PELO ESTUDO, CONCLUI-SE QUE: O PROCESSO DE GLOBALIZAÇÃO TEM AFETADO A ECONOMIA BRASILEIRA E, PARTICULARMENTE, A CAPIXABA; EM RELAÇÃO AO SETOR DE CONFECÇÃO, O IMPACTO DA GLOBALIZAÇÃO NÃO TEM SIDO ACENTUADO; E O PROCESSO GERENCIAL DAS MICRO E PEQUENAS EMPRESAS DO RAMO DE CONFECÇÃO NO ESTADO, SURGIU COMO UMA DAS PRINCIPAIS CAUSAS DA FRAGILIDADE E INEFICÁCIA DO SETOR, TORNANDO-SE INADIÁVEIS E IMPERATIVAS AÇÕES QUE PROPICIEM O DESENVOLVIMENTO GERENCIAL, A FIM DE PERMITIR-LHE CONTRIBUIR PARA A DISTRIBUIÇÃO SOCIAL DOS MEIOS DE PRODUÇÃO.

Diagnóstico das micro e pequenas empresas da cadeia produtiva moveleira da serra gaúcha : importância para o desenvolvimento setorial

The increasing of afluence demands the companies to be competitive and have a deep knowledge about the area wich they are participating. Through the search of management and produtive information, and the analisys of internal and external information, the company could identify strong and weak points , threats and oportunities, alowing the obtaince of competitive advantages. This research shows the result of a close search study about the usage of strategic planning and management technics, setting in evidence the necessity of micro and small furniture companies and furniture supply chain, represented in this case by sub-contract companies. Still looking to accentuate the importance that this study will represent to the setorial development, specially to the furniture companies wich have a big importance due to the report of small utilization of management technics in the sub-contract companies. Through analisys, it was possible to find out some common caracteristics in all 171 conmpanies evaluated, wich are showing likely 'sinalization', such as: - lower level os scholarship (96,5% elementary school, 3% until high school, 0,5% university/college graduration); - external market from Brazilian MPE¿s (5% export products to Mercosul and just 1% export products to Latin America, absenting exportations to other markets); - carefree with modern technics of management, certificates ISO 9000, 14000, MRP, CQT, among others; - carefree with strategic planning; - lower utilization of operacionl procedures, rules and function description; - ignoring the participating of market; - lower utilization of human resources index as a management form; - Small utilization of costs tabs (31%), with a small informatization level (8%) and apllying with non-management form; - low utilization of quality statistics (4%), re-working index (9%), among others. In syntesis, the basis expose that the great marjority of companies don¿t have knowledge about planning and the modern technics of management.

Gestão do conhecimento e criação de valor: um estudo exploratório em empresas brasileiras

Nos últimos dez anos a gestão do conhecimento tem crescido em importância tanto no meio acadêmico como empresarial. Ainda que alguns permaneçam céticos, sua relevância para a competitividade das organizações tem se tornado cada vez mais um ponto de concordância nos dois ambientes, como uma resposta aos desafios sociais e econômicos impostos. Estes desafios impulsionam a gestão do conhecimento vista como uma disciplina interdisciplinar focada nos agentes e no seu ambiente, e no processo de criação, mapeamento e transferência do conhecimento, com o objetivo final de gerar vantagens competitivas sustentáveis. Apesar de muitos estudos específicos, ainda são poucos os trabalhos que buscam avaliar a adoção da gestão do conhecimento como abordagem ampla, quase como um novo paradigma gerencial adaptado à nova realidade econômica vigente, assim como são poucos os estudos que buscam avaliar o impacto na criação de valor de estratégias focadas no conhecimento. Este trabalho visa preencher essa lacuna, avaliando a adoção de práticas, conceitos e atitudes vinculadas à gestão do conhecimento em empresas de grande e pequeno porte criadoras de valor, através de estudos de caso. Para isso, o trabalho partiu de uma ampla revisão da literatura em torno do tema para definir um conjunto de práticas associadas ao conceito de gestão do conhecimento, dividido em seis dimensões: estratégia, estrutura, tecnologia da informação, cultura e pessoas, sistemas de suporte e processos. A partir deste levantamento, instrumentos distintos – questionário e roteiro de entrevista - foram elaborados para estudar as grandes e pequenas empresas. A pesquisa de campo só foi realizada após a validação do instrumento por especialistas na área, que avaliaram cada item com relação a sua total, parcial ou marginal associação ao conceito de gestão do conhecimento. Os resultados mostram que, independente do tamanho, as empresas criadoras de valor adotam muitas das práticas associadas a gestão do conhecimento em cinco das seis dimensões estudadas. Além destes indícios, o trabalho também contribui ao deixar um rol de mais de duzentos e trinta itens validados com relação ao conceito de gestão do conhecimento, que podem ser testados e aperfeiçoados.

Estudo sobre a mortalidade e sobrevivência de micro e pequenas empresas natalenses e seus impactos nas políticas públicas pró-empreendedorismo

The principal purpose of this research was to investigate discriminant factors of survival and failure of micro and small businesses, and the impacts of these factors in the public politics for entrepreneurship in the State of Rio Grande do Norte. The data were ceded by SEBRAE/RN and the Commercial Committee of the Rio Grande do Norte State and it included the businesses that were registered in 2000, 2001 and 2002. According to the theoretical framework 3 groups of factors were defined Business Financial Structure, Entrepreneurial Preparation and Entrepreneurial Behavior , and the factors were studied in order to determine whether they are discriminant or not of the survival and business failure. A quantitative research was applied and advanced statistical techniques were used multivariate data analysis , beginning with the factorial analysis and after using the discriminant analysis. As a result, canonical discriminant functions were found and they partially explained the survival and business failure in terms of the factors and groups of factors. The analysis also permitted the evaluation of the public politics for entrepreneurship and it was verified, according to the view of the entrepreneurs, that these politics were weakly effective to avoid business failure. Some changes in the referred politics were suggested based on the most significant factors found.

Burocracia e comércio exterior: os desafios à exportação sob a ótica das micro e pequenas empresas exportadoras do rio grande do norte

As micro e pequenas empresas, ao mesmo tempo em que exercem um papel extremamente relevante na estrutura produtiva da economia brasileira pelo grande número de empreendedores existentes e expressivo volume de pessoal ocupado, perdem competitividade ao se deparar com entraves ao seu desenvolvimento, sejam eles em âmbito gerencial, financeiro, burocrático ou estrutural. Com base nesse contexto, o estudo procura identificar em que medida, na percepção das MPEs exportadoras do Rio Grande do Norte, as exigências burocráticas do processo exportador afetam o seu desempenho no comércio exterior. Como exigências burocráticas compreende-se o conjunto de normas, regras e procedimentos e documentos que disciplinam o processo exportador, enquanto desempenho é entendido como os resultados da atividade econômica medido através do crescimento das vendas para o mercado externo; das demandas de produtos exportados não atendidas e da ampliação do mercado internacional. A pesquisa realizada é de caráter censitário, desenvolvida junto a quatorze MPEs do estado, atuantes regularmente no comércio exterior nos últimos três anos (2009-2011), utilizando aplicação de questionário, assim como uma consulta a dados secundários disponíveis. A análise dos dados levantados revelou que, efetivamente, na percepção dos respondentes, fatores externos como o custo do processo de exportação, falta de incentivo do governo, excesso de controle dos órgãos públicos e a infraestrutura logística do estado exercem influência na pequena participação das MPEs nas exportações do Brasil e do Nordeste, enquanto o bom desempenho exportador destas relaciona-se a fatores gerenciais, com destaque para investimentos na estrutura organizacional da empresa, conhecimento do mercado internacional e bom relacionamento com clientes e mercados

Proposta de um modelo de gestão da qualidade para micro e pequenas empresas integrando a estratégia seis sigma à NBR ISO 9001

This work has as its main purpose to set a model of Quality Management for micro and small companies integrating the management models: Six Sigma strategy to NBR ISO 9001:2000. An exploratory research is developed to collect technical and bibliographical information on both methods, emphasizing their integration. Then, a survey is carried out on 65 analysts/consultants of Quality Management Systems and it has detected, besides other factors, that current methodologies must be associated in order to reach better results. At last, it proposes the Sigma 9001 model, which aims to make it possible for micro and small companies to objectively and with low costs, implement a Quality Management System, able to assure competitive advantage through improvement identification in the processes, as well as an improvement in the companies management

Docking and small angle X-ray scattering studies of purine nucleoside phosphorylase

Docking simulations have been used to assess protein complexes with some success. Small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) is a well-established technique to investigate protein spatial configuration. This work describes the integration of geometric docking with SAXS to investigate the quaternary structure of recombinant human purine nucleoside phosphorylase (PNP). This enzyme catalyzes the reversible phosphorolysis of N-ribosidic bonds of purine nucleosides and deoxynucleosides. A genetic deficiency due to mutations in the gene encoding for PNP causes gradual decrease in T-cell immunity. Inappropriate activation of T-cells has been implicated in several clinically relevant human conditions such as transplant rejection, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and T-cell lymphomas. PNP is therefore a target for inhibitor development aiming at T-cell immune response modulation and has been submitted to extensive structure-based drug design. The present analysis confirms the trimeric structure observed in the crystal. The potential application of the present procedure to other systems is discussed. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V. A thermoporometry and small-angle x-ray scattering study of wet silica sonogels as the pore volume fraction is varied

Silica sonogels with different porosities were prepared by acid sono-hydrolysis of tetraethoxysilane. Wet sonogels were studied using small-angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The DSC shows a broad thermal peak below the normal water melting point associated with the melting of confined ice nanocrystals, or nanoporosity. The nanopore size distribution was determined from the Gibbs-Thomson equation. As the porosity is increased, a second sharp DSC thermal peak with onset temperature at the water melting point is apparent, which was associated with the melting of ice macrocrystals, or macroporosity. The DSC result could be causing misinterpretation of the macroporosity because water may not be exactly confined in very feeble silica network regions in sonogels with high porosity. The structure of the wet gels can be described fairly well as mutually self-similar mass fractal structures with characteristic length. increasing from similar to 1.8 to similar to 5.4 nm and mass fractal dimension D diminishing discretely from similar to 2.6 to similar to 2.3 as the porosity increases in the range studied. More specifically, such a structure could be described using a two-parameter correlation function gamma(r) similar to r(D-3) exp(-r/xi), which is limited at larger scale by the cut-off distance xi but without a well-defined small scale cut-off distance, at least up to the maximum angular domain probed using SAXS in the present study.

Molecular modeling and small angle X-ray scattering studies of Hoplosternum littorale cathodic haemoglobin

Considerable interest is currently focused on fish haemoglobins in order to identify the structural basis for their diversity of functional behavior. Hoplosternum littorale is a catfish that presents bimodal gill (water)/gut (air) -breathing, which allows this species to survive in waters with low oxygen content. The hemolysate of this fish showed the presence of two main haemoglobins, cathodic and anodic. This work describes structural features analyzed here by integration of molecular modeling with small angle X-ray scattering. Here is described a molecular model for the cathodic haemoglobin in the unliganded and liganded states. The models were determined by molecular modeling based on the high-resolution crystal structure of fish haemoglobins. The chemistry of enaminones, diazocarbonyls and small rings: our contribution

After thirty two years in Brazil and retired from Universidade Estadual de Campinas the author wishes to present this account, a summary of a large part of the research in synthetic methodology developed by the research groups of Albert J. Kascheres and the author at Universidade Estadual de Campinas Chemistry Institute. Contributions have been made to the area of enaminones, diazocarbonyls, cyclopropenones and azirines.

Preparation and Characterization of Novel Micro- and Nanocomposite Hydrogels Containing Cellulosic Fibrils

The Effects of N Helix Deletion and Mutant F29W on the Ca2+ Binding and Functional Properties of Chicken Skeletal Muscle Troponin C

To assess the structural and functional significance of the N helix (residues 3-13) of avian recombinant troponin C (rTnC), we have constructed NHdel, in which residues 1-11 have been deleted, both in rTnC and in the spectral probe mutant F29W (Pearlstone, J. R., Borgford, T., Chandra, M., Oikawa, K., Kay, C. M., Herzberg, O., Moult, J., Herklotz, A., Reinach, F. C., and Smillie, L.B. (1992) Biochemistry 31, 6545-6553). Comparison of the far- and near-UV CD spectra (±Ca2+) of F29W and F29W/ NHdel and titration of the Ca2+-induced ellipticity and fluorescence changes indicates that the deletion has little effect on the global fold of the molecule but reduces the Ca2+ affinity of the N domain, but not the C domain, by 1.6-1.8-fold. Comparisons of the mutants NHdel, F29W, and F29W/NHdel with rTnC have been made using several functional assays. In reconstituted troponin-tropomyosin actomyosin subfragment 1 and myofibrillar ATPase systems, both F29W and NHdel have significantly reduced Ca2+-activated enzymic activities. These effects are cumulative in the double mutant F29W/ NHdel. On the other hand, maximal isometric tension development in Ca2+-activated reconstituted skinned fibers is not affected with F29W and NHdel, although the Ca2+ sensitivity of NHdel in this system is markedly reduced. We conclude that both mutations, NHdel and F29W, are functionally deleterious, possibly affecting interactions of the N domain with troponin I and/or T.

Electrical properties of individual and small ensembles of InAs/InP nanostructures

We investigate electrical properties of InAs/InP semiconductor nanostructures by conductive atomic force microscopy (C-AFM) and current measurements at low temperatures in processed devices. Different conductances and threshold voltages for current onset were observed for each type of nanostructure. In particular, the extremity of the wire could be compared to a dot with similar dimensions. The processed devices were used in order to access the in-plane conductance of an assembly of a reduced number of nanostructures. Here, fluctuations on I-V curves at low temperatures (<40 K) were observed. At these low temperatures and for a suitable range of applied voltages, random telegraph noise (RTN) in the current was observed for devices with dots. These fluctuations can be associated to electrons trapped in dots, as suggested by numerical simulations. A crossover from a semiconductor-like to a metallic transport behavior is also observed for similar parameters. © 2006 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
