The practice of regular physical activity has been considered a protective factor against the degenerative processes of the body, acting as a promoter of health, especially for risk groups such as obese and resistant groups exercise adherence as among the intellectually disabled (ID) . This study involved the administration of a training protocol and the physical parameters of longitudinal health in a subject about 43 years, intellectually deficient, hypertensive, obese and with a strong predisposition to develop diabetes and heart disease. The main objective of long-term program was to reduce body weight and normalize blood pressure (BP) after the student's physical activity and preferentially interfere with BP values at rest (ie before the daily schedule). The other objective was to improve general physical fitness. The protocol involved four meetings per week lasting one hour, in addition to participation in the program PROEFA (twice a week with sessions of one hour each), totaling 57 sessions spread over five months. The evaluation protocol included in each session the following tests: blood pressure measurements and heart rate, and amount of physical activity recorded via pedometer. Tests applied before and after the training included: anthropometric assessment, agility test, flexibility test, test drive through vertical and horizontal jumps and endurance to the test bench. The mass (kg) and BMI corresponded to the initial values of 127.7 kg and 42.05 kg m-2, and 5 months after 113.2 kg and 37.48 kg m-2, respectively. The waist-hip ratio was close to 1 after the intervention and this value corresponded to 0.98. For the test of agility (shuttle run) was not found improvement in performance. This work presents experimental results of some physical properties of antimony phosphate glasses with compositions (x) Sb2O3 - (1-x) P2O5 (x = 0.75, 0.85, 0.90). Mechanical, thermal, optical and electrical properties were investigated: density, elastic moduli (Young's moduli and Poisson's ratio), Vickers microhardness, coefficient of thermal expansion, glass transition temperature, refractive index and electrical conductivity (for x = 0.75). There was no evidence of electronic conductivity by bipolaron hopping. Measurements of energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) showed that volatilization of Sb2O3 takes place during the glass melting

The present study aimed to analyze the performance of 'boost' among water polo athletes. Twelve athletes (13,9  1,08 years, 169,0  6,0 cm and 59,5  13,5 kg of bodyweight) were under went to anthropometric assessment, body composition and maximum concentric strength of lower limbs. The jump test in the water was done by 'boost' and scaled to jump height. According to the results of strength (Leg Press 45: 157,08  43,30 kg Leg Extension: 72,08  12,86 kg), anthropometry (arm circumf.: 26,04  3,25 cm, thigh circumf.: 50,47  7,65 cm, sholder circumf.: 95,97  8,00 cm, elbow diam.: 4,74  0,51 cm, wrist diam.: 3,21  0,34 cm, knee diam.: 7,89  0,58 cm, biacromial diam.: 37,49  3,81 cm and bi-iliac diam.: 25,43  4,34 cm) and body composition (BMI: 20,74  4,00 kg / m² and% fat: 8,45  4,28), only stature showed a linear correlation (r= 0,595) to the values of vertical jump (height: 47,80  4,35 cm) performance. This anthropometric variable was one able to influence the height of performance by modifying it self, perhaps by maturity. However maturity may be an implicity feature of performance, since force is a concerned effect of the growth. Otherwise technique could play a mains role to the performance of the 'boost'. It can be conclude that possibly is advantageous for water polo athlete be higher and more mature for the realization of 'boost', and the training directed for the technique, but is necessary muscle fitness for the holder

The goal of the present study was to investigate possible differences towards strenght recovery measured by different methods and running economy (RE), after one session of downhill running (DR), in order to induce muscle damage (MD). Our hypothesis is that the strenght recovery measured by jumps is more alike RE markers, due to the measures' specificity. Ten male subjects, ages 18 to 30, apparently healthy, without any experience with strenght training at least 6 months before the tests took place in this study. After going to the lab twice (to familiarize themselves with the protocols, and determine their maximum oxygen consumption/running speeds), they went to the lab five times in the following week, in order to collect all the variables before, immediately after, and 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours in. The variables obtained were: stride frequency (SF), stride lenght (SL), oxygen volume (VO2), carbon dioxide volume (VCO2), ventilation (VE), lactate blood concentration ([Lac]), isometric peak torque (IPT), subjective pain perception (SPP), effort perception (EP), medial-portion circumference (CIR), knee movement extent (EXT), torque development rate (TDR), counter movement jump and squat jump height (HCM and HS), strenght development rate of both jumps (SDCM and SDS), and maximum soil strenght reaction (SRCM and SRS). Changes over time in all variables were verified by one way variancy analysis. Differences between the strenght measures were verified by two way variancy analysis. When significant effects were verified, Tuckey's post-hoc were applied. The significancy level taken on this study was p < 0,05. Of all indirect muscle damage markers, IPT, SPP and TDR were the only ones in which ocurred significant changes. We couldn't find the moments where this happened for TDR with the post-hoc used. On RE markers, VO2, [Lac] and VE suffered significant effects over time. About the jumps variables, only SDCM and HCM presented significant...

Soccer is characterized as a sport that has exercises such as jumping, high-intensity and easy running, directional changes among, and other things. These features characterize soccer as an intermittent exercise. Nutrition along with proper exercise programs can be an excellent tool for the success or failure of the team in a championship. The nutrition, when properly oriented, can decrease fatigue of athletes and also optimize their recovery level, which may result in maintenance of performance along with less risk of injury. This study researched in database Pubmed, Scielo and Bireme, using the following words: futebol, nutrição, carboidrato, carbohydrate, soccer, and nutrition. Carbohydrate is a macronutrient used as energy source for performing exercise and its prevalence is varied according to both volume and intensity of exercise. In soccer, there is recommendation for carbohydrate intake before exercise in order to increase the availability of blood glucose, which in turn results in exercise improved capacity. In addition, carbohydrate intake during exercise increases the rapid replacement of all muscle glycogen reserves lost. Finally, the post-exercise consumption is important in the recovery of several nutritional factors such as muscle glycogen restoration, replacement of fluids and also electrolytes. In this sense, a well-oriented carbohydrate intake will result in improved athlete performance, and than may also promotes the success of their team at the end of the championship

O propósito deste estudo foi estimar a contribuição dos fatores genéticos e ambientais na variabilidade do desempenho interindividual na coordenação motora. A amostra foi constituída por 64 pares de gêmeos portugueses, com idades entre cinco e 14 anos. Avaliou-se o desempenho da coordenação através das quatro provas da bateria KTK: equilíbrio à retaguarda (ER); saltos monopedais (SM); transposição lateral (TL); saltos laterais (SL). Calculou-se o coeficiente de correlação intraclasse (t), sendo estimada a contribuição dos fatores genéticos (a²), ambientais comuns (c²) e únicos (e²). Os resultados mostram valores de t mais elevados entre gêmeos monozigóticos, sugerindo presença de fatores genéticos. Entretanto, estimativas de a² foram baixas, variando entre 15% (TL) e 41% (SM), enquanto para c² situaram-se entre 46% (SL) e 58% (TL), e para e² entre 11% (SM) e 28% (TL). Conclui-se que fatores ambientais são responsáveis pela maior parcela de influência na variabilidade do desempenho na coordenação motora.

[ES] Estudiamos el rendimiento en el salto vertical y como podría verse afectado por la composición corporal en 13 niñas que practicaban gimnasia rítmica (GR; 10.4 ± 0.9 años) y13 niñas control (CO; 9.9 ± 0.7 años). La composición corporal fue determinada mediante antropometría y DXA. Se realizaron saltos con y sin contramovimiento (CMJ y SJ) sobre una plataforma de fuerza analizándose entre otras variables la altura de vuelo (AV), velocidad de despegue (VD), velocidad vertical máxima del centro de masas (Vimax), la potencia media(Pm), el impulso mecánico positivo (Ipos), tiempo de fuerza máxima (Tfmax) y potencia instantánea máxima (Pimax). Las gimnastas consiguieron una AV, VD, Ipos y Vimax mayor en ambos saltos y una Pm, Tfmax y Pimax mayores en el CMJ que las control (p<0.05). En conclusión, practicar gimnasia rítmica se asocia a un mayor rendimiento en el salto vertical.

[ES] El objetivo de este estudio ha sido determinar si es posible predecir la altura de vuelo en el salto vertical a partir de variables cinemáticas, dinamométricas y antropométricas, mediante un modelo de regresión múltiple lineal. Participaron en el estudio 53 sujetos, 21 hombres jugadores de voleibol de categorías nacionales (División de Honor y Primera División) y 9 mujeres jugadoras de voleibol de División de Honor, así como 23 estudiantes de Educación Física, de los cuales 12 eran hombres y 11 mujeres. Inicialmente se determinó la altura de vuelo en saltos efectuados sin contramovimiento o "squat jumps" (SJ) y en saltos precedidos por un contramovimiento o "countermovement jumps" (CMJ). Además, se determinó la fuerza isométrica máxima (FIM) en posición de semisentadillla, con las rodillas flexionadas a 90º, 120º y 140º , simultáneamente se tomaron medidas de la actividad electromiográfica del vasto externo del cuádriceps. La masa muscular de las extremidades inferiores se midió mediante absociometría fotónica dual de rayos X (DEXA). El impulso positivo explicó por sí solo un 77% de la variabilidad en altura de vuelo. La variable anterior combinada con el porcentaje de masa corporal representado por la masa muscular de las extremidades inferiores permitió explicar un 82% de la variabilidad de la altura de vuelo en el CMJ. Al añadir a la ecuación anterior la masa muscular de las extremidades inferiores se pudo explicar un 98% de la variabilidad en altura de vuelo. En los saltos sin contramovimiento, también fue posible explicar un porcentaje similar de la variabilidad de la altura de vuelo utilizando las mismas variables.

Las hormonas vegetales son capaces de controlar el desarrollo reproductivo, desde la diferenciación floral hasta los últimos estadios del desarrollo de los frutos. En particular, la etapa de fructificación y desarrollo depende del contenido endógeno de estas sustancias, y es posible manipular la iniciación del desarrollo del fruto por aplicación externa de hormonas. Previamente se evaluó el proceso de fructificación y desarrollo en el cultivo de tomate en invernadero en respuesta a la aplicación de b-NOA y AG3 en dosis fijas: se observó sensibilidad diferencial dependiendo del genotipo y tipo de regulador. El objetivo de este trabajo fue establecer dosis y momento óptimo para la aplicación de b-NOA y AG3 como formas de mejorar la fructificación y el desarrollo de frutos partenocárpicos. Como factores se consideraron tipo de regulador -b-NOA y AG3- en dosis y momentos de aplicación variables. Empleando ovarios no polinizados como sistema experimental fue posible concluir que la aplicación de 40 ppm de b-NOA a 7 días post antesis ofrece las mayores ventajas desde el punto de vista del rendimiento y menor impacto fisiológico, sin alterar el período de desarrollo de los frutos.
