A stock assessment of the Atlantic menhaden, Brevoortia tyrannus, fishery was conducted with purse-seine landings data from 1940 to 1984 and port sampling data from 1955 to 1984. These data were analyzed to determine growth rates, maximum sustainable yield (MSY), spawner-recruit relationships, and yield per recruit. Virtual population analysis was used to estimate stock size, year class size, and fishing mortality rates. Surplus production models produced estimates of MSY from 450 to 490 kmt compared with yields of 416to 436 kmt based roughly on maximum recruitment from a weak spawner-recruit relationship. Recruitment to age-I ranged from 1.2 to 14.8 billion fish for year classes 1955-81. Recent mean recruitment to age-I for the 1975-81 year classes averaged 5.7 billion fish and compared favorably with the mean of 7.7 billion age-I fish recruited during the late 1950's. Mean recruitment from recent years suggests possible coastwide yields of 416 to 481 kmt. Continued dominance of late age-2 spawners among the spawning stock is of concern, since the stock is at greater risk through poor recruitment if recent favorable environmental conditions change. Yield-per-recruit estimates ranged from 46 g to 59 g since 1970. The high dependency of the modern fishery on prespawners has increased concerns about fluctuations in year-to-year availability and catches. To increase yield and enhance the stability of the resource, the number of age classes contributing significantly to the fishery should be increased, creating a butTer against future poor recruitment years and lessening the year-to-year fluctuations in landings. ENGLISH: Tag release and return data for the Baja California and Gulf of Guayaquil areas were selected for this study because substantial numbers of returns resulted from these releases and because the effects of emigration are small in these areas. The returns of tags per unit of fishing effort for several experiments in each area were used to estimate the coefficients of total mortality and shedding. The coefficient of annual natural mortality was estimated to be less than 2.0, which is in agreement with a previous estimate of 0.8, but does not improve upon it. The estimates for the average coefficients of catchability are 2.02 X 10-3 for the Baja California area and 0.67 X 10-3 for the Gulf of Guayaquil area. SPANISH: Se seleccionaron para este estudio algunos da tos de liberación y retorno de marcas en las áreas de Baja California y el Golfo de Guayaquil debido a que cantidades substanciales de retornos resultaron de estas liberaciones y porque los efectos de migración son pequeños en estas áreas. Los retornos de marcas por unidad de esfuerzo de pesca de varios experimentos en cada área fueron empleados para estimar los coeficientes de mortalidad total y desprendimiento. Se estimó que el coeficiente de mortalidad natural anual fue inferior a 2.0, lo que está de acuerdo con una estimación anterior de 0.8, pero no la mejora. Las estimaciones de los coeficientes promedios de capturabilidad son 2.02 X 10-3 en el área de Baja California y 0.67 X 10-3 en el área del Golfo de Guayaquil. (PDF contains 58 pages.)

Zr-based bulk metallic glass matrix composites with the composition of Zr56.2Ti13.8Nb5.0Cu6.9Ni5.6Be12.(5) were synthesized by the copper-mould suction casting and the Bridgman solidification. The composite, containing a well-developed flowery beta-Zr dendritic phase, was obtained by the Bridgman solidification with the withdrawal velocity of 0.8 mm/s and the temperature gradient of 45 K/mm, and the ultimate strength of 2050 MPa and fracture plastic strain of 14.6% of the composite were achieved, which was mainly interpreted by the homogeneous dispersion of bcc beta-Zr phase in the glass matrix. 详细论述了时间分辨X射线衍射探测原子动态过程和生物大分子瞬态结构的各种方法。介绍了多种超快X射线脉冲光源及其在材料和生化领域中的研究进展状况。材料方面:在皮秒时间尺度探测到了晶格间距毫埃的微小变化;在亚皮秒的时间尺度直接观测到晶体的超快熔化过程和晶体内的相干声子散射;生物化学方面:采用时间分辨X射线劳厄衍射方法探测了蛋白质大分子结构的变化和功能之间的关系;精确描述了有机分子在光作用下形态发生改变时分子键角的扭转角度,从结构上揭示了其动态机理。

根据准相位匹配理论计算了周期极化LiTaO3(PPLT)晶体中0类准相位匹配过程(e+e→e)的增益曲线.在此基础上,使用数百心的低抽运能量获得了-10^6的增益和-10.3%的转换效率,实现了中心波长位于1064nm的基于简并光学啁啾脉冲参量放大(OPCPA)技术的高增益放大,为产生超短超强激光脉冲提供了新的技术手段.实验结果与理论预期基本符合.

By sensitizing with 514 nm green light, 488 nm blue light and 390 nm ultraviolet light, respectively, recording with 633 nm red light, effect of wavelength of sensitizing light on holographic storage properties in LiNbO3:Fe:Ni crystal is investigated in detail. It is shown that by shortening the wavelength of sensitizing light gradually, nonvolatile holographic recording properties of oxidized LiNbO3:Fe:Ni crystal is optimized gradually, 390 nm ultraviolet light is the best as the sensitizing light. Considering the absorption of sensitizing light, to obtain the best performance in two-center holographic recording we must choose a sensitizing wavelength that is long enough to prevent unwanted absorptions (band-to-band, etc.) and short enough to result in efficient sensitization from the deep traps. A Lei 10.436/02 reconhece a Língua Brasileira de Sinais (LIBRAS) como língua e o Decreto 5626/05 garante aos surdos o acesso à educação por meio da língua de sinais. Este último estabelece, ainda, que a LIBRAS seja inserida como disciplina curricular obrigatória em todos os cursos de formação de professores e licenciaturas, assim como que se ofereça o ensino de Português como segunda língua nos cursos de Letras, tendo como prazo limite para a instituição dessas exigências o ano de 2010. Essas mudanças coincidem com outra, recém-instituída, a da Reforma das Licenciaturas (Resoluções nos 1 e 2 CNE/CP 2002). Assim, a dissertação teve por objetivos: (1) verificar como foram instituídas as duas disciplinas, exigidas pelo Decreto em questão, nas novas grades curriculares das universidades públicas; e (2) identificar discursos sobre o surdo e a língua de sinais que circulam nesses espaços de formação docente. O trabalho visou a responder às seguintes perguntas de pesquisa: como se estabelece o diálogo entre as exigências do Decreto, a Reforma das Licenciaturas e as Universidades? Que concepções sobre a LIBRAS e o ensino de línguas circulam nessas Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) responsáveis pela formação de professores e de futuros pesquisadores? A análise teve como córpus ementas de disciplinas referentes ao ensino de LIBRAS e de Português como segunda língua para surdos das cinco universidades públicas do estado do Rio de Janeiro. A perspectiva teórica seguiu pressupostos da Análise do Discurso francesa de base enunciativa interdiscurso (MAINGUENEAU, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2008), intertextualidade e memória discursiva (ORLANDI, 2007) , assim como noções de enunciado, dialogismo e gênero do discurso (BAKHTIN 1992, 1993). A metodologia teve caráter exploratório. Verificamos, no que se refere à implementação dessas exigências legais, um entendimento diferenciado por parte de cada uma das universidades, que instituem distintos perfis profissionais. Contudo, os resultados da análise apontaram para o predomínio de uma concepção de ensino baseada numa visão estruturalista de língua e na decodificação de vocábulos

Microsatellites are codominantly inherited nuclear-DNA markers (Wright and Bentzen, 1994) that are now commonly used to assess both stock structure and the effective population size of exploited fishes (Turner et al., 2002; Chistiakov et al., 2006; Saillant and Gold, 2006). Multiplexing is the combination of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification products from multiple loci into a single lane of an electrophoretic gel (Olsen et al., 1996; Neff et al., 2000) and is accomplished either by coamplification of multiple loci in a single reaction (Chamberlain et al., 1988) or by combination of products from multiple single-locus PCR amplifications (Olsen et al., 1996). The advantage of multiplexing micro-satellites lies in the significant reduction in both personnel time (labor) and consumable supplies generally required for large genotyping projects (Neff et al., 2000; Renshaw et al., 2006).
