Synthesis, characterization, and electrical conduction of 10 mol% Dy2O3 doped CeO2 ceramics

Well-densified 10 mol% Dy2O3-doped CeO2 (20DDC) ceramics with average grain sizes of similar to 0.12-1.5 mu m were fabricated by pressureless sintering at 950-1550 degrees C using a reactive powder thermally decomposed from a carbonate precursor, which was synthesized via a carbonate coprecipitation method employing nitrates as the starting salts and ammonium carbonate as the precipitant. Electrical conductivity of the ceramics, measured by the dc three-point impedance method, shows a V-shape curve against the average grain size. The sample with the smallest grain size of 0.12 mu m exhibits a high conductivity of similar to 10(-1.74) S/cm at the measurement temperature of 700 degrees C, which is about the same conduction level of the micro-grained 10 mol% Sm2O3- or Gd2O3-doped CeO2, two leading electrolyte materials. Local structures around Y and Ce cations in 10 mol% Y2O3 doped ceria ceramics by EXAFS spectroscopy

Local structures around host Ce and dopant Y cations in 10 mol% Y2O3 doped ceria solid solutions have been investigated by room and high temperature EXAFS spectroscopy. The results show that the local structures around the Cc cation in doped ceria samples are similar to that in the fluorite CeO2 structure though the coordination numbers of Ce-O tend to be smaller than 8. The local structures around Y cation, however, are significantly different from those around Ce cation, and show more resemblance to that around Y cation in the C-type Y2O3 Structure. A more accurate description of the local structures around Y cation in doped ceria was given by analyzing Y-K edge EXAFS spectra based on the C-type Y2O3 structure. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. La poésie du quotidien comme réalisme magique en bande dessinée suivi de Nora et Mathieu

Cette étude porte sur les caractéristiques de la poésie du quotidien en bande dessinée. Les petites joies de la vie de tous les jours, leur représentation visuelle et leur transposition narrative, poétique ou non, traversent les différentes œuvres de mon corpus, soit Moins vingt-deux degrés Celsius de Jimmy Beaulieu (Mécanique générale, 2003), L’Homme qui marche de Jirô Taniguchi (Casterman, 2003), Whiskey & New York de Julia Wertz (Altercomics, 2011), Calvin et Hobbes en couleurs! de Bill Watterson (Hors Collection, 2008), Le Jardin de Mimi de Yoon-Sun Park (Misma, 2014) ainsi que Shä & Salomé, Jours de pluie d’Anne Montel et Loïc Clément (Jean-Claude Gawsewitch éditeur, 2011). Cette poésie du quotidien constitue un regard particulier sur le monde, à l’instar du réalisme magique. Cette étude explore le dialogue visuel et narratif qui existe entre les deux concepts, la poésie amenant une dimension magique importante au sein même de la fiction bédéique. En second lieu, il sera question de la bande dessinée Nora et Mathieu, laquelle a constituée la partie création de ce mémoire. Le processus artistiques ainsi que les caractéristiques qui définissent ma pratique de la bande dessinée, seront abordés.

La concentración de calcio iónico se asocia a la presencia de fibrilación auricular post operatoria en pacientes llevados a revascularización miocardica

Objetivo. Determinar en un grupo de pacientes llevados a revascularización miocárdica si existió asociación entre la presencia de niveles de calcio iónico inferiores a 1,1 en las 24 horas del post operatorio y la ocurrencia de fibrilación auricular post operatoria. Metodología. Estudio observacional, analítico de casos y controles, en donde de manera consecutiva se incluyeron 110 sujetos (57 en el grupo de casos con presencia de fibrilación auricular post operatoria y 54 en el grupo de controles sin evidencia de fibrilación auricular) estos sujetos fueron llevados a revascularización miocárdica en la Fundación Cardioinfantil en los años 2010 a 2015. Resultados. Hubo 13 casos de fibrilación auricular post operatoria en pacientes con niveles de calcio iónico inferiores a 1,1 mmol/l en las primeras 24 horas del post operatorio OR: 0,5, IC (0,2-1,2) p: 0,1. Sin determinarse asociación por limitaciones del estudio, sin embargo un 29% de los pacientes con fibrilación auricular tuvieron niveles de calcio inferiores a 1,1 mmol/l en las primeras 24 horas del post operatorio, este valor aumenta a 31% cuando se analizan por separado los valores de calcio obtenidos a las 12 horas. Conclusiones. Aunque no se logró determinar asociación entre la fibrilación auricular post operatoria y las concentraciones de calcio iónico, de manera exploratoria se pudo establecer que un 29% de los pacientes con fibrilación auricular tuvieron concentraciones de calcio iónico inferiores a 1,1 mmol/l, este valor aumenta a 31% cuando se analizan los niveles de calcio iónico por separado.

Pipkiiα Is Widely Expressed In Hematopoietic-derived Cells And May Play A Role In The Expression Of Alpha- And Gamma-globins In K562 Cells.

Characterized for the first time in erythrocytes, phosphatidylinositol phosphate kinases (PIP kinases) belong to a family of enzymes that generate various lipid messengers and participate in several cellular processes, including gene expression regulation. Recently, the PIPKIIα gene was found to be differentially expressed in reticulocytes from two siblings with hemoglobin H disease, suggesting a possible relationship between PIPKIIα and the production of globins. Here, we investigated PIPKIIα gene and protein expression and protein localization in hematopoietic-derived cells during their differentiation, and the effects of PIPKIIα silencing on K562 cells. PIPKIIα silencing resulted in an increase in α and γ globins and a decrease in the proliferation of K562 cells without affecting cell cycle progression and apoptosis. In conclusion, using a cell line model, we showed that PIPKIIα is widely expressed in hematopoietic-derived cells, is localized in their cytoplasm and nucleus, and is upregulated during erythroid differentiation. We also showed that PIPKIIα silencing can induce α and γ globin expression and decrease cell proliferation in K562 cells.
