Es presenta un resum dels resultats dels assaigs d’avaluació de varietats de blat de moro de cicle 700 i 600, obtinguts en la zona litoral de Girona, en el marc de la Xarxa d’Experimentació de Varietats de l’IRTA. S’han assajat híbrids convencionals i transgènics derivats del MON810, que incorporen resistència als barrinadors. Amb els resultats de quatre anys d’assaig han destacat principalment les varietats HELEN, ELEONORA, TIETAR, PR32R42, ASTURIAL i PR33P66, sense diferències significatives entre elles. Les varietats transgèniques s’han assajat un màxim de tres anys havent mostrat algunes d’elles una alta productivitat. Entre aquestes han destacat PR32P76, DKC6575, PR33P67 i HELEN Bt, si bé sense diferències significatives amb el testimoni ELEONORA. També amb els resultats de tres anys d’assaig cal remarcar la varietat de blat de moro convencional PR32W86, que ha mostrat un nivell productiu similar a les millors transgèniques. Amb només dos anys d’assaig ha destacat principalment la varietat transgènica BELES SUR.

La informació a la ràdio durant el franquisme

El Treball Final de Carrera investiga l’evolució de la ràdio a Espanya durant la dictadura franquista, entre els anys 1939 i 1975. El seguit de qüestions polítiques i socials que es viuen al país durant la postguerra fan que el mitjà radiofònic es desenvolupi notablement durant la primera etapa del franquisme, però no només com una arma de propaganda o d’informació oficial del règim, sinó també com entreteniment per als oients. Serien les emissores privades les que impulsarien de manera més important l’aparició de nous espais dedicats a la societat popular i també, les que potenciarien la difusió de la cultura. Posteriorment, Radio Nacional de España, l’emissora pública, també acompanyaria a les privades en l’emissió de magazins i programes de varietats. En el treball acadèmic també es destaca l’evident diferència entre les restriccions a la ràdio al principi del mandat i al final. Els primers anys de la dictadura es caracteritzen per una forta censura pel que fa a la informació i a la difusió de programes. No obstant, l’obertura del règim als voltants dels 60 permetrà a les emissores ser més arriscades en la seva programació.

Euclidean geometric invariant of framed knots in manifolds

We present an invariant of a three dimensional manifold with a framed knot in it based on the Reidemeister torsion of an acyclic complex of Euclidean geometric origin. To show its nontriviality, we calculate the invariant for some framed (un)knots in lens spaces. An important feature of our work is that we are not using any nontrivial representation of the manifold fundamental group or knot group.

An extension of the Marsden-Ratiu reduction for Poisson manifolds

We propose a generalization of the reduction of Poisson manifolds by distributions introduced by Marsden and Ratiu. Our proposal overcomes some of the restrictions of the original procedure, and makes the reduced Poisson structure effectively dependent on the distribution. Different applications are discussed, as well as the algebraic interpretation of the procedure and its formulation in terms of Dirac structures.

Formal deformations of Poisson structures in low dimensions

In this paper, we study formal deformations of Poisson structures, especially for three families of Poisson varieties in dimensions two and three. For these families of Poisson structures, using an explicit basis of the second Poisson cohomology space, we solve the deformation equations at each step and obtain a large family of formal deformations for each Poisson structure which we consider. With the help of an explicit formula, we show that this family contains, modulo equivalence, all possible formal eformations. We show moreover that, when the Poisson structure is generic, all members of the family are non-equivalent.

The Complete Information First. Price Auction or the Importance of Being Indivisible

Abstract Despite the popularity of auction theoretical thinking, it appears that no one has presented an elementary equilibrium analysis of the first-price sealed-bid auction mechanism under complete information. This paper aims to remedy that omission. We show that the existence of pure strategy undominated Nash equilibria requires that the bidding space is not "too divisible" (that is, a continuum). In fact, when bids must form part of a finite grid there always exists a "high price equilibrium". However, there might also be "low price equilibria" and when the bidding space is very restrictive the revenue obtained in these "low price equilibria" might be very low. We discuss the properties of the equilibria and an application of auction theoretical thinking in which "low price equilibria" may be relevant.
