Estudio transversal sobre la prevalencia de la Enfermedad Metabólica Ósea (EMO) y Nutrición Parenteral Domiciliaria (NPD) en España: datos del Grupo NADYA

Patients with intestinal failure who receive HPN are at high risk of developing MBD. The origin of this bone alteration is multifactorial and depends greatly on the underlying disease for which the nutritional support is required. Data on the prevalence of this disease in our environment is lacking, so NADYA-SEMPE group has sponsored this transversal study with the aim of knowing the actual MBD prevalence. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Retrospective data from 51 patients from 13 hospitals were collected. The questionnaire included demographic data as well as the most clinically relevant for MBD data. Laboratory data (calciuria, PTH, 25 -OH -vitamin D) and the results from the first and last bone densitometry were also registered. RESULTS: Bone mineral density had only been assessed by densitometry in 21 patients at the moment HPN was started. Bone quality is already altered before HPN in a significant percentage of cases (52%). After a mean follow up of 6 years, this percentage increases up to 81%. Due to retrospective nature of the study and the low number of subjects included it has not been possible to determine the role that HPN plays in MBD etiology. Only 35% of patients have vitamin D levels above the recommended limits and the majority of them is not on specific supplementation. CONCLUSIONS: HPN is associated with very high risk of MBD, therefore, management protocols that can lead to early detection of the problem as well as guiding for follow up and treatment of these patients are needed.

Regional flows of domestic tourism in Spain = Flujos regionales del turismo doméstico en España

The paper analyses the regional flows of domestic tourism that took place in Spain in year 2000, contributing to the state of knowledge on tourism required by authorities and private firms when faced with decision making, for example, for regional infrastructure planning. Although tourism is one of the main income-generating economic activities in Spain, domestic tourism has received little attention in the literature compared to inbound tourism. The paper uses among others, gravitational model tools and concentration indices, to analyse regional concentration of both domestic demand and supply; tourism flows among regions, and the causes that may explain the observed flows and attractiveness between regions. Among the most remarkable results are the high regional concentration of demand and supply, and the role of population and regional income as explanatory variables. Also remarkable are the attractiveness of own region and neighbour ones, and that domestic tourism may be acting as a regional income redistributing activity

En esta breve aproximación al recorrido histórico durante el siglo XIX y la mayor parte del siglo XX, el autor nos muestra la incapacidad de la derecha española para asumir un régimen democrático y el contrato social y político que fundamentan el Estado de derecho alumbrado por las revoluciones burguesas que se suceden en la Europa moderna y contemporánea. Sin embargo, desde el restablecimiento de la democracia en 1977 hasta la actualidad, los partidos de derecha han conocido una evolución política, organizativa, electoral y programática que, de manera general, y, en algunos casos, desde su creación primigenia, les aproxima de forma más clara a sus homólogos del resto de las democracias occidentales.

El proyecto EMECAS: protocolo del estudio multicéntrico en España de los efectos a corto plazo de la contaminación atmosférica sobre la salud.

The EMECAM Project demonstrated the short-term effect of air pollution on the death rate in 14 cities in Spain throughout the 1990-1995 period. The Spanish Multicentre Study on Health Effects of Air Pollution (EMECAS) is broadening these objectives by incorporating more recent data, information on hospital disease admissions and totaling 16 Spanish cities. This is an ecological time series study in which the response variables are the daily deaths and the emergency hospitalizations due to circulatory system diseases and respiratory diseases among the residents in each city. Pollutants analyses: suspended particles, SO2, NO2, CO and O3. Control variables: meteorological, calendar, seasonality and influenza trend and incidence. Statistical analysis: estimate of the association in each city by means of the construction of generalized additive Poisson regression models and metanalysis for obtaining combined estimators. The EMECAS Project began with the creation of three working groups (Exposure, Epidemiology and Analysis Methodology) which defined the protocol. The average levels of pollutants were below those established under the current regulations for sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide and ozone. The NO2 and PM10 values were around those established under the regulations (40 mg/m3). This is the first study of the relationship between air pollution and disease rate among one group of Spanish cities. The pollution levels studied are moderate for some pollutants, although for others, especially NO2 and particles, these levels could entail a problem with regard to complying with the regulations in force.

Nutrición parenteral domiciliaria en España 2011 y 2012: informe del grupo de nutrición artificial domiciliaria y ambulatoria NADYA

OBJETIVE: To report the data of the Home Parenteral Nutrition (HPN) registry of the NADYA-SENPE working group for the years 2011 and 2012. METHODOLOGY: We compiled the data from the on-line registry introduced by reviewers of NADYA group responsible for monitoring of NPD introduced by since January 1, 2011 to december 31, 2012. Included fields were: age, sex, diagnosis and reason for HPN, access path, complications, beginning and end dates, complementary oral or enteral nutrition, activity level, autonomy degree, product and fungible material supply, withdrawal reason and intestinal transplant indication. RESULTS: Year 2010: 184 patients from 29 hospitals , representing a rate of 3.98 patients/million inhabitants/ year 2011, with 186 episodes were recorded NPD . During 2012, 203 patients from 29 hospitals , representing a rate of 4.39 patients/million inhabitants/year 2012 , a total of 211 episodes were recorded NPD . CONCLUSIONS: We observe an increase in registered patients with respect to previous years.Neoplasia remains as the main pathology since 2003. Although NADYA is consolidated registry and has been indispensable source of information relevant to the understanding of the progress of Home Artificial Nutrition in our country, there is ample room for improvement. Especially that refers to the registration of pediatric patients and the registration of complications.

La adaptación de los operadores de cable histórico en el entorno de la sociedad de la información en España : realidad y tendencias del cable histórico ante el triple play y la competencia de los grandes operadores

Los operadores de cable histórico se están adaptando a la convergencia entre el audiovisual y las telecomunicaciones a raíz de las modificaciones legislativas, que les permiten competir en los servicios de televisión, telefonía e Internet ante los grandes operadores.

Tendencias y fenómenos tecnológicos: Insights como técnica para aprender del pasado. Telecomunicaciones en España 1995-2006

El análisis retrospectivo de las causas y consecuencias de fenómenos tecnológicos y telecomunicativos y el hallazgo de los elementos o los parámetros que provocan que en situaciones y proyectos empresariales similares los resultados sean dispares es tarea científicamente compleja. A tal efecto, y ante la dificultad que entraña ese cometido, en esta investigación procedemos a aplicar la técnica de los insights como punto de partida para el desarrollo de productos tecnológicamente innovadores, que realmente pueden satisfacer las necesidades ocultas del consumidor. Como muestra, analizamos la aplicación de la técnica de los insights en un operador de telecomunicaciones y una apuesta tecnológica (Vodafone y la tecnología PLC) en la fase de desarrollo de las telecomunicaciones en España desde 1995 a 2006.

El peso de la televisión en el triple play de los operadores de cable en España y en Europa

El peso del servicio de televisión dentro de la oferta de triple play (Internet, telefonía, televisión) de los operadores de telecomunicación por cable en España está siendo uno de los ejes de análisis del mercado comunicológico, gracias a la tendencia del mercado digital hacia la convergencia y la irrupción de nuevos contenidos audiovisuales a través de Internet. El análisis de datos estadísticos aportados por los operadores de cable refleja, salvo en el caso de TeleCable, que el servicio televisivo en España está lejos de la realidad de otros países europeos, donde el contenido televisivo es líder sólido.

Aquesta publicació té per objectiu oferir un balanç dels primers vint anys des de l'adhesió d'Espanya a l'Europa comunitària en termes de «europeïtzació», una formulació que és objecte de creixent atenció per part dels estudiosos del procés d'integració europea. Per això s'analitzen tant la incidència d'Espanya a la Unió Europea com la d'aquesta en el sistema institucional, els processos polítics i les polítiques públiques espanyoles. El resultat reflecteix el grau creixent de simbiosi que, amb alguns matisos, s'ha anat generant entre ambdós nivells al llarg d'aquests anys.

El acogimiento en familia ajena en España: una evaluación de la práctica y sus resultados

El acogimiento familiar ha de ser la medida prioritaria para los casos de menores que deben ser separados de su família por motivos de protección. En España es una alternativa que cuenta tan sólo con veinte años de existencia y hasta la fecha no existen prácticamente datos acerca del grado de su implantación y sus características cuando se trata de acogimiento en familia ajena, mientras que son varios los trabajos que han estudiado el acogimiento en familia extensa. Este artículo presenta por primera vez en la literatura científica los datos más relevantes que permiten caracterizar la práctica del acogimiento en familia ajena en España, mediante el estudio de una muestra de seis comunidades autónomas bienrepresentativas, con un total de 357 casos. El artículo presenta los perfiles de los niños, las familias biológicas y acogedoras,el proceso y algunos resultados sobre una submuestra de casos cerrados (n = 179). Se analizarán algunas característicasespecialmente importantes como la larga estancia y la estabilidad de estos acogimientos, que los diferencia de los realizados en otros países
