Desde la perspectiva de la genética textual, en este trabajo observamos las representacionesdel personaje de Peter Pan en los textos de J. M. Barrie dedicados a este con respecto a sussemejanzas con el dios griego Pan, para ver de qué manera dialogan con los diferentes sentidosque el dios fue connotando a través de siglos. Analizamos la fotonovela The Boys Castawaysof Black Lake Island (1901); The Little White Bird (1902), novela en la que aparece en seiscapítulos; las "Fairy Notes" (1903) en borrador y el libreto inédito llamado Anon: a play de la obra teatral Peter Pan or The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up (estrenada en 1904); la novela Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens (1906), que consiste en esos seis capítulos de The LittleWhite Bird; la novela Peter and Wendy (1911), adaptación de la obra de teatro; un guion cinematográfico,Scenario for a Proposed Film of Peter Pan (c. 1918), que no se filmó; y ellibreto de la obra, finalmente publicado, con bastantes cambios, en 1928

This study examined the utility of the Attachment Style Questionnaire (ASQ) in an Italian sample of 487 consecutively admitted psychiatric participants and an independent sample of 605 nonclinical participants. Minimum average partial analysis of data from the psychiatric sample supported the hypothesized five-factor structure of the items; furthermore, multiple-group component analysis showed that this five-factor structure was not an artifact of differences in item distributions. The five-factor structure of the ASQ was largely replicated in the nonclinical sample. Furthermore, in both psychiatric and nonclinical samples, a two-factor higher order structure of the ASQ scales was observed. The higher order factors of Avoidance and Anxious Attachment showed meaningful relations with scales assessing parental bonding, but were not redundant with these scales. Multivariate normal mixture analysis supported the hypothesis that adult attachment patterns, as measured by the ASQ, are best considered as dimensional constructs.

The associations between personality disorders and adult attachment dimensions were assessed in a sample of 487 consecutively admitted psychiatric subjects. Canonical correlation analysis showed that two sets of moderately correlated canonical variates explained the correlations between personality disorders and adult attachment patterns. The first and second attachment variates closely resembled the avoidance and anxiety attachment dimensions, respectively. The first personality disorder variate was mainly characterized by avoidant, depressive, paranoid, and schizotypal personality disorders, whereas dependent, histrionic, and borderline personality disorders loaded on the second canonical variate. However, these linear combinations of personality disorders were different from those obtained from principal component analysis. The results extend previous studies linking personality disorders and attachment patterns and suggest the importance of focusing on specific constellations of symptoms associated with dimensions of insecurity.

Sulfite-oxidizing molybdoenzymes convert the highly reactive and therefore toxic sulfite to sulfate and have been identified in insects, animals, plants, and bacteria. Although the well studied enzymes from higher animals serve to detoxify sulfite that arises from the catabolism of sulfur-containing amino acids, the bacterial enzymes have a central role in converting sulfite formed during dissimilatory oxidation of reduced sulfur compounds. Here we describe the structure of the Starkeya novella sulfite dehydrogenase, a heterodimeric complex of the catalytic molybdopterin subunit and a c-type cytochrome subunit, that reveals the molecular mechanism of intramolecular electron transfer in sulfite-oxidizing enzymes. The close approach of the two redox centers in the protein complex (Mo-Fe distance 16.6 angstrom) allows for rapid electron transfer via tunnelling or aided by the protein environment. The high resolution structure of the complex has allowed the identification of potential through-bond pathways for electron transfer including a direct link via Arg-55A and/or an aromatic-mediated pathway. A potential site of electron transfer to an external acceptor cytochrome c was also identified on the SorB subunit on the opposite side to the interaction with the catalytic SorA subunit.

The multiheme SoxAX proteins are notable for their unusual heme ligation (His/Cys-persulfide in the SoxA subunit) and the complexity of their EPR spectra. The diheme SoxAX protein from Starkeya novella has been expressed using Rhodobacter capsulatus as a host expression system. rSoxAX was correctly formed in the periplasm of the host and contained heme c in similar amounts as the native SoxAX. ESI-MS showed that the full length rSoxA, in spite of never having undergone catalytic turnover, existed in several forms, with the two major forms having masses of 28 687 +/- 4 and 28 718 +/- 4 Da. The latter form exceeds the expected mass of rSoxA by 31 4 Da, a mass close to that of a sulfur atom and indicating that a fraction of the recombinant protein contains a cysteine persulfide modification. EPR spectra of rSoxAX contained all four heme-dependent EPR signals (LS1a, LS1b, LS2, LS3) found in the native SoxAX proteins isolated from bacteria grown under sulfur chemolithotrophic conditions. Exposure of the recombinant SoxAX to different sulfur compounds lead to changes in the SoxA mass profile as determined by ESI while maintaining a fully oxidized SoxAX visible spectrum. Thiosulfate, the proposed SoxAX substrate, did not cause any mass changes while after exposure to dimethylsulfoxide a + 112 +/- 4 Da form of SoxA became dominant in the mass spectrum. The sulfite dehydrogenase from Starkeya novella is the only known sulfite-oxidizing enzyme that forms a permanent heterodimeric complex between a molybdenum and a heme c-containing subunit and can be crystallized in an electron transfer competent conformation. Tyr236 is a highly conserved active site residue in sulfite oxidoreductases and has been shown to interact with a nearby arginine and a molybdenum-oxo ligand that is involved in catalysis. We have created a Tyr236 to Phe substitution in the SorAB sulfite dehydrogenase. The purified SDHY236F protein has been characterized in terms of activity, structure, intramolecular electron transfer, and EPR properties. The substituted protein exhibited reduced turnover rates and substrate affinity as well as an altered reactivity toward molecular oxygen as an electron acceptor. Following reduction by sulfite and unlike SDHWT, the substituted enzyme was reoxidized quickly in the presence of molecular oxygen, a process reminiscent of the reactions of the sulfite oxidases. SDHY236F also exhibited the pH-dependent CW-EPR signals that are typically observed in vertebrate sulfite oxidases, allowing a direct link of CW-EPR properties to changes caused by a single-amino acid substitution. No quantifiable electron transfer was seen in laser flash photolysis experiments with SDHY236F. The crystal structure of SDHY236F clearly shows that as a result of the substitution the hydrogen bonding network surrounding the active site is disturbed, resulting in an increased mobility of the nearby arginine. These disruptions underline the importance of Tyr236 for the integrity of the substrate binding site and the optimal alignment of Arg55, which appears to be necessary for efficient electron transfer.

Il lavoro consta di un’introduzione dedicata in primis alla presentazione formale di P. Oxy. XXIII 2382, di cui sono posti in evidenza i legami strutturali e concettuali con il racconto di Hdt. I 8-12. Segue dunque la trattazione dei problemi posti da P. Oxy. 2382, quello del genere letterario di appartenenza (tragedia o novella in versi?) e quello della datazione (età classica o età ellenistica?), finalizzata ad una puntuale definizione dello status quaestionis. Le conclusioni mettono in luce gli elementi a favore dell’ipotesi tragica: la presenza di paragraphoi e il passo di Ach. Tat. I 8 4-7 (corredato da un’appendice relativa alla storia del termine δρᾶμα: se e quando tale termine assume l’accezione di ‘narrazione romanzesca’?), nonché il soggetto storico (con un excursus relativo ai drammi di argomento storico). Si evidenziano infine gli elementi di debolezza contenuti nelle ipotesi avanzate da Cantarella (1952) e Lloyd-Jones (1953), propensi a ritenere P. Oxy. 2382 rispettivamente una novella in versi (il che offre lo spunto per una breve trattazione relativa alle caratteristiche contenutistiche e formali delle novelle milesie) e un giambo archilocheo, di cui il fr. 19 W.2 conserverebbe l’incipit. Quanto alla cronologia, sono enumerati i limiti della datazione alta, nonché gli elementi di affinità di P. Oxy. 2382 con la tragedia ellenistica; infine, pensando ad una possibile attribuzione, si propone, in termini puramente ipotetici, il confronto con l’esperienza della Pleiade alessandrina. Segue dunque un’analisi (laddove le condizioni dei testi, spesso frammentarie, lo consentano) dell’opera di Licofrone di Calcide, Sositeo e Sosifane di Siracusa, esponenti della Pleiade, nonché di Moschione ed Ezechiele, volta ad individuare elementi di continuità con P. Oxy. 2382. Il lavoro si conclude con l’edizione critica e il commento verso per verso di P. Oxy. XXIII 2382, corredati da un’appendice dedicata a P. Oxy. XLIV 3161, testo con notazioni musicali apparentemente affine a P. Oxy. XXIII 2382, costituito da 4 frr. notevolmente accidentati, di cui si fornisce l’edizione critica.

This thesis is to analyze the fictional texture of Buriti, novella by Guimarães Rosa, which makes part of Corpo do Baile. Gilles Deleuze‘s philosophical background as well as similar theorists such as Mircea Eliade, Derrida, Bataille, Foucault, Blanchot and Nie-tzsche constitute the main reference, as example of Guimarães Rosa‘s problematizing writing, since they present as basic element of thought the desterritorialization of con-cepts, standards and institutionalized knowledge by the dominant literary language. Along with the theoretical perspective of current alterity on these authors, Buriti is crossed by one aesthetics substantiated with a multiplicity of narrative points of view, opening gaps to other non-sacralized, nomadic voices, using polyphony as a way of breaking and destabilizing crystallized truths related to the canons of mother tongue. Interwoven by a poetic side of transgression, the narrative of Buriti finds especially marked by the signs of the backlands and of the night, which rhizomatically point to a sense of infinity, eternity, loneliness, vertigo before the abyssal, evoking the singularity of a ser-tão before the night, "the body of nocturnal rumor." The nights in the backlands in Buriti give rise to the emergence of a state of subjectivity, the ser-tão, whose nature is shown as a space of communion of the various beings that humans put on the same level of other living beings, setting up a sharing cosmic territory, enjoyment between pain and pleasure, between death and life. It is the night in the darkness, the shadows, the ser-tão is exposed, the being in his depth, facing himself with his internal rumors, which project themselves through the noise, the sound amplified by the vastness of the night at the desert backlands. "The backlands is the night." (ROSA, 1988, p.92).

El derecho a ser escuchado y participar en aquellos asuntos que afectan a los niños es un derecho fundamental de la infancia escasamente respetado por el adulto, quien tiende a silenciar su voz, infravalorando su visión y posible aportación. Ante esta realidad, la Escuela Infantil se erige como un marco privilegiado para la escucha y la participación de la infancia en aquellos temas que les afectan, contribuyendo a la formación de ciudadanos democráticos. A partir de un marco de escucha donde se concibe al pequeño como un sujeto activo, competente y experto en su propia vida, se ha llevado a cabo una investigación que ha adoptado el formato de estudio de caso, en la que se ha recogido a través de las técnicas del dibujo y de las conversaciones con niños, la visión que poseen los más pequeños sobre la Escuela Infantil, analizando el bienestar del niño en el contexto escolar, el sentido y finalidad que los niños otorgan a la escuela; el grado de satisfacción con la misma; sus gustos y preferencias en el contexto escolar; la autonomía y libertad que dicen poseer en la escuela; su visión sobre los aspectos organizativos que rigen el funcionamiento del centro y su perspectiva sobre cómo es y cómo les gustaría que fuera la participación de las familias en la escuela. Finalmente, se recogen sus propuestas de mejora para hacer de la Escuela Infantil a la que asisten su escuela ideal. Los resultados del estudio ponen de manifiesto la demanda de los niños de una Escuela Infantil diferente a la que conocen y la existencia de un pensamiento divergente del pensamiento adulto que es necesario escuchar y tener en consideración, siendo sus aportaciones de gran valía para poder iniciar procesos de innovación y mejora educativa.

La investigación, a partir tanto de fuentes primarias como de su obra literaria, ha supuesto el hallazgo de información sustancial sobre este íntimo amigo de Lope de Vega. Además de aportar nuevos testimonios biográficos, esta comunicación interrelaciona acontecimientos fundamentales de su vida con su obra literaria.

This essay examines the themes of paranoia and claustrophobia as elements of horror in John Campbell’s novella “Who Goes There?” (1938) and John Carpenter’s film-adaptation of said novella, called The Thing (1982). The novella and the film utilize the lack of trust and reliability in between the characters as elements of fear as well as supernatural elements in the form of a monster. This essay focuses on the different parts of the story running through both versions, mainly the setting, the characters and the monster, to show how the themes of paranoia and claustrophobia are used throughout these as elements of fear and horror. With the help of Sigmund Freud’s concept of the uncanny, as well as other sources, this essay argues that while the monster plays an important role throughout the story, the threats created by the paranoia and claustrophobia are equal to the monster itself.
