y en las escuelas. 2) La sociedad tiende a ser más urbana, mas competitiva, más mecanizada. 3) El educador que enseñe a rechazar la violencia tiene que haberla rechazado él mismo de su vida o bien tiene que ofrecerse a los alumnos para caminar juntos en esa dirección. 4) Aunque las circunstancias educativas de las comunidades no es fácil encontrarlas en ninguna otra escuela, un educador siempre puede intentar vivir, en la medida de lo posible, de acuerdo a sus principios y sus valores. 5) El modelo de educación propuesto para la no violencia y la paz es aplicable en la medida en que se viva la doctrina que lo fundamenta, la unidad de la vida y de la no violencia.

This paper reports research regarding the relationship between consumer loyalty, satisfaction,and novelty seeking, including an analysis of these constructs as reflected in the published literature. A telephone survey was conducted of 500 city residents, focusing on their visitation of special events, including sporting events. It was found that satisfaction was somewhat positively related to interest in attending the same sporting event, and the intention to actually visit the sporting event again. However, novelty seeking was virtually unrelated to both interest in attending the same sporting event, and the intention to actually visit the sporting event, and unrelated to satisfaction. Novelty seeking in general, or in relation to special events particularly,performed similarly as a predictor. Further research is needed to clarify the role of other moderating variables, such as the feeling of involvement in sporting events, and to investigate segmentation aspects which might be operating in relation to specific sporting events and tourists.

Experience with community-based biodiversity conservation programs in the 1980s and 1990s contributed to the conviction among donor agencies and researchers that such programs must be based on the active support of local resource users, appropriate incentives, and institutional support. Yet the continuing struggles of practitioners to implement conservation interventions that are socially and ecologically sustainable point to difficulty in realizing these principles on the ground. Actor-oriented research in rural development and actor network theory emphasize that the capacity of facilitators to engage effectively in negotiation processes and establish strong networks with key actors is critical in mediating intervention outcomes. Drawing on the case of the India Ecodevelopment Project at Rajiv Gandhi (Nagarahole) National Park in Karnataka, India, this paper explores the role of relationships and networks between actors in a conservation and development intervention, finding that practitioners need to focus on negotiation and network building as a central rather than subsidiary part of the intervention process. Associated with this is the need for change in the way donor and implementing agencies conduct themselves, to promote communication and greater flexibility in intervention processes.

This project aimed to conceptualise and analyse empirically the antecedents of word-of-mouth in the context of an infrequently purchased service (tourism special events). The relationships examined included those between involvement, past experience, overall satisfaction, interest in attending next time, likelihood of attending next time, and the likelihood of recommending to others that they attend the event. There was some support for the overall model, in that the regressing of likelihood of recommending on the other variables produced an equation containing measures of most of the key variables, viz., revisit intention, satisfaction, revisit interest, and involvement. However, involvement appeared to operate in the opposite direction to that hypothesised.

One area of services marketing which has remained relatively underdeveloped, is the nature of the relationship between customer satisfaction and loyalty, and the moderating influences on this relationship, despite the fact that loyalty is essential for service business survival (Reichheld, 1993). This paper reports research regarding the relationship between consumer satisfaction, repurchase intention, and demographic characteristics. A telephone survey was conducted of 500 city residents, focusing on their visitation of tourism special events. The study found support for the findings of some recent, non-Australian, non-services research studies, in that respondent demographics were found to moderate the relationship between satisfaction and repurchase behaviour (in this case, repurchase intention), in an Australian services context.

The aim of the e-Chatter project was to facilitate the opportunity for Australian teacher education students to be involved in an authentic learning environment with international participants from culturally diverse settings, and for the international students to have the opportunity to be involved in an interactive English language program with first language English speakers. In the 2007 pilot project, participants were engaged in an online discussion on the topic of Australian Culture/Pakistani Culture/Iranian Culture respectively. Discussion was conducted in English and led by Deakin based students on an online learning environment which was a website dedicated to this project. The teacher education students were required to focus their attention on ‘Creating Effective Learning Environments’. They were required to develop and articulate their personal and professional perspectives on creating and managing learning environments with specific reference to online learning environments. This paper represents work in progress in the e-Chatter case study particularly from intercultural and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) perspectives.

The marketing literature identifies customer satisfaction as an immediate antecedent to customer loyalty. Recently, some marketing researchers have questioned the strength of this link. This thesis provides insight into the relationship between customer satisfaction and loyalty and determines the effects of moderating factors, particularly the need for variety, on the satisfaction-loyalty relationship.

In historical sketches of India-Australia or Australia-India relations, the important dimensions of the cultural and religious connections from the shared colonial period and Gandhi's nationalist voice echoing in all corners of the Empire, through to the diasporic migration, settlement and temple culture, is largely overlooked. This essay intends the redress that absence in current research and contribute toward a critical appraisal of that rather 'esoteric' part of history, arguably still in its infancy. The story begins close to the early white settlement period to the aftermath of the events of 9/11 (2001 in New York) and Bali (2002). The focus will be on Hindus with some reference to Sikhs, Muslims, Sri Lankan Tamils, and migrants from the subcontinent, as the conduits for the particular Indian-Australian diasporic connection and 'spiritual diplomacy' being explored.

 India will go to the polls from April 5 to May 12 to choose between three party leaders for its next prime minister. The first is a seasoned politician and three-time chief minister, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP, or Indian People’s Party) Narendra Modi. The second is a youth icon without experience in governance, Indian National Congress’ Rahul Gandhi. Finally, there is a former bureaucrat and utopian visionary who resigned from the post of chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal.

This Chapter is an exercise in comparative secularism. In this chapter I will be concerned basically with a critique of Western conceptions of secularism, beginning with Hegel’s invention of a particular reading of secularism that, through imperialist literature, gave a preeminent direction to the ideology of the less-religiously orientated Indian nationalists during their drawn-out independence struggle. My main concern will be to contrast the Western debates on ‘the secular’, particularly in its recent permutations or attempted revisions as a response to the crisis of modernity, with the current Indian debates—where ‘ the secular; has all but been hijacked by the Hindu Right—and to show—reversing Hegel’s trajectory—what impact the latter could have on the former. There is some evidence of this already occurring, particularly in Charles Taylor’s work and travels wherein he does make some gestures towards looking at non-Western experiences of secularism (which is taken more or less to be synonymous with secularization). There are severe limitations to this overture however, and the chapter hopes to sound a word of caution on the kind of excitement over which Taylor seems to have become something of a celebrity in the academe. Even more disappointingly, one does not find a similar emphatic approach or opening to non-Western experiences and rethinking of the secular in the works of other modernists; and I point to Habermas and Žižek as my examples, who I touch on, albeit very briefly. This lack or lacuna makes both the discourse of modernity and the supplementary critique of secularism much the poorer for it.
