The charge stripping injection method has been adopted for the accumulation of light heavy ions in HIRFL-CSR. This method has some special requirements for the accelerating particles, and at the same time the structure of the injection orbit has to be changed. In this paper, the design of the orbit has been presented, as well as the calculation of the beam line matching. According to the result of commissioning, stripping injection can accumulate the beam to a higher current.

Within the Boltzmann-Langevin equation, the neutron cluster production cross sections in the reactions induced by Be-14, He-8, He-6, Li-11, B-17, Be-11, C-19 on C-12 at 35MeV/u were studied. The experimental data for (4)n production cross section from Be-14+C-12 at 35MeV/u can be reproduced. It is found that the production cross section of neutron cluster is large in the reaction that the projectile has more halo nucleons. And the projectiles with big mass number are easy to produce the neutron cluster, when they have the same number of halo nucleons. The neutron cluster is probably mainly from the halo nucleons of projectile.

The oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane to ethylene (ODHE) has been studied in a catalytic membrane reactor (CMR) using a dense mixed ionic oxygen and electronic conducting perovskite membrane Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3-&. At 1080K, an ethylene yield of 66% was obtained with the bare membrane. After Pd cluster deposition, the ethylene yield reached 76% at 1050K. Ni cluster deposition led to a decrease of ethane conversion compared to the bare membrane without changing ethylene selectivity.

To enhance the photoluminescence and electroluminescence efficiency, light-emitting polymers with energy transferring chromophores including N,N,N'N'-phenylene-diamine, naphthalene-imide, oxadiazole, meta-phenylene vinylene are designed and synthesized.

Organic electroluminescent devices with a structure of ITO/ploy (9-vinylcarbazole)/tris (8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum (Alq3)/Mg:Ag are fabricated at different substrate temperatures (77, 298, and 438 K) during Alq3 deposition. It is found that the surface morphologies of Alq3 thin films greatly affect the I-V characteristics of the devices by the contact area between metal cathode and light-emitting layer. There is an increase in the luminous efficiency of the devices in the order 77 K < 298 K < 438 K. We attribute this trend to different structures of Alq3 thin films. In order to study the oriented (epitaxial) crystallization of thermoplastic polymers on oriented polymer substrates, generally the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is used. With this instrument, the crystallized material can easily be resolved and orientation relationships can be monitored by electron diffraction. Disadvantages are the time consuming sample preparations and difficulties in the in-situ observations of the crystallization events, because of the radiation sensitivity of the polymer crystals. It is demonstrated that these disadvantages of the TEM can be eleminated by the use of different methods of light optical contrasts under specific preparation conditions of the samples and that the optical microscopy being a supplementary method to the TEM for investigations of epitaxial crystallization.

A Teflon bridge/edge-eliminator is designed to connect a glass container and a light-transparent gold-minigrid NaCl thin-layer cell to form a vertically configured in-situ FTIR spectroelectrochemical cell. The bridge/edge-eliminator sets an internal reference point for accurate potential control. The size of the thin-layer chamber is 5 X 5 X 0.11mm. A 1900-omega formal resistance of the thin-layer cell was measured in CH2Cl2/0.1 M TBAP solution. Well defined thin-layer cyclic voltammograms and IR spectral changes for ferrocene oxidation were obtained.

A sporeling culture method using gametophyte clones developed in the early 1990s led to egg discharge occurring in the dark 5 min after the start of the dark period under growth under a 11:13 L-D photoperiod. The course of egg discharge could be disturbed by light, with irradiance as low as 5-6 mu mol photon m(-2) s(-1) causing 75-80% of the discharged eggs to detach from the oogonia and consequently to die within several hours. In order to enhance outgrowth rate of young sporophytes, a study was conducted to test the effect of controlling darkness in the period 2-3 h after dusk. When the slides were transferred from the standard 11:13 L-D regime to continuous light, eggs were discharged 5 min after the end of the light phase and peaked 5-l5 min later on first day after transfer, indicating that the female gametes "remember" the light-dark regime. This suggests the existence of an endogenous circadian rhythm. During the second and third days, very few eggs were discharged throughout the 11 h of the normal light phase of the L-D regime, indicating the inhibitory effect of continuous light and that the rhtyhm is easily damped by light.
