A Violação da Condição em Kadiwéu

Although kadiwéu presents the same typological facts as the languages analyzed by Baker (1995), this work shows that Baker's polysynthesis parameter , according to which polysynthetic languages are pronominal argument languages, cannot be applied to this language. This paper offers, then, an alternative analysis to the pronominal argument theory for kadiwéu by arguing that nominal phrases are the verbal arguments in this polysynthetic language, like in any other better known language. On this view, one of the main properties of the polysynthetic languages, the so-called Condition C violation (e.g. <>i wants John i to love Mary, <> i broke John i's knife), follows from syntactic movement due to the nature of the Kadiwéu v-system. That is, this paper questions the existence of a polysynthesis parameter and develops Fukui & Speas (1996) insight that the syntax of a given language follows from the functional categories present in this language's lexicon.

Contribuição da tomografia computadorizada no diagnóstico e no estudo pós-operatório dos tumores selares

The computerized tomography (C.T.) of 18 pacients with sellar tumours were analysed. The C.T. made before surgery in 6 cases was positive in 3 and the type of tumour suggested by C.T. was confirmed in 3. Twelve pacients had a C.T. investigation after surgery and the examination suggest recurrent tumour in 5. Two of these were re-operated. One pacient with colesteatoma had the recurrent tumour verified by surgery and the other, with a pituitary adenoma during re-operation was noted only cicatricial tissue at sellar region.

Função vísuo-espacial em paralisia cerebral e proposta de novo teste com a ajuda de computador

The first idea of this study is trat there may be a disturbance of the visuo-spatial function in cerebral palsy. This idea is based upon the theories of Luria and Piaget. The second idea of this study is that the computer can help the investigation of visuo-spatial function. With the intention of evaluating the spatial function in cerebral palsy, the literature related to these themes was revised. We justify the proposal of a new test to study visuo-spatial function. This test uses straight lines in four different orientations and the subject has to recognize and arrange them individually or sets of them. This was done through the use of pencil and papel, and computer. The results confirm that there is a spatial disturbance and that a better understanding of the subject's difficulties was made possible through the use of the computer and the Logo computer language.
