Projectes ecocentres 21: estudi teòric i de casos i proposta d’un programa per a l’ambientalització de centres educatius de la Comunitat Valenciana

Aquest projecte és un estudi teòric exhaustiu sobre l’educació ambiental i la seva inserció en el currículum escolar, així com de la gestió ambiental en l’àmbit educatiu i “ecoauditoria escolar”. Es busca d’ aquesta manera una base sòlida per a poder definir i concretar un programa per a l’ambientalització de centres educatius d’ educació infantil, primària i secundària de la Comunitat Valenciana, que ajudi i faciliti la incorporació d’una nova dimensió ambiental a les escoles

Genotyping of gastroenteric viruses in hospitalised children: first report of norovirus GII.21 in Brazil

This retrospective study (April-September 2003) was designed to investigate the roles of the main viruses responsible for cases of acute infantile gastroenteritis in hospitalised children up to two years of age. The viruses were identified in 64.7% (88/136) of the cases and the detection rates of rotavirus A (RVA), norovirus (NoV) and astrovirus were 41.9% (57/136), 30.3% (24/79) and 12.7% (7/55), respectively. RVA and NoV were detected in 20 of the 24 reported nosocomial infection cases. This study identified the first circulation of the genotype NoV GII.21 in Brazil and highlights the need to establish differential diagnoses through active laboratorial surveillance.

Decreasing perinatal morbidity and mortality is one of the main goals of obstetrics. Prognosis of preterm births depends on gestational age and birthweight. Multidisciplinary management is discussed with the parents according to these two parameters. In other circumstances, a suspected macrosomy will influence the management of the last weeks of pregnancy. Induction of labor or Cesarean delivery will be considered to avoid shoulder dystocia, brachial plexus injury or perinatal asphyxia. Birthweight needs to be estimated with accuracy, and this article describes the efficiency of various ultrasound weight estimation formulae for small and large fetuses.

A dramatic lung cancer course in a patient with a rare EGFR germline mutation exon 21 V843I: Is EGFR TKI resistance predictable?

We report on the medical history of a Caucasian smoker woman diagnosed with a stage IV NSCLC adenocarcinoma, characterized by a rare epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) point mutation in exon 21 codon 843 (p.V843I/c.2527G>A/COSMIC ID 85894). This genetic alteration revealed to be germline, after its presence was demonstrated in chondroblasts from the bone biopsy. While it is the first description of germline V843I mutation without concomitant additional known EGFR activating mutation, we modeled the EGFR ATP catalytic domain in complex with ATP, gefitinib and erlotinib using computer-aided approaches to estimate possible changes in affinity upon the V843I mutation.

Das Management von öffentlichen Organisationen hat sich in den letzen drei, vier Jahrzehnten beachtlich weiterentwickelt. Stichworte sind: verstärkte Ergebnisorientierung, grössere Autonomie bezüglich der Nützung der Ressourcen und der Prioritätensetzung, gesteigerte Ansprüche hinsichtlich der Rechenschaftslegung (Accountability), das gestiegene Interesse der Bürger und Medien an Entscheidungen und Tätigkeiten der öffentlichen Hand usw. Managementmethoden, die teils aus der Privatwirtschaft stammen, teils jedoch speziell für den öffentlichen Sektor entwickelt wurden, vervollständigen die Palette an Instrumenten, die den Public Managern heute zur Verfügung stehen. Dabei spielt die Kommunikation eine wichtige Rolle - sowohl innerhalb der Organisationen selbst wie Auch gegenüber der Gesamtheit ihrer Anspruchsgruppen und der Gesellschaft als Ganzes. Von den Verantwortlichen der öffentlichen Hand wird zunehmend erwartet, dass sie die Probleme und Herausforderungen der Politik offen darlegen, getroffene Entscheidungen erklären, die dazu benötigten Mittel rechtfertigen und die Bedürfnisse und Anforderungen der Leistungsempfänger berücksichtigen.
