The Catalan migration to New York. A view from La Llumanera de Nova York (1874-1881)

The first issue of La Llumanera de Nova York came out in November 1874 and was not published until 1881. The challenge was certainly complicated: editing a newspaper in Catalan in New York, with the aim of influencing a group of potential readers who were distributed in the United States and, at the same time, become a medium that would bring the ideas of a new era, both from a political and cultural point of view

On the genera Allomachilis Silvestri, 1906, and Kuschelochilis Wygodzinsky, 1951 (Insecta: Microcoryphia)

The objective of this study was to revise the nominal, and only described, species of the genera Allomachilis Silvestri, 1906, from Australia, and Kuschelochilis Wygodzinsky, 1951, from Chile (Microcoryphia: Meinertellidae). The studied specimens came from the collections deposited in the: American Museum of Natural History (USA); Instituto di Entomologia Agraria dell'Università di Portici (Italy); South Australian Museum (Australia); Carmen Bach collection of the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (Spain); and the entomology collection of the Instituto de Investigação Científica Tropical (Portugal). The revision of the nominal species of the genera Allomachilis and Kuschelochilis allows to consider the Neotropical genus a junior synonym of the Australian one.

3 février, 7 et 8 avril 1874 : À propos des droits de "Mignon" et de "Hamlet" pour des représentations en Angleterre, à Covent Garden, et en Italie : souhaite préserver ses intérêts et prie Heugel de faire valoir ses raisons auprès d'Ambroise Thomas (NLAS-214-1/3). - 9 juin 1874 : Enrage de ne pouvoir assister aux répétitions de "L'Esclave" d'Edmond Membrée et cherche à convaincre Heugel d'en éditer la partition, certain à l'avance de son succès : "Je voudrais bien aussi compter sur un éditeur. [...] Ne croyez-vous pas qu'il y a là une affaire sérieuse?" Le remercie également pour tout ce qu'il a fait pour "Mignon" et pour l'heureuse issue de ses démarches (NLAS-214-4). - 14 novembre 1874 : Lui envoie les paroles d'un air "Jérusalem! Jérusalem!" qui "s'adapte exactement aux paroles de l'édition Schlesinger" (NLAS-214-5). - 11 décembre 1874 : L'informe qu'il a saisi hier chez lui, en son absence, une partition de "Mignon" (NLAS-214-6).
