Intelligent Search and Automatic Document Classification and Cataloging Based on Ontology Approach

This paper presents an approach to development of intelligent search system and automatic document classification and cataloging tools for CASE-system based on metadata. The described method uses advantages of ontology approach and traditional approach based on keywords. The method has powerful intelligent means and it can be integrated with existing document search systems.

Highlights from the 2016 Sustainable and Social Entrepreneurship Enterprises Roundtable

The April 2016 Sustainable and Social Entrepreneurship Enterprises roundtable brought together over 20 faculty, students, and leaders and entrepreneurs from a wide variety of mission-driven enterprises that focus on sustainability or social welfare. Jeanne Varney, lecturer at the School of Hotel Administration, opened the day by inviting attendees to speak to and even test some of their innovative ideas on fellow participants during the day. Varney noted: “One of our goals for the roundtable was to have a really diverse set of attendees and to hear a lot of different perspectives.”

Exploring Ideas from Hospitality, Health Management, and Design for Senior Housing and Care: Insights from 2016 CIHF Senior Living Roundtable

The first Cornell Institute for Healthy Futures (CIHF) roundtable, held in April 2016, brought together senior-level executives, educators, and leaders in senior housing and care to share experiences and exchange ideas. CIHF roundtables are purposely limited to approximately 25 to 30 participants “at the table” to foster discussion on a more intimate basis than traditional conferences. In addition to the formal participants, students, faculty, and guests observed and interacted during the event and attended a separate panel discussion, and reception the evening before. Students, faculty, and industry leaders also met together at a working luncheon session to brainstorm ideas for recruiting and training young talent for careers in the senior housing and care industry.

Virtual Research Environments Roundtable

The roundtable offered an opportunity to share experiences and perceptions of virtual research environments. John Doove (SURFfoundation) presented his impressions from the VRE projects. Jim Farmer, Instructional Media + Magic led a 50 minute discussion on key developments and challenges. The discussion included issues like: An emerging issue is the sharp and continuous increase of data in an era of limited resources. These increases often reduce the effectiveness of search-additional time is required to find expected results. Would new methods of search may be useful? Should this be included as services in a VRE? The form of much new 'knowledge' is in informal 'publications' such as blogs, email, audio, and video which lack the precise metadata of books and journal articles. Could VRE services assist in using these resources as well? The programme continued with discussions on business models for sustainability led by Birte Christensen-Dalsgaard, The Royal Library, and policy and funders' interventions led by Sigrun Eckelmann, DFG.

Between the Graduate School and Cataloging: How a Digital Collections Center Contributes Quality to the ETD Process

This presentation was given at the 2015 USETDA (United States Electronic Theses and Dissertations Association) conference in Austin, Texas explores the history of Digital Collections Center at Florida International University and where and how it functions in the process of publishing, archiving, and promoting the university's electronic theses and dissertations. Additionally, the functionality of Digital Commons is discussed along with the use of Adobe Acrobat for creating archival quality PDFs. The final section discusses promotion techniques used via social media for increased discoverability of ETDs.

A complexity-based diagnostic on the democratic unity roundtable mud: problems and alternatives (2008-2016)

Este trabajo exploratorio estudia al movimiento político Mesa de la Unidad Democrática (MUD), creada con el fin de oponerse la Gobierno socialista existente en venezuela. La crítica que este documento realiza, parte desde el punto de vista de la Ciencia de la Complejidad. Algunos conceptos clave de sistemas complejos han sido utilizados para explicar el funcionamiento y organización de la MUD, esto con el objetivo de generar un diagnóstico integral de los problemas que enfrenta, y evidenciar las nuevas percepciones sobre comportamientos perjudiciales que el partido tiene actualmente.
