Dentoalveolar traumatisms, particularly those that affect the anterior teeth, interfere adversely in the patient s life.Among them, tooth avulsion is pointed out because it is characterized as a complex injury that affects multiple tissues, andbecause there is no effective treatment available for its resolution with a stable long-term outcome.Aim/Hypothesis: The aim of the present study was to relate a clinical case of complete reconstruction of atrophy of the alveolarbone corresponding to tooth 11, lost by tooth resorption 10 years after the tooth reimplantation procedure.Material and methods: Reconstruction was performed with autogenous bone harvested from the mentum donor site. Surgicalaccess began in the receptor area with a Newman mucoperiosteal incision using a scalpel blade 15 mounted in a scalpel handlefor detachment and exposure of the receptor site. Extensive bone resorption was observed in the vestibular-palatine direction,proved by the thinness of the receptor bed. Decorticalization of the vestibular bone plate was performed. After preparing thereceptor bed, and incision was made in the mucosa in the depth of the anterior vestibular fornix, then a perpendicular muscleperiostealincision to detach and exposure the donor area. The bone graft necessary for reconstruction of the donor area wasdelimited, followed by monocortical osteotomy and the monocortical graft was removed. The next stage was to perform shapingfor passive graft accommodation and fixation by means of two bicortical screws. After fixation of the graft the sharp angles wererounded off in order to avoid possible exposure and/or fenestrations of the reconstructed area, then the receptor and donor areawere sutured. After the 6-month period to allow incorporation of the autogenous graft, an osseointegrated dental implant wasinserted. In contrast to formal semantics, the conjunction and is nonsymmetrical in pragmatics. The events in Marc went to bed and fell asleep seem to have occurred chronologically although no explicit time reference is given. As the temporal interpretation appears to be weaker in Mia ate chocolate and drank milk, it seems that the kind and nature of events presented in a context influences the interpretation of the conjunction. This work focuses on contextual influences on the interpretation of the German conjunction und (‘and’). A variety of theoretic approaches are concerned with whether and contributes to the establishment of discourse coherence via pragmatic processes or whether the conjunction has complex semantic meaning. These approaches are discussed with respect to how they explain the temporal and additive interpretation of the conjunction and the role of context in the interpre-tation process. It turned out that most theoretic approaches do not consider the importance of different kinds of context in the interpretation process.rnIn experimental pragmatics there are currently only very few studies that investigate the inter-pretation of the conjunction. As there are no studies that investigate contextual influences on the interpretation of und systematically or investigate preschoolers interpretation of the con-junction, research questions such as How do (preschool) children interpret ‘und’? and Does the kind of events conjoined influence children’s and adults’ interpretation? are yet to be answered. Therefore, this dissertation systematically investigates how different types of context influence children’s interpretation of und. Three auditory comprehension studies were conducted in German. Of special interest was whether and how the order of events introduced in a context contributes to the temporal read-ing of the conjunction und. Results indicate that the interpretation of und is – at least in Ger-man – context-dependent: The conjunction is interpreted temporally more often when events that typical occur in a certain order are connected (typical contexts) compared to events with-out typical event order (neutral contexts). This suggests that the type of events conjoined in-fluences the interpretation process. Moreover, older children and adults interpret the conjunc-tion temporally more often than the younger cohorts if the conjoined events typically occur in a certain order. In neutral contexts, additive interpretations increase with age. 5-year-olds reject reversed order statements more often in typical contexts compared to neutral contexts. However, they have more difficulties with reversed order statements in typical contexts where they perform at chance level. This suggests that not only the type of event but also other age-dependent factors such as knowledge about scripts influence children’s performance. The type of event conjoined influences children’s and adults’ interpretation of the conjunction. There-fore, the influence of different event types and script knowledge on the interpretation process does not only have to be considered in future experimental studies on language acquisition and pragmatics but also in experimental pragmatics in general. In linguistic theories, context has to be given a central role and a commonly agreed definition of context that considers the consequences arising from different event types has to be agreed upon.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of our study was to establish a standardized procedure for postmortem whole-body CT-based angiography with lipophilic and hydrophilic contrast media solutions and to compare the results of these two methods. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Minimally invasive postmortem CT angiography was performed on 10 human cadavers via access to the femoral blood vessels. Separate perfusion of the arterial and venous systems was established with a modified heart-lung machine using a mixture of an oily contrast medium and paraffin (five cases) and a mixture of a water-soluble contrast medium with polyethylene glycol (PEG) 200 in the other five cases. Imaging was executed with an MDCT scanner. RESULTS: The minimally invasive femoral approach to the vascular system provided a good depiction of lesions of the complete vascular system down to the level of the small supplying vessels. Because of the enhancement of well-vascularized tissues, angiography with the PEG-mixed contrast medium allowed the detection of tissue lesions and the depiction of vascular abnormalities such as pulmonary embolisms or ruptures of the vessel wall. CONCLUSION: The angiographic method with a water-soluble contrast medium and PEG as a contrast-agent dissolver showed a clearly superior quality due to the lack of extravasation through the gastrointestinal vascular bed and the enhancement of soft tissues (cerebral cortex, myocardium, and parenchymal abdominal organs). The diagnostic possibilities of these findings in cases of antemortem ischemia of these tissues are not yet fully understood.

The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) manages and operates numerous water control structures that are subject to scour. In an effort to reduce scour downstream of these gated structures, laboratory experiments were performed to investigate the effect of active air-injection downstream of the terminal structure of a gated spillway on the depth of the scour hole. A literature review involving similar research revealed significant variables such as the ratio of headwater-to-tailwater depths, the diffuser angle, sediment uniformity, and the ratio of air-to-water volumetric discharge values. The experimental design was based on the analysis of several of these non-dimensional parameters. Bed scouring at stilling basins downstream of gated spillways has been identified as posing a serious risk to the spillway’s structural stability. Although this type of scour has been studied in the past, it continues to represent a real threat to water control structures and requires additional attention. A hydraulic scour channel comprised of a head tank, flow straightening section, gated spillway, stilling basin, scour section, sediment trap, and tail-tank was used to further this analysis. Experiments were performed in a laboratory channel consisting of a 1:30 scale model of the SFWMD S65E spillway structure. To ascertain the feasibility of air injection for scour reduction a proof-of-concept study was performed. Experiments were conducted without air entrainment and with high, medium, and low air entrainment rates for high and low headwater conditions. For the cases with no air entrainment it was found that there was excessive scour downstream of the structure due to a downward roller formed upon exiting the downstream sill of the stilling basin. When air was introduced vertically just downstream of, and at the same level as, the stilling basin sill, it was found that air entrainment does reduce scour depth by up to 58% depending on the air flow rate, but shifts the deepest scour location to the sides of the channel bed instead of the center. Various hydraulic flow conditions were tested without air injection to verify which scenario caused more scour. That scenario, uncontrolled free, in which water does not contact the gate and the water elevation in the stilling basin is lower than the spillway crest, would be used for the remainder of experiments testing air injection. Various air flow rates, diffuser elevations, air hole diameters, air hole spacings, diffuser angles and widths were tested in over 120 experiments. Optimal parameters include air injection at a rate that results in a water-to-air ratio of 0.28, air holes 1.016mm in diameter the entire width of the stilling basin, and a vertically orientated injection pattern. Detailed flow measurements were collected for one case using air injection and one without. An identical flow scenario was used for each experiment, namely that of a high flow rate and upstream headwater depth and a low tailwater depth. Equilibrium bed scour and velocity measurements were taken using an Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter at nearly 3000 points. Velocity data was used to construct a vector plot in order to identify which flow components contribute to the scour hole. Additionally, turbulence parameters were calculated in an effort to help understand why air-injection reduced bed scour. Turbulence intensities, normalized mean flow, normalized kinetic energy, and anisotropy of turbulence plots were constructed. A clear trend emerged that showed air-injection reduces turbulence near the bed and therefore reduces scour potential.

Die Scanstrategie beim LS vom Kunststoff hat einen maßgeblichen Einfluss auf den Energieeintrag in das Pulverbett und somit auf die mechanischen und optischen Eigenschaften des Bauteils. Daher bieten manche Systeme die Möglichkeit verschiedener Scanstrategien oder Scanoptionen, die je nach Anwendung und gewünschten Eigenschaften ausgewählt werden können. In diesem Artikel werden die grundlegenden Aspekte der Scanstrategie beim Laser Sintern vom Kunststoff, sowie die Double-Belichtungsfunktion aufgegriffen, mit dem Ziel den genauen Einfluss der Scanstrategie bzw. Scanoptionen auf die mechanischen Eigenschaften von Thermoplasten zu ermitteln.

Das Additive Manufacturing gewinnt im Bereich der Medizintechnik zur Herstellung von Prototypen bis hin zu Endprodukten zunehmend an Bedeutung. Ein großes Hemmnis stellen allerdings die relativ hohen Fertigungskosten dar. Hier bietet der verstärkte Einsatz der 3D-Drucktechnologie (3D Printing) ein erhebliches Potential zur Reduktion der Kosten. Aus dieser Motivation heraus wurde ein 3D-Druckverfahren zur Herstellung biokompatibler, sterilisierbarer Kunststoffmodelle entwickelt. Beim 3D-Druck-Verfahren handelt es sich um einen pulverbasierten Prozess zur schichtweisen Herstellung von Modellen direkt aus Computerdaten. Dabei werden dünne Schichten eines Pulvers auf eine Grundplatte aufgebracht, die dann durch gezielte Binderzugabe entsprechend des aktuellen Bauteilquerschnitts verfestigt werden. Ausgangsmaterial für diesen Prozess ist ein Granulatgemisch auf Basis von PMMA (Polymethylmethacrylat). Als Binderflüssigkeit wird ein Lösungsmittel eingesetzt. Die 3D gedruckten Modelle werden nach einer entsprechenden Trocknungszeit im Pulverbett entpackt und warmgelagert, um das Abdampfen des Lösungsmittels zu beschleunigen. Der Nachweis der Biokompatibilität der hergestellten Modelle erfolgte durch einen Test nach DIN EN ISO 10993-5. In Kooperation mit Anwendern wurden verschiedene Anwendungsbeispiele wie Bohrschablonen, Otoplastiken, Gebissmodelle und Modelle für die präoperative Planung realisiert und charakterisiert.

The dataset contains measurements of river stage and discharge for one sites along the Akuliarusiarsuup Kuua River's northern tributary, with 30 minute temporal resolution between June 2008 and August 2013 This river is a tributary to the Watson River discharging into Kangerlussuaq Fjord by the town of Kangerlussuaq, Southwest Greenland. Additional data of water temperature, air pressure are also provided. Compared to version 1.0 of the dataset, this dataset used a total of 36 in situ discharge observations collected between 2008 and 2012 to construct the rating curve. Furthermore, data of Station AK-004-001 between 2010-09-06T11:30 to 2010-09-07T13:30 have been removed from version 2.0 because these values were likely caused by backflow when a jokulhlaup from a large glacier dammed lake caused increased water levels in the downstreams lake. Thus, data measured at AK-004-001 between 2010-09-06T11:30 to 2010-09-07T13:30 are not representative for the AK-004 catchment.

The vegetation pattern of siliceous boulder snow beds (Dicranoweision crispulae all. nov. prov.) of Svalbard was investigated by using transect studies in several places on Spitsbergen. Dicranoweisia crispula is the best diagnostic species. It is found throughout the whole snow bed, is a good differential species against Racomitrium lanuginosum communities above the snow bed, and does not occur on basic rocks. Three Andreaea spp. are also among the most important members of these communities. They are all acidophilous, but with different pH preferences. Eight weakly acidophilous species lacking both on basic and on gneissic/granitic rocks, are reported from Svalbard. Half of these are characteristic species of Dicranoweision crispulae on Svalbard.

The manganese nodules occur in greater or less quantity all over the ocean-bed, and most abundantly in the Pacific. They occur in all sizes, from minute grains to masses of a pound weight, and even greater, and form nodular concretions of concentric shells, round a nucleus, which is very frequently a piece of pumice or a shark's tooth. Their outside has a peculiar and very characteristic mammillated surface, which enables them to be identified at a glance. When freshly brought up they are very soft, being easily scraped to powder with a knife. They gradually get harder on exposure to the air. The powder, heated in a closed tube, gives out water which re-acts alkaline, and has an empyreumatic odour. Heated with strong hydrochloric acid, it liberates abundance of chlorine, and the residue which remains is white, consisting of silica, clay, and sand, the sand being the same as is found in the bottom mud from the same locality. Their composition varies greatly, different nodules containing different quantities of mechanically admixed mud, and the number of different elements found in them is very large. Copper, iron, cobalt, nickel, manganese, alumina, lime, magnesia, silica, and phosphoric acid have been detected in a large number; but I have not as yet been able to make a complete analysis of any of them. I have, however, made a few determinations of the most important component substances. For this purpose the outside and densest layers of the nodules were selected, and portions of them were pulverised and dried for ten or twelve hours at 140° C. The amount of chlorine liberated on treatment with hydrochloric acid was determined by Bunsen's method, and the iron was determined by titration with stannous chloride. The samples analysed were from four different localities.

Las Angustias torrent is an ungauged stream located in the Caldera de Taburiente National Park (Canary Islands), where frequent and intense flood events occur (even causing fatalities, such as in November 2001). The aim of this research is to analyse the flood hazard in one of the most visited areas of this protected area. To carry out this objective, during two dendrogeomorphological campaigns, all pine trees located on the stream bed and banks showing external evidence of flash flood damage were sampled. In addition, a detailed topographical survey using GPS and total station allowed us to obtain the inputs for hydraulic modelling. In the preliminary results, two flood events have been identified (1967-1968 and 1999- 2000), and evidence of other dates has been observed (1976, 1983, 1993 and 2001). Magnitude reconstruction of these events will improve flood hazard and risk analyses and will be useful for National Park managers.

Gasification is a technology that can replace traditional management alternatives used up to date to deal with this waste (landfilling, composting and incineration) and which fulfils the social, environmental and legislative requirements. The main products of sewage sludge gasification are permanent gases (useful to generate energy or to be used as raw material in chemical synthesis processes), liquids (tars) and char. One of the main problems to be solved in gasification is tar production. Tars are organic impurities which can condense at relatively high temperatures making impossible to use the produced gases for most applications. This work deals with the effect of some primary tar removal processes (performed inside the gasifier) on sewage sludge gasification products. For this purpose, analysis of the gas composition, tar production, cold gas efficiency and carbon conversion were carried out. The tests were performed with air in a laboratory scale plant consisting mainly of a bubbling bed gasifier. No catalyzed and catalyzed (10% wt of dolomite in the bed and in the feeding) tests were carried out at different temperatures (750ºC, 800ºC and 850ºC) in order to know the effect of these parameters in the gasification products. As far as tars were concerned, qualitative and quantitative tar composition was determined. In all tests the Equivalence Ratio (ER) was kept at 0.3. Temperature is one of the most influential variables in sewage sludge gasification. Higher temperatures favoured hydrogen and CO production while CO2 content decreased, which might be partially explained by the effect of the cracking, Boudouard and CO2 reforming reactions. At 850ºC, cold gas efficiency and carbon conversion reached 49% and 76%, respectively. The presence of dolomite as catalyst increased the production of H2 reaching contents of 15.5% by volume at 850 °C. Similar behaviour was found for CO whereas CO2 and CnHm (light hydrocarbons) production decreased. In the presence of dolomite, a tar reduction of up to 51% was reached in comparison with no catalyzed tests, as well as improvements on cold gas efficiency and carbon conversion. Several assays were developed in order to test catalyst performance under more rough gasification conditions. For this purpose, the throughput value (TR), defined as kg sludge “as received” fed to the gasifier per hour and per m2 of cross sectional area of the gasifier, was modified. Specifically, the TR values used were 110 (reference value), 215 and 322 kg/h·m2. When TR increased, the H2, CO and CH4 production decreased while the CO2 and the CnHm production increased. Tar production increased drastically with TR during no catalysed tests what is related to the lower residence time of the gas inside the reactor. Nevertheless, even at TR=322 kg/h·m2, tar production decreased by nearly 50% with in-bed use of dolomite in comparison with no catalyzed assays under the same operating conditions. Regarding relative tar composition, there was an increase in benzene and naphthalene content when temperature increased while the content of the rest of compounds decreased. The dolomite seemed to be effective all over the range of molecular weight studied showing tar removal efficiencies between 35-55% in most cases. High values of the TR caused a significant increase in tar production but a slight effect on tar composition.

The objectives of this work are to revisit the experimental measurements on dam break flow over a dry horizontal bed and to provide a detailed insight into the dynamics of the dam break wave impacting a vertical wall downstream the dam, with emphasis on the pressure loads. The measured data are statistically analyzed and critically discussed. As a result, an extensive set of data for validation of computational tools is provided.

En este trabajo se presenta el desarrollo de una metodología para obtener un universo de funciones de Green y el algoritmo correspondiente, para estimar la altura de tsunamis a lo largo de la costa occidental de México en función del momento sísmico y de la extensión del área de ruptura de sismos interplaca localizados entre la costa y la Trinchera Mesoamericana. Tomando como caso de estudio el sismo ocurrido el 9 de octubre de 1995 en la costa de Jalisco-Colima, se estudiaron los efectos del tsunami originados en la hidrodinámica del Puerto de Manzanillo, México, con una propuesta metodológica que contempló lo siguiente: El primer paso de la metodología contempló la aplicación del método inverso de tsunamis para acotar los parámetros de la fuente sísmica mediante la confección de un universo de funciones de Green para la costa occidental de México. Tanto el momento sísmico como la localización y extensión del área de ruptura de sismos se prescribe en segmentos de planos de falla de 30 X 30 km. A cada uno de estos segmentos del plano de falla corresponde un conjunto de funciones de Green ubicadas en la isobata de 100 m, para 172 localidades a lo largo de la costa, separadas en promedio 12 km entre una y otra. El segundo paso de la metodología contempló el estudio de la hidrodinámica (velocidades de las corrientes y niveles del mar en el interior del puerto y el estudio del runup en la playa) originada por el tsunami, la cual se estudió en un modelo hidráulico de fondo fijo y en un modelo numérico, representando un tsunami sintético en la profundidad de 34 m como condición inicial, el cual se propagó a la costa con una señal de onda solitaria. Como resultado de la hidrodinámica del puerto de Manzanillo, se realizó un análisis de riesgo para la definición de las condiciones operativas del puerto en términos de las velocidades en el interior del mismo, y partiendo de las condiciones iniciales del terremoto de 1995, se definieron las condiciones límites de operación de los barcos en el interior y exterior del puerto. In this work is presented the development of a methodology in order to obtain a universe of Green's functions and the corresponding algorithm in order to estimate the tsunami wave height along the west coast of Mexico, in terms of seismic moment and the extent of the area of the rupture, in the interplate earthquakes located between the coast and the Middle America Trench. Taking as a case of study the earthquake occurred on October 9, 1995 on the coast of Jalisco-Colima, were studied the hydrodynamics effects of the tsunami caused in the Port of Manzanillo, Mexico, with a methodology that contemplated the following The first step of the methodology contemplated the implementation of the tsunami inverse method to narrow the parameters of the seismic source through the creation of a universe of Green's functions for the west coast of Mexico. Both the seismic moment as the location and extent of earthquake rupture area prescribed in segments fault planes of 30 X 30 km. Each of these segments of the fault plane corresponds a set of Green's functions located in the 100 m isobath, to 172 locations along the coast, separated on average 12 km from each other. The second step of the methodology contemplated the study of the hydrodynamics (speed and directions of currents and sea levels within the port and the study of the runup on the beach Las Brisas) caused by the tsunami, which was studied in a hydraulic model of fix bed and in a numerical model, representing a synthetic tsunami in the depth of 34 m as an initial condition which spread to the coast with a solitary wave signal. As a result of the hydrodynamics of the port of Manzanillo, a risk analysis to define the operating conditions of the port in terms of the velocities in the inner and outside of the port was made, taken in account the initial conditions of the earthquake and tsunami ocurred in Manzanillo port in 1995, were defined the limits conditions of operation of the ships inside and outside the port.
