O estilo de João Ubaldo Ribeiro em Viva o Povo Brasileiros e An Invincible Memory

This paper aims at observing a particular case of an author���s and self-translator���s style in the pair of works Viva o Povo Brasileiro and An Invincible Memory. Our investigation has its theoretical starting point based on Corpus-Based Translation Studies (Baker, 1993, 1995, 1996, 2000; Camargo, 2005, 2007), and works on cultural domains (Nida, 1945; Aubert, 1981, 2006). The results showed that great part of cultural marks may be classified as the material, social, and ideological cultural domains, which reflects the context of the source text. It was also possible to observe that normalization features tends to reveal conscious or unconscious use of fluency strategies by the self-translator, making the translated text easier to read.

In this work we studied the urban movement of an important avenue of the city of Guaratingueta, in the Vale do Para��ba, State of Sao Paul, which is the Avenida João Pessoa, located in the Pedregulho neighborhood. Through literature review on this topic, we could contribute to the understanding of car culture in Brazilian cities.Through research on the history of this neighborhood, and said avenue, interviews with the passers-by and also via site visits, we analyzed the situation of urban traffic of Avenida João Pessoa. Entre a literatura e a música: o po��tico e o l��dico no contexto da can����o da MPB

The present article considers the configuration of poetic features of a song in the context of the so called Brazilian Popular Music. The inicial discussion draws general and theoretical considerations about the relations between literature and music and deepens the analysis on the nature of the song as a manifestation of a consciousness of the historical memory as a metaphysical and aesthetical transcendence. The ludic element is then considered as an important element of the poetic features of songs in the 60���s and nowadays.

Música popular e resist��ncia: emerg��ncia de um agente folkcomunicacional a partir de um caso de conflito ambiental

Tralcao, situated in the Rios region, named after the various rivers that flow nearby, in Chile, is bathed by the Pichoy River and it encounters the rivers Estero Colliaico and Cruces. A cellulose company was established there back in 2004, and since the it has been dumping waste in the Cruces river, causing grave environmental issues and bringing severe consequences to the region. In the middle of the crossfire, we find Mr. Francisco Manquecho, considered to be an opinion leader according to Luis Beltr��o, who assesses the real situation in the region throughout his song lyrics, acting as a propagator of the resistance against the environmental degradation occurring in Tralcao. Francisco acts as a ���folkcommunicacional��� agent by spreading a non-hegemonic bias through his songs. The objective of this article is to show how an opinion leader acts in a context of environmental degradation in Tralcao region using the basis of the Folkcommunication Theory and the communicational processes which involve music as a concrete action of popular resistance.
