As representações sociais da Geografia escolar: um olhar sobre a prática didático-pedagógica

To present research had for study object to understand the social representations of the school geography for the students of the Municipal Schools Lions Prata and Dr. Francisco Brasileiro, located in the neighborhood of Catolé, and in Santa Terezinha District, respectively, in the municipal district of Campina Grande/PB. The objective of that study consisted of identifying, to understand and to analyze those apprehensions in the form as they are communicated and executed at the school and in the society. That search is due to the fact that the constant reproduction of the same ones in the current world context in that we are inserted doesn't to the understanding of the being's complexity and of the knowledge in the educational and social extent. Like this, we considered urgent their dialogues in practice didactic-pedagogic of the geography for ressignificar the geographical knowledge produced in the city. Authors as Moscovici; Jodelet; Bourdieu; Tuan; Foucault; Castoriadis; Morin among others contributed in the reflexive mediation of the imaginary symbolic emitted by the interior speeches of the 281 (two hundred and eighty and a) researched students. Those corresponded to 64,0% (sixty four) integral of the enrolled ones in the two schools of the municipal public system of teaching (INEP, 2005). A qualitative-quantitative survey was used and its answers were categorized by using the statistical description of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences SPSS Program. The freeassociation of words technique was also used in order to verify some information. The results revealed that the social representations of geography are still grounded in fragmented, content-based, positivistic and functional conceptions of man, society and the world. Manifestation of a traditional and organicistic teaching, this unveiling excludes the historical capacity of the students creative construction of knowledge, as well as a competent and demanding educational mediation

Orientação geográfica: uma proposta metodológica para o ensino da geografia na 5ª série

Cartographical representations (maps, charters and plans) are taken as didactic resources in Geography classes in the 5th grade of the municipal public schools in São José de Ribamar through a methodological approach taking into consideration the use of those resources is still worries an important part of the teachers of the Maranhão State public schools who teach in this level. Papers related to the theme, most of the time, are non accessible to the teachers of the maranhense public schools, mainly because the education instilutions, which use those resources, do it in a very incipient way. So this research proposes from the drawings of magnetccoursein the school courtyards, together with maps, charts, plans among others representation used in the classroom environment, motivate the students to a deeper interests in participating in Geography learning process in the 5th grade. Interviews, analyses of socialcultural questionnaires of the families involved in the process; observations of classes, trainings, geocartographical orientations, application of pre and posttests, discussions about the usage of cartographic representations, proposed and effectivated tasks in the classroom, as well as around the school, were the basis of the researched population. As a result of this process, it was produced a was complement didatical material showing, among others, the space in which students, for sure, will contribute in an effective way to a better teaching practice in the chain of maranhense public schools, having in mind that these geographic subjects may be taught in the level we focused our study

A metodologia sistêmica na geografia agrária: um estudo sobre a territorialização dos assentamentos rurais

Este artigo tem como objetivo demonstrar a importância da metodologia sistêmica em pesquisas nas Ciências Humanas, em especial na Geografia Agrária, através da avaliação das alterações socioeconômicas e territoriais dos assentamentos rurais. O artigo foi divido em partes, primeiro foi realizado um estudo teórico da metodologia sistêmica e em seguida, a aplicação dessa metodologia para avaliar os impactos da territorialização dos assentamentos rurais, na organização espacial de Candiota no estado do Rio Grande do Sul.

Geografia: o olhar e a imagem pictórica

Este artigo objetiva apresentar, de forma introdutória, a possibilidade e a necessidade de diálogo entre a linguagem pictórica e o discurso científico da Geografia. Para tal, apresenta alguns elementos do alfabeto das pinturas de imagens a partir tanto da semiótica quanto da gestalt, analisadas por Fayga Ostrower e Donis Dondis. O exercício interpretativo dá-se a partir do conceito de paisagem aplicado sobre as imagens elaboradas artisticamente por grandes pintores da humanidade, contextualizando-as a partir dos elementos técnicos e tecnológicos que existiam na época e no lugar, e da forma como esses interferem nos processos de elaboração e interpretação das obras. Para exemplificar isso, utilizam-se três pinturas elaboradas em diferentes períodos, a partir da Europa medieval até o mundo moderno, apresentando, assim, os aspectos gerais que levavam à mudança de leitura espacial do território produzido a partir da consolidação do mundo urbano, industrial e baseado na lógica da mercadoria.

Functionalism, in its postulates and in its methods, can be seen not only as a reaction to geographical positivism and evolutionism but as a reflection of political tendencies and interests in the 20th century. Tries to develop both an evolutional analysis and a critical appraisal of Brazilian industrial geography. This is a little-explored area in Brazil, as geographers have tended to focus on local and regional studies, rather than pursuing a holistic view of the national industrial system. Desenvolvimento da quantificacao em geografia

Considering the textbooks, papers and articles published during the last decades, this paper deals with the development of the quantitative analysis in Geography. The comments are grouped into the following thematic questions: contributions aiming to introduce concepts and techniques in the geographical issues, focusing statistical and mathematical background and specific techniques about spatial and temporal distributions; contributions evaluating the potentialities of the quantification; contributions showing the character and applicability of the quantificative techniques, and the state of the use of these techniques in Brazilian literature and teaching. -English summary

Logística, sistemas de movimento, fluxos econômicos e interações espaciais no território Paulista: Uma abordagem para a geografia dos transportes e circulação

This work aims to express the production and consumption changes occurred in the State of São Paulo in line with the logistics, the systems of movement and the economic flows. The mentioned productive and consumption devolutions towards the interior just was possible in the fast rhythm, with the hierarchical combination of some basic elements, such as: 1) the logistics as strategy, planning and management (including in the concession of public services to the private enterprise) of transports, storage and communications; 2) the technological improvement of systems of movement (infrastructure and means of transportation) and 3) the economic flows (goods, services, informations, capital gains and people) in the territory. Thus, we go to an analysis of the impacts of the fifth logistics revolution and the alternatives between systems of movement and territorial fluidity in the service of corporative demands in the space pertaining to the State of São Paulo. © Copyright Scripta Nova, 2009.

Aspectos físicos e sociais da geografia da disponibilidade hídrica municipal no Brasil

In managing water resources, indexes are used to simplify and quantify available information as well as report the characteristics of a region under study. These indexes may be extremely demanding concerning information required, or very simple, and the water poverty index and Falkenmark index are examples of both extreme situations, respectively. Searching for an index that considers regional and local complexities and information available in developing countries, a new index was developed to evaluate the population accessibility to water resources. This new index combines the Human Development Index and Falkenmark Index and geographic information systems. The results are presented in figures which show the situation at national level, highlighting that the Northeast and Southeast regions are the most vulnerable in Brazil.
