La investigación que aquí se expone apunta a desarrollar un análisis diacrónico del teatro chileno en el marco de la teoría del discurso, en virtud de la enunciación y los contextos de enunciación en los que este se configura y se recepciona, como forma de complementar la propuesta de análisis del drama organizada en torno al concepto de dramatología. En este sentido, pretende establecer los vínculos entre la creación dramática chilena desde Antonio Acevedo Hernández y su obra Chañarcillo (1936) hasta Guillermo Calderón y el estudio de sus obras Neva (2006), Villa (2012) y Discurso (2012), pasando por las creaciones de Sergio Vodanovic (Dejen que los perros ladren de 1957), Luis Alberto Heiremans (El abanderado de 1962 y El tony chico de 1964), Egon Wolff (Flores de papel de 1970) y Benjamín Galemiri (Edipo Asesor de 2001). El propósito es perfilar una definición de discurso dramático como práctica social - en tanto articulación ideológica entre la teoría y la práctica teatral – a partir de la reflexión dramática moderna y postmoderna. Dicho de otra manera, de los modos en que el drama se articula como ideología dentro de un contexto espacial e histórico determinado. Al hablar de ideología, debemos entenderla como un tipo de práctica social específica ligada a significados y significantes estructurados racional y emocionalmente que configuran nuestras valoraciones de mundo. El estudio pone especial énfasis en los códigos teóricos que delinean el análisis de la dramaturgia, los cuales permiten constatar las consonancias y disonancias de dichos códigos con los de la dramaturgia chilena. Lo anterior con el fin de presentar una propuesta teórica que permita acceder al fenómeno dramático desde un paradigma que aporte al desarrollo de teorías propias del género. En este sentido, se debe señalar la importancia que tiene el estudio de la relación entre la creación dramática y las “poéticas” modernas y postmodernas como articulación ideológica del hecho teatral. Desde el punto de vista metodológico, la tesis se estructura en tres partes. La primera se centra en delimitar críticamente el concepto de discurso para definirlo como práctica social. La segunda, desarrolla una definición operativa de la noción de ideología que dialoga con la propuesta de análisis planteada en la dramatología. Finalmente, la tercera, analiza nueve obras, a la luz de la discusión teórica planteada anteriormente, con el fin de trazar una cartografía del teatro chileno como práctica social y entramado ideológico...

Introducción El libro de Guillermo Villegas Hoffmeister, “La guerra de Figueres”, tiene sin duda el subtítulo exacto Crónica de ocho años, porque eso es lo que es. Basado en alguna documentación escrita, en sus propios recuerdos personales y en una revisión de los periodos de la década de 1940, la obra se presenta ante todo como un producto de entrevistas realizadas por el autor a distintos personajes de la época. El resultado final es una narrativa descriptiva y parcializada, que combina alguna información interesante con datos sin importancia y algunas notables inexactitudes históricas: por ejemplo, el autor afirma que ¡el partido republicano nacional fue fundado por Maximiliano Fernández en 1909!, y en lo que parece ser producto de un lamentable descuido de él y de la EUNED, fecha la batalla de tejar el 13 de marzo en vez del 13 de abril de 1948…

The adoption of e-business by the Australian construction industry lags other service and product industries. It is assumed that slow adoption rate does not reflect the maturity of the technology but is due to adoption impediments peculiar to the nature of construction. This chapter examines impediments to the uptake of e-business nationally and internationally. A systematic and extensive literature search of impediments (also referred to as obstacles, impediments or hindrances) to adoption has been undertaken and the findings discussed in this chapter. This review included more that 200 documents and these have been published in a searchable database as part of a larger research initiative funded by the Cooperative Research Centre for Construction Innovation. The influence of levels of e-business maturity seen in other sectors such as retail, tourism and manufacturing was also captured and a number of major impediments were identified some including: privacy, trust, uncertainty of financial returns, lack of reliable measurement, fraud, lack of support and system maintenance. A total of 23 impediments were assessed in terms of impact to organisational type and size across reviewed documents. With this information it was possible to develop a reference framework for measuring maturity levels and readiness to uptake e-business in construction. Results have also shown that impediments to e-business adoption work differently according to organisational type and culture. Areas of training and people development need to be addressed. This would include a more sensitive approach to the nature of construction organisations, especially to those small and medium enterprises. Raising levels of awareness and creating trust for on-line collaboration are other aspects that need attention, which current studies confirm as lacking. An empirical study within construction, to validate these findings, forms the subsequent phase of this research.

Designing and estimating civil concrete structures is a complex process which to many practitioners is tied to manual or semi-manual processes of 2D design and cannot be further improved by automated, interacting design-estimating processes. This paper presents a feasibility study for the development an automated estimator for concrete bridge design. The study offers a value proposition: an efficient automated model-based estimator can add value to the whole bridge design-estimating process, i.e., reducing estimation errors, shortening the duration of success estimates, and increasing the benefit of doing cost estimation when compared with the current practice. This is then followed by a description of what is in an efficient automated model-based estimator and how it should be used. Finally the process of model-based estimating is compared with the current practice to highlight the values embedded in the automated processes.

The adoption of e-business by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in construction lags from other service and product businesses within the building sector. This paper develops a model to facilitate the uptake of electronic business, especially in relation to SMEs within the Australian construction sector. Ebusiness is defined here as “the undertaking of business-related transactions, communications and information exchanges utilising electronic medium and environment”, the elicited model highlights significant changes needed including skills development, social, economic and cultural issues. The model highlights barriers for SMEs to migrate towards e-transactions, e-bidding, e-tendering and ecollaboration and provides learning and skills development components. The model is derived from case study fieldwork and is to inform diffusion and awareness models for best practice. Empirical techniques included ‘focus group’ interviews and one to one ‘interviews’. Data was transcribed and analysed using cluster analyses. Preliminary results reveal that current models for e-business adoption are not effective within the construction context as they have emerged from other service and product industries - such as retail or tourism. These generic models have largely ignored the nature of the construction industry, and some modifications appears to be required. This paper proposes an alternative adoption model which is more sensitive to the nature of the industry – particularly for e-business uptake in building SME’s.

These National Guidelines and Case Studies for Digital Modelling are the outcomes from one of a number of Building Information Modelling (BIM)-related projects undertaken by the CRC for Construction Innovation. Since the CRC opened its doors in 2001, the industry has seen a rapid increase in interest in BIM, and widening adoption. These guidelines and case studies are thus very timely, as the industry moves to model-based working and starts to share models in a new context called integrated practice. Governments, both federal and state, and in New Zealand are starting to outline the role they might take, so that in contrast to the adoption of 2D CAD in the early 90s, we ensure that a national, industry-wide benefit results from this new paradigm of working. Section 1 of the guidelines give us an overview of BIM: how it affects our current mode of working, what we need to do to move to fully collaborative model-based facility development. The role of open standards such as IFC is described as a mechanism to support new processes, and make the extensive design and construction information available to asset operators and managers. Digital collaboration modes, types of models, levels of detail, object properties and model management complete this section. It will be relevant for owners, managers and project leaders as well as direct users of BIM. Section 2 provides recommendations and guides for key areas of model creation and development, and the move to simulation and performance measurement. These are the more practical parts of the guidelines developed for design professionals, BIM managers, technical staff and ‘in the field’ workers. The guidelines are supported by six case studies including a summary of lessons learnt about implementing BIM in Australian building projects. A key aspect of these publications is the identification of a number of important industry actions: the need for BIM-compatible product information and a national context for classifying product data; the need for an industry agreement and setting process-for-process definition; and finally, the need to ensure a national standard for sharing data between all of the participants in the facility-development process.
