The present paper includes a new species and a new record of majid crabs. The new species is referable to the genus Cyphocarcinus, subfamily Mithracinae of which only the genus Micippa was known from the region. Macropodia formosa Rathbun is being recorded for the first time from Karachi and belongs to the subfamily Inachinae. Both the species are described and illustrated. The new species is compared with its allied species.

During the stay of the vessel "Ob" (Soviet Antarctic Expedition) at Colombo, May, 1957, the author received from Dr. C. H. Fernando some specimens of different species of fishes from Ceylon, preserved in formalin, as a present for the Zoological Institute (Academy of Sciences of the U.S.S.R.) New species of Monogenoidea have been found when examining the gills of the fishes received and the present paper deals with their description. The material was preserved in strong formalin which highly condensed the tissues of the parasites. Therefore the details of the anatomical structure in most of the specimens could not be recognized even by means of phase-contrasting equipment. So the description is confined almost exclusively to the chitinoid armature of the haptor and copulatory organ. The terms and the measurements used in this paper are the same as those used previously (Gussev, 1955).

The present study is based on collections made from a large number of lakes, ponds and paddy fields during the period 1968-1972. A large number of new records and some new species have been identified in this material. The largest number of species have been recorded in the genus Lecane i.e. Lecane (Lecane), Lecane (Hemimonostyla) and Lecane (Monostyla) and the present paper is restricted to this genus. In all 25 species including two new species are recorded and described.

In two previous papers, the Eurotatorian fauna of Sri Lanka has been systematically dealt with. Description of 104 species is given in the previous papers. In the present study an additional twenty-two species are described. Of these two are new. The composition of the Sri Lanka Rotifera is discussed in relation to the fauna of other parts of the world. The distribution of the species in different types of habitats is studied on the basis of samples. A complete list of all Rotifera recorded from Sri Lanka so far is given for easy reference. Examples of localities where species were collected are also given.

Rhagophthalmus fugongensis Li & Liang and Rhagophthalmus lufengensis Li & Ohba are introduced as new to science. The first record of R. tonkineus in China is provided. The male genitalia of R. gibbosulus and R. giganteus are described and illustrated. The female and larva of R. giganteus and the female of R. semisulcatus are illustrated. The distribution of Rhagophthalmus is discussed and a rectification of the relative arrangement of different parts of the male genitalia is provided (the base-piece is on the ventral side of the male genitalia, and the parameres on the dorsal side).

The tetraclitid fauna at Elat, Israel, on the Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea, consists of three morphologically distinct species. Tetraclita rufotincta Pilsbry, 1916 was reported previously from this region and may have been confounded with T. achituvi n.sp. and T. barnesorum n.sp. Although these species occur sympatrically, according to previous studies, and recent observations, they apparently occupy different levels in the narrow intertidal zone (=50 cm) of this area. Cirral morphology suggests that each differs in the manner by which they capture and manipulate prey. Little is known about the occurrence of these new species elsewhere in the Red Sea and adjoining Arabian Sea.
