A presenta dissertação pretende ser uma contribuição para o debate acerca das combinaçãoes e imbricaçãoes entre religião e política no Brasil, enfocando a atuação de dois vereadores da Câmara Municipal de Porto Alegre (CMPA) que são também pastores da Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (IURD). A etnografia do primeiro mandato destes pastores-vereadores, incluindo-se aí sua recente campanha à reeleição, traz para a reflexão acerca das interferências mútuas entre estes dois campos da realidade social.Se, no início, vemos tais parlamentares colocarem sua Igreja acima dos partidos e buscarem uma "sacralização" da tribuna, locus que pretendem converter em mais espaço de difusão da "palavra de Deus", com o passar do tempo, todavia, evidencia-se uma necessidade destes sujeitos se adequarem a uma lógica de atuação condizente com uma certa concepção de política vigente no país, a qual enfatiza a importância de uma democracia "moderna" e "laicizada". Entretanto, isto necessariamente não implica num enfraquecimento do papel de mediação que estes agentes cumprem ao estabelecer vínculos entre instâncias burocráticas-estatais e seus"fiéis-eleitores": as "doações" que fazem aos "necessitados" são inscritas numa lógica de reciprocidade que , baseada em elementos presentes num certo "imaginário religioso", se pretende bastante diferenciada do clientelismo e do assistencialismo. Por outro lado, a análise da votação obtida por estes parlamentares nas últimas eleições sugere que este "trabalho social" não foi suficiente para expandir as "bases eleitorais" para além do espaço da Igreja: ao invés de uma ampliação, houve um pequeno declínio em relação ao pleito anterior, convidando-nos a uma reflexão sobre os limites da expansão eleitoral dos "políticos religiosos".

Em fevereiro de 2002 tivemos a oportunidade de gravar uma entrevista de história oral com Agripino de Oliveira Lima Filho, prefeito de Presidente Prudente (SP) e fundador da Universidade do Oeste Paulista (Unoeste). A entrevista fazia parte do projeto “Trajetórias da universidade privada no Brasil”, desenvolvido pelo CPDOC em convênio com a Capes entre 2000 e 2002. O objetivo do projeto era conhecer as trajetórias de 14 universidades privadas não confessionais e não comunitárias instaladas em diferentes regiões do país, por meio da realização de entrevistas com dirigentes destas instituições. A escolha da metodologia de história oral visou a preencher uma lacuna diante do pequeno avanço das pesquisas qualitativas nessa área, especialmente se considerarmos o peso do ensino superior privado no país hoje.

Israel foi o país que mais cresceu em matéria de empreendedorismo desde sua concepção. Em seus quase 70 anos, a nação se tornou uma potência em matéria de inovação e tecnologia, em grande parte devido aos altos investimentos estrangeiros. Isso foi motivo de muita especulação e estudos acerca dos fatores por trás desse fenômeno. Este trabalho visa analisar os fatores que estimularam o empreendedorismo em Israel a fim de entender melhor sua realidade em comparação com o Brasil e refletir acerca das lições que podem ser aprendidas.

The subject of this research is the spiritual religious field, connected with the local cultural perspectives. Its basis is the analysis of two spiritual groups settled in Natal/RN: The Spiritual Group Evangelho no Lar and the Spiritual Center Garimpeiros da Luz . These two groups represent a point of convergence of several sectors of this religion, either through its insertion in the local sphere or in contact to nationally influent leaders, like the mediums Francisco Cândido Xavier and Divaldo Pereira Franco. Then, it aims to reach the potiguar singularities in their spiritualism approaches, looking for an analyses to possible connections between local values and themes from the spiritualism largely developed in Brazil. So, its objective is to act in the scope of influence, references, representations and adaptive practices in a local context, and they signalize special practices . The approaches until now developed refer only to the living of a Brazilian spiritualism, perfectly developed in contact with the catholic substrate, but there s still a gap about the local observation, with its peculiarities, which its research aims to disclosure. The option for a qualitative approach, in perfect relationship with the nature of the questions which were made was considered as an appropriate way to guide the study. To reach this, it will be made an ethnography of the studied groups, not only in the use of open interviews with its members but also in the contact and observation of its religious behavior, for example: meeting for studies of the doctrine, mediunic meetings, public lectures, helping the public in general. As results of this research we can point to the delimitation of local cultural references, which are undeniable, in relation to the identification of RN personalities who are considered coordinators or active spirits in the work performed by the groups. Thus, Auta de Souza, poetess and woman of great religiosity, Augusto Severo de Albuquerque Maranhão, martyr of the aeronautics, Father João Maria, object of popular devotion and Abdias Antônio de Oliveira, ex president of the Spiritual Federation of RN, present themselves as spiritual beings who lead the adaptability to the local context. In such a context, we have to point out the work of mediums, who, having a specific charisma, interacted with the groups in the establishment of these cultural bridges already made in their own contexts (national level), through the work equally possible to be locally reproduced. This and other facts, point out to perspectives of cultural circularity , including referring to a greater linking to sub layers in a true zone that converges and has circulation between an erudite spiritualism with another one, turned to the incorporation of local and popular elements

The study aims to discuss women in the priesthood pentecostalism evangelical. The role of women as agents of leadership in the religious sphere allows the discussion about the possibility of the universe as a religious area of significant changes with regard to a reduction in gender differences in the present. The participation of women as agents of leadership of churches Pentecostals is interpreted as a new option for women beyond the domestic space, however, want to clarify the existence and occurrence of on-imposed limitations and inserted in the hierarchy of female power of religious denominations, noting are fruits of a structure hierarquizante not thought of women, but from the male universe.

This study aims to analyze the relationship between music and religion in Max Weber s life and work, in a perspective that combines its intellectual productions in Sociology, in religion and art subfields. We developed a research in order to revisit the concept of rationalization, present in Weberian thought, and also to discuss how music and religion, as distinct spheres of life, star conflicts and alliances and build particular attitudes of action in the world, having the appearance of a rationality based on calculation in a central position to understand the construction of musical technique in the West and the autonomy of aesthetic enjoyment from religious enjoyment, previously linked. Regarding the procedure analysis, we built a symbolic cartography, according to Santos (2000), from selected works of Max Weber, as Religious rejections in the world and their directions (1982), among others. With the activity, we identified similarities and differences between music and religion in the author thoughts. We consider that the studied dimensions are important in Weberian analysis of the constitution of modern society and its cultural system, showing two distinct approaches to the issue of rationalization in the West

The aim of the present study is to investigate the way through which the relations between Mathematics and Religion emerge in the work of Blaise Pascal. This research is justified by the need to deepen these relations, so far little explored if compared to intersection points between Mathematics and other fields of knowledge. The choice for Pascal is given by the fact that he was one of the mathematicians who elaborated best one reflection in the religious field thus provoking contradictory reactions. As a methodology, it is a bibliographical and documental research with analytical-comparative reading of referential texts, among them the Oeuvres complètes de Pascal (1954), Le fonds pascalien à Clermont-Ferrand (2001), Mathematics in a postmodern age: a cristian perspective by Howell & Bradley (2001), Mathematics and the divine: a historical study by Koetsier & Bergmans (2005), the Anais dos Seminários Nacionais de História da Matemática and the Revista Brasileira de História da Matemática. The research involving Pascal's life as a mathematician and his religious experience was made. A wider background in which the subject matter emerges was also researched. Seven categories connected to the relation between mathematics and religion were identified from the reading of texts written by mathematicians and historians of mathematics. As a conclusion, the presence of four of these seven categories was verified in Pascal's work

The dialog between the East philosophy and the Western thinking allow us to think the problems inherent to our time from several point of views. Nishitani Keiji, from the Kyoto School, sees the contemporaneity, or the time of the technic, for Heidegger, as derivation and as an immediate consequence of perspective introduced in the modern era form the Cartesian s cogito which creates a barrier that separates man and world. Scientific thinking that dominates our era was created from the thinking that ennobles human reason to the detriment of the others things in the world, determining that the knowledge just can be produced by the man himself and his set of rational powers. However, alerts us Nishitani, this point of view derived from modern thought which imposes subjectivity egocentric type besides not apprehend things in their truth, neither achieves the true self of man. In an attempt to overcome the abuses produced in modernity and that reverberates in our way of be until today, our philosopher will propose the point of view of the nothingness (śūnyatā) as a way to trans-descendance, that is, to overcome the traditional thinking overvalues the reason for the encounter with the original face of man, which by no longer impose its cognitive power can know all things in their true, in the tathatā
