Partial outcomes of a study aimed to verify future High School teachers performance during the development of a Teaching Practice undergraduate course. The student teachers were asked to plan, elaborate and teach, in a classroom situation, optics topics to a class which included visual handicapped pupils. Data analysis shows that the main difficulties found by the student physics' teachers are related to which approach will be used to perceive phenomena dependent on vision and also to the need to break away from traditional pedagogy.. On the other hand, as alternatives, future teachers have shown creativity in order to overcome passive aptitudes related to this educational problem, working out methodological strategies that do not require the knowing/seeing relation, as well as, emphasizing oral communication within the physics teaching context. O propósito deste trabalho é identificar obstáculos epistemológicos no processo de construção de conceitos físicos relacionados ao calor, a partir da epistemologia de Gaston Bachelard. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida, tendo como público alvo, estudantes de terceira série no ensino médio de uma escola pública de Belém. Para a identificação de obstáculos epistemológicos, foi elaborado um questionário de respostas abertas, o qual foi aplicado, primeiramente em uma turma, objetivando a validação do instrumento de investigação. Esse teste orientou a reformulação do questionário para posterior aplicação em outras turmas. As respostas possibilitaram três diferentes estratégias de análise: na primeira focalizou a presença de obstáculos epistemológicos sem restringir alunos ou questões, a partir do qual foi identificada a presença de obstáculo substancialista, experiência primeira, conhecimento geral, verbal, realista e animista; a segunda foi orientada para detectar obstáculos epistemológicos revelados por cada estudante, em todo o conjunto de questões, onde foi verificada a presença de pelo menos um obstáculo epistemológico no conjunto de respostas de cada estudante; a terceira buscou relacionar cada questão (tópico) com os correspondentes obstáculos epistemológicos, onde foi verificado que os obstáculos da experiência primeira e substancialista estavam presentes em respostas de quase todos os tópicos abordados, e os obstáculos do conhecimento geral, verbal, realista e animista, estão presentes em menor freqüência. Na tentativa de contribuir com a melhoria do Ensino de Física, o trabalho apresenta algumas sugestões aos professores, buscando a superação desses obstáculos pelos estudantes.

This research deals with the discussion about Physics teachers’ undergraduate education and professional performance related to the knowledge acquired during this initial education. More specifically, we try to answer questions like: How do future teachers evaluate the knowledge acquired during their initial education as in terms of specific knowledge as pedagogical knowledge? What are their formative needs and future expectatives about professional performance and the school teaching environment? Data was constituted from a sample of 26 future high school physics teachers, one semester long, that were taking the supervised curricular training in a undergraduate Physics education program (called Licenciatura in Brazil), in São Paulo State public university. Besides the final report of this training, future teachers were asked to answer a questionnaire aiming to take their conceptions about their initial education program, their formative needs, future professional expectatives and high school teaching environment. According to the future teachers, the program they were about to finish was satisfactory in terms of Physics specific contents; however, about the pedagogical content knowledge and the pedagogical practice, they showed to be unsatisfied and insecure. The majority of the questionnaire responses demonstrated that they feel lack of teaching experience. Moreover, teachers emphasize other factors related to the future professional performance: possible difficulties to deal with students’ indiscipline, schools’ bad physical structure, limited number of Physics classes in high school level, lack of didactical laboratories and also they seem to be frightened that the expertise teachers do not be collaborative with the new ones. In this sense, the research outcomes shows the necessity of discussions about questions involving teachers knowledge, related to either, the Physics conceptual domain and the pedagogical one, since it matters directly to future teachers professional performance. Discussions in this sense can also help evaluation and restructuration of programs designed to initial and continuous teachers’ education.

Based on the assumption that the exchange of knowledge can support a process of self-organized interactions of the involved in the process, we present the results of a study about how happen the dialogue between physics teachers involved in a group of study of Modern and Contemporary Physics. With the support of the propositions of Bakhtin about the potential of the discourse and discursive interactions studies, we identified interesting regularities in how organize discussions among teachers, identifying a scheme that allows us to infer the effectiveness of the enforcement of this form of lead and mediate the discussions in groups of continuous formation of physics teachers to other topics, as well as adding arguments in defense of the groups of discussion as a strategy for continuing formation of teachers.

Several large dsDNA-containing viruses such as poxviruses (smallpox) and herpes viruses are well known among the scientific community, as well as the general populace, because they cause human diseases. The large dsDNA insect-infecting baculoviruses are also well known in the scientific community because they are used both as biological control agents and as protein expression systems. However, there are other large dsDNA-containing viruses, including the giant 1.2-Mb mimivirus, which are less well known even though all of them play important roles in everyday life. Seven of these virus families are reviewed in this book.

The intention of this paper is to present some Aristotelian arguments regarding the motion on local terrestrial region. Because it is a highly sophisticated and complex explanation dealt with, briefly, the principles and causes that based theoretic sciences in general and in particular physics. Subdivided into eight topics this article in order to facilitate the understanding of these concepts for the reader not familiar with the Aristotelian texts. With intent to avoid an innocent view, anachronistic and linear the citations are of primary sources or commentators of Aristotle's works.

O desenvolvimento científico nos permite trabalhar hoje com gases em temperaturas muito inferiores aos 10-6 K. Estes gases, uma vez obtidos por técnicas de resfriamento óptico, precisam ser caracterizados com relaçãao às suas propriedades termodinâmicas. a a medida da temperatura. Dentre tais propriedades está a medida da temperatura. Neste trabalho mostramos de forma tutorial como são medidas tais baixas temperaturas, através de técnicas de tempo de voo. Tais técnicas combinam conhecimento básico de mecânica, termodinâmica dentre outros tópicos convencionalmente estudados nos cursos básicos de física.
