This month, Jan Recker turns his attention to the technological side of BPM research and education. He engaged in a collaboration with two colleagues at Queensland University, Dr Marcello La Rosa and Eike Bernhard, on an initiative on the development of an advanced BPM technology - an Advanced Process Model Repository called Apromore. In this Column, they use the example of Apromore to showcase how BPM technologies are conceived, designed, developed and applied.

The notes for guidance on preparation of research, research dissertations and scientific papers are meant to assist researchers on how to achieve a successful presentation, writing a technical report or research paper. This comprises some simple rules that have helped many inexperienced writers to get started, and have also helped more experienced writers to get out of a hopeless tangle of observations and inferences. The complex known as Oplontis B lies in the shadow of Vesuvius, about 3 kilometers west of Pompeii and 300 meters from the well-known Villa A. Since its first excavation and reconstruction in the 1970s and 1980s, Oplontis B has languished in abandonment ―virtually unstudied. The Oplontis Project, led by John Clarke and Michael Thomas, began investigating the site in 2012 after completing its work on Villa A. The documentation of the complex is a primary task. In the past few years members of the Project team have cataloged the previously excavated materials, recording over 1200 wine amphorae as well as a variety of other artifacts. At the same time, Marcus Abbott has laser-scanned the building to produce a detailed plan of the site. The excavations have similar aims: to record the 79 CE level of the complex and to investigate its development. This paper discusses the preliminary results of the last two seasons of excavations and cataloging efforts which build on our previous work conducted in 2012 and 2013.

Emigration is now both a solution and a problem. To us, the ones wanting and seeking a better life, to emigrate is a solution but to the countries we choose to go, we are (or can be) little more than a problem: they even decide to shut borders or to limit the number of people allowed in and when this is not enough they set requirements: one must speak the language of the chosen country, possess awareness of the cultural background and current politics. It is true that other EU members economy is nowhere near as bad as ours but is equally true that they want it to stay like this

Cosmetic enhancement technologies have been subject to extended discussion in sociological literature. Botox, however, seems to have been mostly sidelined in this discussion in favour of more ‘extreme’ forms of cosmetic enhancement, such as those performed under general anaesthetic. In this paper, we suggest the need to further examine Botox as a sociological issue. We do this by highlighting some of the disparities and parallels that Botox shares with the existing literature on cosmetic enhancement technologies.
