Combinación de sistemas de flujo de baja y alta presion para la determinacion de Mg, Ca y Sr en salmueras por espectrofotometria de absorcion atomica con llama

This article describes the combination of low- and high-pressure flow systems for the determination of Magnesium, Calcium and Strontium by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). In the low-pressure system a short C-18 RP column (length 0,5 cm) was utilized for the preconcentration/matrix separation step, xylenol orange was used as chelating agent and tetrabutylamonium acetate for ion pair formation. The hydraulic high pressure nebulization (HHPN) was used for sample transport and sample introduction in the high pressure system. The repeatabilities and detection limits for Mg, Ca and Sr were determined and compared with those obtained by pneumatic nebulization (PN). The results show that the detection limits obtained using the HHPN for Mg, Ca and Sr are between 1.5 to 2 times better than those obtained by PN when the signal transient was measured in area. The system presented a sampling frequency of 130 h-1 for direct determination of Mg, Ca or Sr in samples of saturated sodium chloride used in the production of chlorine and sodium hydroxide.

Composição química e atividades biológicas das folhas de Cynara scolymus L. (alcachofra) cultivada no Brasil

The present paper describes the chemical composition and biological activities of artichoke cultivated in Brazil. Our studies demonstrated that glycosyl flavonoids (cynaroside and scolymoside), are the major constituents, along with cynaropicrin, a sesquiterpene lactone, and the triterpene lupeol. Cynarin, which is the main compound described for artichoke, was detected in very low concentration. Hexanic fraction exhibited considerable cytotoxicity and diuretic activities.

Hoivapalveluyrittäjänä muuttuvassa toimintaympäristössä

Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on luoda ymmärrystä hoivapalveluyrittäjien toimintaympäristössä tapahtuvien muutosten vaikutuksista yritysten toimintaan, sekä yrittäjien tavasta reagoida muutoksiin. Tarkasteltaviksi toimintaympäristön muutostekijöiksi valittiin kunta- ja palvelurakenneuudistus, kilpailuttaminen, väestön ikääntyminen sekä toimialan yritysrakenteen muutos. Tutkimusmenetelmä oli kvalitatiivinen ja sen empiirinen aineisto muodostui kuuden pääkaupunkiseudulla toimivan hoivapalveluyrittäjän teemahaastattelusta. Kaikki yrittäjät olivat tiedostaneet toimintaympäristössä tapahtuvat muutokset ja reagointitavoista yleisimpänä oli toimintaympäristöön vaikuttamisen ja toiminnan sopeuttamisen keinot. Tutkimustulosten mukaan muutoksista eniten vaikutuksia oli ollut muutoksilla yhteistyössä julkisen sektorin kanssa lähinnä kilpailuttamisen, mutta myös julkisen sektorin rakenteellisten muutosten yhteydessä. Ikääntymisen vaikutukset liittyivät hoivatyön kasvaviin laatuvaatimuksiin ja entistä huonokuntoisempien asiakkaiden hoivaan. Toimialan yrityskoon kasvun ja ketjuuntumisen koettiin tuovan toimintaan tehokkuutta, mutta myös kiristyvää kilpailua hankintasopimuksista.

Cambios en las Relaciones y Satisfacciones Intergeneracionales Asociados al Uso de las TICs = Intergenerational Relations Changes and Satisfaction Associated to the ICTs Use

This article presents data from two samples of Catalan adolescents from 12 to 16 years and their parents in 2003 and 2008. The main aim is to explore the changing relationships between parents and their children and the impact that the use of ICT has on these changes. The results show that over the time there is a greater involvement of parents in communicating with their children about this issue, which involves no greater satisfaction of adolescents with such communication, possibly by the perception of lack of control that his/her father or mother has
