How do children experience participating in a choral performance? What matters most to them? How do they remember and talk about the event? The interview-based study demonstrates that children retain complex memories of such an event and can report on the experience in a differentiated manner, including their self-perception while singing, their social experience, and the various emotions associated with it. They evaluate the songs that were sung, and imbue the venue with meaning. Active participation in a choral performance enables children to share and reflect on music, providing them with a lasting, positively connoted memory of a musical experience. (DIPF/Orig.)

Die Erfahrung des Verlusts einer absoluten Gemeinschaft, die für die Pädagogik als modernes theoretisches Projekt grundlegend ist, ergibt sich als Erfahrung von Kontingenz und Widerstreben (Schleiermacher). Ich will nachweisen, daß sich eine Konzeptualisierung der Erziehung entwickelt hat, die zwar von dieser Kontingenz weiß und sich des Widerstands bewußt ist, jedoch zugleich diesen Phänomenen keine systematische Bedeutung beimißt. Ich argumentiere, daß die Neutralisierung dieser Erfahrungen stattfindet, weil die ,vollkommene Gemeinschaft', wie Schleiermacher darstellt, Richtpunkt der Erziehung bleibt, und diese .vollkommene Gemeinschaft' eigentlich in gewissem Sinne als immanent betrachtet wird. Das (verlorene) Absolute (im Sinne von ,ohne Beziehung') kehrt wieder in einer doppelten und symmetrischen Figur dieser Immanenz: das ,bildsame' Individuum und die ,sich selbst aufklärende Öffentlichkeit'. Ich schlage eine alternative Interpretation vor, in der der Verlust der Gemeinschaft begriffen wird als ein Verlust der Immanenz. Dieser Verlust ist genau in einem anderen Sinne konstitutiv für die Gemeinschaft. Die Gemeinschaft ist nicht .vollkommen', das Prinzip der Gemeinschaft ist Unvollendung und Unterbrechung. Kontingenz und Widerstand, als Ausdruck dieser Gemeinschaft, sind nicht nur als Probleme' für die Erziehung zu betrachten, sondern als konstitutiv für sie. Die Erziehung hat nicht die Aufgabe, die Kontingenz und den Widerstand zu neutralisieren, sondern die Gemeinschaft ,offen' zu halten. (DIPF/Orig.)

The idea of public experience is often invoked in different social and academic contexts. However, it seldom deserved a reflection that specifically sought to deepen its meaning from the point of view of social life. In this article we contribute to the understanding of the uniqueness of the public form of experience. We believe that one of the best ways through which we can observe the public experience is by the objectification, performance and dramatization of the culture, i.e., the “expression of lived experiences”. There is, in publicity, the possibility of simultaneous allocation of individual and collective experiences, and it is in this sense that we can see how culture influences the shaping of experience itself. Public experience is characterized by the weaving and intertwining of singular experiences that are pluralized and plural lived experiences that are singularized, in a process where individual and society interpenetrate. The relationship between experience and publicity arises from this symbolic communion contained in the systems of thought and action of societies. The decisive role of the principle of publicity to experience consists, according with the hypothesis we wish to put forward, in making available and communicating the social world of symbolic (cultural) activity. Public experience is, then, envisaged as the experience of a common world where both singular and plural definitions of the individual (taken as society) converge through lived experiences and, particularly, through their expression, which can take different symbolic forms.

É tendo em conta a dimensão de experimentação, de exposição ao mundo e ao outro, que a experiência se torna uma conceito que se insere num paradigma comunicacional. Se a experiência for tida como um encontro com o mundo, então ela é necessariamente perspectivada em conjugação com a comunicação uma vez que é a ela que devemos a possibilidade de partilhar, adoptar (e ultrapassar) as fronteiras ou os quadros de sentido que fundam a experiência.Nas sociedades contemporâneas, uma parte substancial do movimento comunicativo é realizado de forma mediatizada. Como entender, então, o efeito da mediatização da comunicação ao nível da experiência? Tendo como ponto de partida as meditações de Walter Benjaminem torno da Erfahrung e da Erlebnis, expostas fragmentariamente ao longo da sua obra, e da dicotomização entre uma experiência autêntica e uma experiência inautêntica, propomo-nos refletir sobre a comunicação e a sua mediatização. E procuramos pistas que nos elucidem em que medida a ubiquidade dos media afeta a riqueza da experiência comunicativa.
