Die Dissertation behandelt eine für das Badewesen bedeutende Epoche, die sich durch den Beginn des sportorientierten Bäderbaus auszeichnet. Es entsteht ein neuer architektonischer Hallenschwimmbadtypus und es etabliert sich eine gemeinsame Badekultur von Mann und Frau - zwei Errungenschaften, die den Bäderbau bis in die Gegenwart prägen. Viele Bauprojekte und Ideen kamen allerdings durch die Wirtschaftskrisen jener Zeit frühzeitig zum Erliegen, sodass die baulichen Leistungen der Kommunen nicht nur an den Ausführungen, sondern auch an den Entwürfen abgelesen werden müssen. Die kommunale Hallenbäderarchitektur veranschaulicht paradigmatisch die Sozialgeschichte, die Sport- und Hygienebewegung sowie die Genderentwicklung der Zwanziger Jahre. Mangels an Würdigung einerseits sowie einer seit den letzten Jahrzehnten zunehmenden Freizeitorientierung im Bäderbau andererseits wird der Erhalt der schwimmsportorientierten Bäderarchitektur durch Leerstände, Umnutzungen und Abbrüche gefährdet. Durch die Aufarbeitung der Historie und zeitgenössischen Diskurse, die Vermittlung der planerischen Grundlagen sowie durch die Analyse, Auswertung und Typologie des historischen Bäderbestandes der Zwanziger Jahre wird eine fundierte Basis geschaffen, um die Hallenbäderarchitektur als Bedeutungsträger ihrer Zeit angemessen zu würdigen.

Dental impression is an important step in the preparation of prostheses since it provides the reproduction of anatomic and surface details of teeth and adjacent structures. The objective of this study was to evaluate the linear dimensional alterations in gypsum dies obtained with different elastomeric materials, using a resin coping impression technique with individual shells. A master cast made of stainless steel with fixed prosthesis characteristics with two prepared abutment teeth was used to obtain the impressions. References points (A, B, C, D, E and F) were recorded on the occlusal and buccal surfaces of abutments to register the distances. The impressions were obtained using the following materials: polyether, mercaptan-polysulfide, addition silicone, and condensation silicone. The transfer impressions were made with custom trays and an irreversible hydrocolloid material and were poured with type IV gypsum. The distances between identified points in gypsum dies were measured using an optical microscope and the results were statistically analyzed by ANOVA (p < 0.05) and Tukey's test. The mean of the distances were registered as follows: addition silicone (AB = 13.6 µm, CD=15.0 µm, EF = 14.6 µm, GH=15.2 µm), mercaptan-polysulfide (AB = 36.0 µm, CD = 36.0 µm, EF = 39.6 µm, GH = 40.6 µm), polyether (AB = 35.2 µm, CD = 35.6 µm, EF = 39.4 µm, GH = 41.4 µm) and condensation silicone (AB = 69.2 µm, CD = 71.0 µm, EF = 80.6 µm, GH = 81.2 µm). All of the measurements found in gypsum dies were compared to those of a master cast. The results demonstrated that the addition silicone provides the best stability of the compounds tested, followed by polyether, polysulfide and condensation silicone. No statistical differences were obtained between polyether and mercaptan-polysulfide materials.

Al-3-11% Si alloys have been high-pressure die-cast and characterized microstructurally. Alstruc was used to calculate the solidification characteristics and fraction of eutectic. Defect bands were observed at all Si contents, although their constitution, position and distinctiveness were a function of Si content. The defect bands contain a higher fraction Al-Si eutectic than the surroundings in all alloys, and porosity was additionally found in the band in AlSi3. With decreasing Si content, the defect bands formed closer to the casting surface, became more prevalent and also the width of the bands decreased. These differences are discussed by considering the effect of Si content on the distribution of solid in the mushy wall layers and on the feeding potentials of the alloys. The observations are consistent with the mechanism proposed by Gourlay et al. in which bands form due to deformation within the solidifying mushy wall layers. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. This paper defines Die Surface Designer (DSD) System for fast draw die in the product development feasibility phase on surfaces coming from styling. We propose a CAD integration, for better support the design process in industry, particularly on the development of new products in automotive sector. The DSD system intends to reduce the lead time by providing and integrating flexible and efficient capabilities for testing early concepts from surface analysis points of view in automotive product development.
