O presente trabalho é uma análise experimental que procura investigar os efeitos dos fatores carga por eixo, pressão de inflação e tipo de pneu sobre o desempenho de pavimentos. Os dados e informações existentes sobre o quadro de cargas por eixo praticada pela frota de veículos pesados é razoável. A ação conjunta dos referidos fatores é ainda uma questão pouco explorada. Assim, para compensar a escassez de dados sobre pressão de inflação e tipo de construção de pneus utilizados na frota de carga, programou-se uma pesquisa de campo na rodovia estadual RS/240. As informações oriundas da pesquisa demonstram que há um acréscimo generalizado no valor da pressão dos pneus e um aumento de uso dos pneus de fabricação radial em relação aos pneus convencionais. Os dados de campo subsidiaram a programação de um experimento fatorial cruzado executado na Área de Pesquisas e Testes de Pavimentos da UFRGS/DAER. A variação dos níveis dos fatores deu-se através de um simulador linear de tráfego atuando sobre uma pista experimental com 20 m de comprimento por 3,5 m de largura. Tendo como resposta estrutural do pavimento a máxima deflexão superficial recuperável medida com uma viga Benkelmam, determinou-se como significantes os efeitos dos fatores carga por eixo e pressão de enchimento dos pneus. Os cálculos estatísticos indicam também que não há diferenças significativas entre os pneus tipo 9.00R20 e 9.00x20 e que todas interações não exercem efeitos significativos sobre a variável de resposta. Em seqüência, determinaram-se as áreas de contato do rodado duplo do simulador de tráfego com a superfície do pavimento ensaiado para as combinações dos níveis dos fatores. Pode-se, então, comparar área de contato medida com área circular calculada, considerada em muitos modelos de dimensionamento de pavimentos. Relacionou-se a variação da pressão de contato com a deflexão recuperável e procedeu-se uma comparação da mesma com a pressão de inflação nominal dos pneus. Apresenta-se um modelo de análise do desempenho do pavimento em função da carga por eixo e da pressão de inflação, nos limites do experimento. Os dados decorrentes do experimento viabilizaram a determinação dos Fatores de Equivalência de Cargas para os níveis dos fatores, considerando-se o pavimento ensaiado. Avaliou-se, via evolução das deflexões e dos Fatores de Equivalência de Cargas, a redução da vida do pavimento, obtendo-se, para a combinação de níveis mais críticos de carregamento, resultados significativos de até 88 % de redução. Propõe-se, por último, uma formulação para o Fator de Equivalência de Cargas que considere também a ação da pressão de inflação.

Este relatório consubstancia os resultados de uma pesquisa realizada junto à Volkswagen do Brasil, mais especificamente junto à sua fábrica de ônibus e caminhões localizada no município fluminense de Resende e que adota o modelo de consórcio modular, em que apenas fornecedores de grandes sub-montagens (módulos) realizam operações de montagens na linha. Objetiva identificar quais as características, justificativas, potencial e limitações do uso do modelo de consórcio modular no Brasil. Para isso, revisão bibliográfica foi feita e pesquisa de campo realizada. As conclusões jogam luz sobre um tema que tem sido abordado na literatura, mas nem sempre com precisão.

Muitas empresas manufatureiras buscam aumentar a participação dos serviços em seus negócios. Essa estratégia é conhecida como servitização e significa aumentar a oferta de pacotes combinados de produtos e serviços com foco nos clientes e seus negócios. Porém, a servitização constitui um grande desafio para essas empresas, pois seus modelos de negócio tradicionais tem foco no desenvolvimento, produção e venda de produtos. Esta pesquisa investiga como uma empresa manufatureira modifica seu modelo de negócio para aumentar sua servitização. A pesquisa também analisa quais são as motivações para que uma empresa busque isso e quais são os desafios que ela enfrenta nessa busca. Com esses objetivos, realizou-se um estudo de caso de uma montadora de veículos pesados com operações globais e presença consolidada no Brasil. Conduziu-se entrevistas com 8 executivos da empresa, responsáveis por Vendas, Serviços, Marketing e Produção no Brasil e América Latina. As entrevistas foram combinadas com análise de documentos da empresa entre os anos de 1996 e 2011. Utilizou-se o conceito de modelo de negócio como unidade básica de análise, já que este conceito explica como uma empresa cria, entrega e captura valor. Os resultados mostram que o modelo de negócio da empresa está em transição, de seu foco tradicional em produto, para maior centralidade do cliente e suas operações. A proposta de valor da empresa passou a enfatizar o desempenho de seus pacotes de produtos e serviços nas operações dos clientes, ao invés do foco tradicional na qualidade dos produtos. A empresa também criou novas organizações, processos e métricas com foco nos clientes e novos modelos de receitas, baseados em contratos de risco e na venda de desempenho e disponibilidade. Os resultados mostram que a empresa possui motivações estratégicas, financeiras e de marketing para buscar a servitização. Eles também mostram que o alinhamento das diversas áreas da empresa e de sua rede de parceiros, para maior foco nos clientes e em serviços, ao invés do seu foco tradicional no produto, ainda representa um importante desafio empresarial.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of the season of the year (summer vs winter), type of truck (A: single decker vs B : double-decker) and pig location on the truck (front, middle, rear) on the incidence of skin bruising and pork quality variation. For this purpose, 2660 gilts of an average weight of 126.7 (+/- 6.6) kg originating from 19 different farms were used. No interaction between season of the year, type of truck and location on truck was observed. A higher number of bruises on the body at unloading and slaughter (P < 0.0001) and a higher number of bruises on the carcass (P < 0.01) were observed in winter. At unloading a higher number of bruises on the body and on the carcass after slaughter was observed in pigs transported on Truck A (P=0.004 and P=0.05). A higher, although not significant, number of bruises was found on the body of pigs transported in the rear compartment of both trucks. Higher paleness value was found in the longissimus and semimembranosus muscles in summer (P=0.0001) than in winter. Cold and heat stress have a negative influence on skin bruises and meat quality, respectively. Poor vehicle design increases the incidence of bruised carcasses without detracting from pork quality regardless of the climate conditions tested and location of the animal it] the truck. In Natal still dominates the use of individual disposal systems for domestic sewage, once only 29% of the city has a sewarage system. Wastes that are accumulated in these individual treatment systems should be exhausted periodically, service provided by collector entrepreneurs. Some of these companies causing major damage to the environment. In Natal, only two companies have their own septage (RESTI) treatment system, which were designed with parameters from domestic sewage generating strain and inefficient systems. Therefore, the characterization becomes essential as a source of parameters for their design. Thus, this work presents the physical-chemical and microbiological characterization of waste pumped from individual sewage treatment systems. Samples collections were made weekly from 5 different trucks at the reception point on the treatment plant on the point of the preliminary treatment. From each truck it was taken 5 samples during the discharge in order to make a composite sample. Afterwards, samples were carried out to laboratory and analyses for determination of temperature, pH, conductivity, BOD, COD, nitrogen (ammonia e organic), alkalinity, oils, phosphorus, solids, faecal coliforms and helminth egg. The results were treated as a single database, and ranked according to its generating source (multi and single house, lodging, health, services and / or food), area of origin (metropolitan, south and north) and type of system (cesspits, septic tank and / or sink). Through these data it was possible to verify that the type of system adopted by most in Natal and the metropolitan region is cesspit, besides to confirm the difference between the septage of areas with a population have different social and economical characteristics. It was found that the septage have higher concentrations than domestic sewage, except for thermotolerant coliforms that showed concentrations of 1,38E+07. Among the parameters studied, is the median values identified for COD (3,549 mg / L), BOD (973mg / L) and total solids (3.557mg / L). The volatile fraction constitutes about 70% of the total solids of the septage. For helminths has been a median of 7 eggs/L. In general, the characteristics of the waste followed the variability found in the literature reviewed for all variables, showing high amplitudes

Only 32% of the population of Natal is attended by sewage, while the remaining population use pits and septic tanks. The characterization of the contents of septic tanks and pits contributes to the performance of such system and may guide the decision on treatment of these contents. The main of this research is to characterize the contents of interior residential pits and septic tanks in the greater Natal, with the following specific goals: to develop and manufacture a sampler capable of collecting a representative sample of the entire column (the surface scum, the clarified liquid and sludge bottom); to compare the contents of the tanks with the pits; to compare the contents of the septage from vacuum trucks; to relate the composition content with socioeconomic characteristics of households; to compare the content in both chambers of the septic tanks in series; to assess the situation of the content before and six months after the cleanness; and ultimately propose a pilot scale plant for treatment of septage. Once the sampler was developed, samples were collected within 14 septic tanks and 10 pits in many districts of Natal. Medians of the 24 systems were obtained: temperature, pH, conductivity, oil and grease, total solids, total suspended solids and sediments of 28.0 °C, 6.95; 882 mS/cm, 75.2 mg/L; 10,169 mg/L, 6,509 mg/L and 175 mL/L respectively; 111.0 mgN/L for ammonia, 130.5 mgN/ L for organic nitrogen, 0.2 mgN/L for nitrite, 0.4 mg/L for nitrate; 8935 mgO2/L for COD, 29.2 mgP/L for total phosphorus, thermotolerant coliforms from 9.95 E +06 CFU/100mL helminth eggs and 9.2 eggs/L with a maximum concentration of 688 eggs/L and minimum of 0 eggs/L. Medians of organic nitrogen and TKN were significantly different between groups of tanks and pits. The systems with cleanness gap from 11 and 20 years presented the higher concentrations for most variables. The effluent from the toilets and bathrooms participate more effectively in contributing fractions of solids, alkalinity, nitrogen, COD, total phosphorus, thermotolerant coliforms and helminth eggs. The systems used by socioeconomics class with income from R$ 3,700.00 to R$ 7,600.00, presented higher concentrations for COD, nitrogen, solids and helminth eggs. The first of the two chambers had always presented higher concentrations over the second compartment. The analysis of variance for most variables, showed that the values of septic tanks, pits and septage from vacuum trucks belong to the same group. In the samples taken after cleanness, the median of pH and temperature increased, while alkalinity, COD, organic nitrogen, total phosphorus, ammonia and helminth eggs decreased. The oils and greases and thermotolerant coliforms had slightly varied due to the continuous release of sewage into the systems that maintained their steady state concentrations.

Origin and importance. Acerola, or Malpighia emarginata D. C., is native to the Caribbean islands, Central America and the Amazonian region. More recently, it has been introduced in subtropical areas (Asia, India and South America). The vitamin C produced by acerola is better absorbed by the human organism than synthetic ascorbic acid. Exportation of acerola crops is a potential alternative source of income in agricultural businesses. In Brazil, the commercial farming of acerola is quite recent. Climatic conditions. Acerola is a rustic plant. It can resist temperatures close to 0 degrees C, but it is well adapted to temperatures around 26 degrees C with rainfall between (1200 and 1600) mm per year. Fruit characteristics. Acerola fruit is drupaceous, whose form can vary from round to conic. When ripe, it can be red, purple or yellow. The fruit weight varies between (3 and 16) g. Maturation. Acerola fruit presents fast metabolic activity and its maturation occurs rapidly. When commercialised in ambient conditions, it requires fast transportation or the use of refrigerated containers to retard its respiration and metabolism partially. Production and productivity. Flowering and fruiting are typically in cycles associated with rain. Usually, they take place in 25-day cycles, up to 8 times per year. The plant can be propagated by cuttings, grafting or seedlings. Harvest. Fruits produced for markets needs to be harvested at its optimal maturation stage. For distant markets, they need to be packed in boxes and piled up in low layers; transportation should be done in refrigerated trucks in relatively high humid conditions. Biochemical constituents. Acerola is the most important natural source of vitamin C [(1000 to 4500) mg.100(-1) g of pulp], but it is also rich in pectin and pectolytic enzymes, carotenoids, plant fibre, vitamin B, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, proteins and mineral salts. It has also shown active anti-fungal properties. Products and market. Acerola is used in the production of juice, soft drinks, gums and liqueurs. The USA and Europe are great potential markets. In Europe, acerola extracts are used to enrich pear or apple juices. In the USA, they are used in the pharmaceutical industry. Conclusions. The demand for acerola has increased significantly in recent years because of the relevance of vitamin C in human health, coupled with the use of ascorbic acid as an antioxidant in food and feed. Acerola fruit contains other significant components, which are likely to lead to a further increase in its production and trade all over the world.

The present work aims at to approach considerations of trucks suspension design. The proposal of the work consists of discussing the aspects related to the acting of the suspension and of factors that interact with the system through representative models of the dynamic behaviour of the vehicle ride when operating in total load and/or empty conditions. The importance of this work is to revise some procedures of suspension study in the sense of adapting them to the Brazilian reality, tends in view the importance of the design characterisation and adaptation to the typical roads of Brazil. In this paper, capacitated lot sizing problems in which the classical lot sizing decisions are made considering the transportation costs of the manufactured products were studied. These costs are related to the necessary number of pallets or trucks to pack and/or transport the products from the factory to the warehouse. Three extensions of a mixed integer linear programming model from the literature are considered, representing general cases that are commonly found in companies. These models are tested and evaluated using an optimization package, and a Lagrangian heuristic was developed for one of the extensions proposed.
