A petition from the Company of Stationers to Parliament to introduce some form of legislative regulation of the press. The petition is significant in revealing the extent to which the Stationers depended upon the state to support the regulation of the book trade, as well as the nature of the various public and private interest arguments upon which they sought to base their claim. The commentary articulates the various arguments presented by the Stationers within their petition. The benefits of the legal regulation they suggested concerned not only the censorship and suppression of seditious and heretical texts, but also facilitated the advancement of learning and knowledge and the flourishing of the printing industry itself. In addition, the petition presents the figure of the ‘author' as reliant upon the benefit of his work, and that the ‘production of the Brain' was to be regarded as equivalent to any other commodity or chattel.

This vessel was built at Lorain, Ohio in 1907 by the American Ship Building Company. Until 1915, she was owned by the Detroit Steamship Company of Detroit, Michigan. From 1915 to 1950, she was owned by the Wilson Transit Company of Cleveland, Ohio. From 1950 to 1968, she was owned by the Gartland Steamship Company of Chicago and the U. S. From 1920 to 1969, she was known as the "Frank E. Taplin." In 1969, she was towed along with the "Howard M. Hanna, Jr." to Cartagena, Spain for scrapping.

This vessel was built at Wyandotte, Michigan by the Detroit Dry Dock Company in 1890. She was 2338 gross ton. Until 1916, when she foundered about 8 miles north of Eagle Harbor, Michigan in Lake Superior May 8, 1916 with a cargo of iron ore, she was owned by the North Western Transportation Company of Detroit, Michigan. Two of the twenty-two crew members were lost.

Since its genesis in 1925, La Boite has never been afraid of change. Despite controversies, crises and crippling set-backs that should have closed its stage doors many times, La Boite - which began life as the Brisbane Repertory Theatre Society - has proved itself an extraordinary survivor. When the opportunity came to build its own theatre, its inspired choice of theatre-in-the-round gave Brisbane an iconic performance space that attracted a whole new generation of actors, directors and designers and placed La Boite at the forefront of contemporary theatre practice. General Isaac Brock was a British Army officer and administrator who was promoted to Major General. He was responsible for defending Upper Canada against the United States. He died at the Battle of Queenston Heights during the War of 1812. Bartholome Houde and George E. Tuckett (Tuckett was mayor of Hamilton Ontario in 1896) manufactured and sold tobacco before Confederation. In 1841, the company was called B. Houde and Grothe. When Houde retired in 1822 his son in law, Francis Xavier Dussault took over the company. In 1903, the company was called B. Houde and Company Ltee. and it was run by Dussault’s two sons J.A. Dussault and J.E. Dussault. The B. Houde Company had become part of American Tobacco Ltd. which merged with Empire Tobacco Co. Ltd. to form the Imperial Tobacco Company in 1908 in the St. Henri district of Montreal. In 2008, the company celebrated their centennial. Cigarette silks were either enclosed in packets of cigarettes or were redeemable by mail. People would sew these silks together to create quilts or table covers. Some cigarette packages even included instructions for making these items.

Paleomagnetic data were measured from basaltic flows cored by the Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) at Site 883 on the summit of Detroit Seamount, located in the northernmost Emperor seamounts. These data are important because they reflect the paleolatitude of Hawaiian volcanism for the Late Cretaceous and bear upon geodynamic models of hotspot drift. A total of 143 samples were measured, from cores acquired at two ~20-30 m apart. Most samples gave apparently reliable magnetic directions that were analyzed in a tiered fashion to compute a composite inclination vs. depth curve. One hole gave 13 distinct inclination groups, the other 10, and the two were combined into nine groups thought to represent independent measurements of paleofield direction. These data indicate normal magnetic polarity and give a mean inclination of 61.5+10.6°/-6.4° and paleolatitude of 42.8+13.2°/-7.6° (95% confidence limits). This paleolatitude is 6.2° higher than results from another ODP site (884) drilled on the lower flank of the same seamount. The difference is thought to result partly from an age difference (1-3 Myr) and partly from incomplete averaging of paleosecular variation at both drill sites. Together, the data from the two sites reinforce the conclusion that the northern Emperor seamounts were formed far north of the present-day hotspot latitude (~19.5°N) and suggest prior estimates of the amount and rate of southward drift may have been low. This analysis also illustrates uncertainties in determining paleolatitude from a small number of lava flow units from a single drill site.
