El presente estudio se llevó a cabo de junio de 1992 a junio 1993 en áreas del Ingenio Javier Guerra, ubicado en el municipio de Nandaime, departamento de Granada, con el propósito de determinar la composición florística de las malezas que compiten en el cultivo de la caña de azúcar, el grado de cubrimiento y frecuencia de aparición de las mismas en general y por tipo de suelo. Para el estudio se seleccionaron siete lotes de producción representativos de las condiciones de suelo predominantes en las áreas cañeras. En cada lote de muestreo se seleccionaron de forma sistemática cinco puntos, los cuales estaban separados 200 metros el uno del otro. En cada una de las estaciones se anotaron por separado las malezas y el grado de cubrimiento, seleccionándose las especies con mayores distribuciones en base a la frecuencia y grado de cubrimiento promedio en total de sub-estaciones evaluados. El método utilizado fue el de observación visual, tomando como base los grados fijados en la escala de Braun-Blanquet (1964). Se realizó selección de especies de malezas que aparecieron en los tipos de suelo en estudio (TX a 3 III), (NNc IV), (AA a II), (VCa 4 IV), (TXa 2 II) y (Sta II). El análisis de los resultados se realizó de forma descriptiva, con el auxilio de Figuras y Tablas. Los resultados pueden ser resumidos de !a siguiente forma: se determinaron 79 especies de malezas, el 68.35 por ciento corresponden a dicotiledóneas y el 31.65 por ciento a monocotiledóneas. Se determinaron en total 24 familias de plantas, cuatro de las cuales pertenecen a la clase monocotiledóneas. Del total de monocotiledóneas, el 72 por ciento pertenecen a la familia poaceae Las especies de malezas pertenecientes a la clase dicotiledóneas presentaron un porcentaje superior en relación a las malezas monocotiledóneas. Del total de malezas dicotiledóneas el 14.8 por ciento corresponde a la familia asteraceae. La familia poaceae es la familia con mayor representación en número de especies presentes, ya que presenta 22.8 por ciento del total de especies determinadas. Las especies de malezas con clase de frecuencia 5 fueron ixophorus unicetus (Presl) Schlecht, Phyllanthus amarus Schum y Amaranthus Spinosus L. Las dos primeras especies aparecieron en el 100 por ciento de las muestras realizadas y la última en el 85 por ciento de las muestras. La especie Cyperus rotundus L. presenta frecuencia N, y grado de cubrimiento de 4, lo cual constituye un parámetro importante para considerar a asta especie como una de las más problemáticas en el área del cultivo. La mayor cantidad de especies se encontró en los suelo TX a 3 III, y NNc IV. El suelo Sta II, presentó el menor número de especies de malezas. Las especies de malezas dicotiledóneas y monocotiledóneas, predominantes en tos seis tipos de suelo fueron: A. spinosus, Lunicetus, P. amaras. En cambio, las malezas con distribución en cinco y cuatro tipos de suelos fueron: Baltimora recta , Cleome viscosa , Cyperus rotundas , Cucumisdipsacum , y Echinochloacolonum.

[EN] Pierre Urte wrote Grammaire cantabrique circa 1714, when he was exiled in England. In this article we want to prove that the main source for Urte’s work was the socalled “Lilys grammar”, which was the oficial grammar to learn Latin language in England from the 16th to the 19th century. The indentification of that source allows us to support the claim that Urte’s grammar must be included in the tradition of language teaching, as was already pointed out by Oyharçabal (1989). In this article, we first offer a brief history of Lilys grammar. Then, we provide some clues in order to identify the exact edition used by Urte. Finally, in the main section of the article, we confront the two grammatical works; our aim is to ensure Urte’s debt to Lilys grammar, and to show in detail the principal parts which Urte took from his source (mainly grammatical clasifications and examples).

To be in compliance with the Endangered Species Act and the Marine Mammal Protection Act, the United States Department of the Navy is required to assess the potential environmental impacts of conducting at-sea training operations on sea turtles and marine mammals. Limited recent and area-specific density data of sea turtles and dolphins exist for many of the Navy’s operations areas (OPAREAs), including the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point OPAREA, which encompasses portions of Core and Pamlico Sounds, North Carolina. Aerial surveys were conducted to document the seasonal distribution and estimated density of sea turtles and dolphins within Core Sound and portions of Pamlico Sound, and coastal waters extending one mile offshore. Sea Surface Temperature (SST) data for each survey were extracted from 1.4 km/pixel resolution Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer remote images. A total of 92 turtles and 1,625 dolphins were sighted during 41 aerial surveys, conducted from July 2004 to April 2006. In the spring (March – May; 7.9°C to 21.7°C mean SST), the majority of turtles sighted were along the coast, mainly from the northern Core Banks northward to Cape Hatteras. By the summer (June – Aug.; 25.2°C to 30.8°C mean SST), turtles were fairly evenly dispersed along the entire survey range of the coast and Pamlico Sound, with only a few sightings in Core Sound. In the autumn (Sept. – Nov.; 9.6°C to 29.6°C mean SST), the majority of turtles sighted were along the coast and in eastern Pamlico Sound; however, fewer turtles were observed along the coast than in the summer. No turtles were seen during the winter surveys (Dec. – Feb.; 7.6°C to 11.2°C mean SST). The estimated mean surface density of turtles was highest along the coast in the summer of 2005 (0.615 turtles/km², SE = 0.220). In Core and Pamlico Sounds the highest mean surface density occurred during the autumn of 2005 (0.016 turtles/km², SE = 0.009). The mean seasonal abundance estimates were always highest in the coastal region, except in the winter when turtles were not sighted in either region. For Pamlico Sound, surface densities were always greater in the eastern than western section. The range of mean temperatures at which turtles were sighted was 9.68°C to 30.82°C. The majority of turtles sighted were within water ≥ 11°C. Dolphins were observed within estuarine waters and along the coast year-round; however, there were some general seasonal movements. In particular, during the summer sightings decreased along the coast and dolphins were distributed throughout Core and Pamlico Sounds, while in the winter the majority of dolphins were located along the coast and in southeastern Pamlico Sound. Although relative numbers changed seasonally between these areas, the estimated mean surface density of dolphins was highest along the coast in the spring of 2006 (9.564 dolphins/km², SE = 5.571). In Core and Pamlico Sounds the highest mean surface density occurred during the autumn of 2004 (0.192 dolphins/km², SE = 0.066). The estimated mean surface density of dolphins was lowest along the coast in the summer of 2004 (0.461 dolphins/km², SE = 0.294). The estimated mean surface density of dolphins was lowest in Core and Pamlico Sounds in the summer of 2005 (0.024 dolphins/km², SE = 0.011). In Pamlico Sound, estimated surface densities were greater in the eastern section except in the autumn. Dolphins were sighted throughout the entire range of mean SST (7.60°C to 30.82°C), with a tendency towards fewer dolphins sighted as water temperatures increased. Based on the findings of this study, sea turtles are most likely to be encountered within the OPAREAs when SST is ≥ 11°C. Since sea turtle distributions are generally limited by water temperature, knowing the SST of a given area is a useful predictor of sea turtle presence. Since dolphins were observed within estuarine waters year-round and throughout the entire range of mean SST’s, they likely could be encountered in the OPAREAs any time of the year. Although our findings indicated the greatest number of dolphins to be present in the winter and the least in the summer, their movements also may be related to other factors such as the availability of prey. On September 7, 2000 the National Marine Fisheries Service announced that it was reinitiating consultation under Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act on pelagic fisheries for swordfish, sharks, tunas, and billfish. 1 Bycatch of a protected sea turtle species is considered a take under the Endangered Species Act (PL93-205). On June 30, 2000 NMFS completed a Biological Opinion on an amendment to the Highly Migratory Pelagic Fisheries Management Plan that concluded that the continued operation of the pelagic longline fishery was likely to jeopardize the continued existence of loggerhead and leatherback sea turtles.2 Since that Biological Opinion was issued NMFS concluded that further analyses of observer data and additional population modeling of loggerhead sea turtles was needed to determine more precisely the impact of the pelagic longline fishery on turtles. 3,4 Hence, the reinitiation of consultation. The documents that follow constitute the scientific review and synthesis of information pertaining to the narrowly defined reinitiation of consultation: the impact of the pelagic longline fishery on loggerhead and leatherback sea turtles The document is in 3 parts, plus 5 appendices. Part I is a stock assessment of loggerhead sea turtles of the Western North Atlantic. Part II is a stock assessment of leatherback sea turtles of the Western North Atlantic. Part III is an assessment of the impact of the pelagic longline fishery on loggerhead and leatherback sea turtles of the Western North Atlantic. These documents were prepared by the NMFS Southeast Fisheries Science Center staff and academic colleagues at Duke University and Dalhousie University. The 17th Annual Sea Turtle Symposium was held at the Delta Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida U.S.A. from March 4-8, 1997. The symposium was hosted by Florida Atlantic University, Mote Marine Laboratory, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, Florida Atlantic University and the Comité Nacional para la Conservación y Protección de las Totugas Marinas. The 17th was the largest symposium to date. A total of 720 participants registered, including sea turtle biologists, students, regulatory personnel, managers, and volunteers representing 38 countries. In addition to the United States, participants represented Australia, Austria, the Bahamas, Bonaire, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, England, Guatemala, Greece, Honduras, India, Italy, Japan, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mexico, The Netherlands, Nicaragua, Peru, Philippines, Republic of Seychelles, Scotland, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Uruguay, and Venezuela. In addition to the 79 oral, 2 video, and 120 poster presentations, 3 workshops were offered: Selina Heppell (Duke University Marine Laboratory) provided “Population Modeling,” Mike Walsh and Sam Dover (Sea World-Orlando) conducted “Marine Turtle Veterinary Medicine” and “Conservation on Nesting Beaches” was offered by Blair Witherington and David Arnold (Florida Department of Environmental Protection). On the first evening, P.C.H. Pritchard delivered a thoughtful retrospect on Archie Carr that showed many sides of a complex man who studied and wrote about sea turtles. It was a presentation that none of us will forget. The members considered a number of resolutions at the Thursday business meeting and passed six. Five of these resolutions are presented in the Commentaries and Reviews section of Chelonian Conservation and Biology 2(3):442-444 (1997). The symposium was fortunate to have many fine presentations competing for the Archie Carr Best Student Presentations awards. The best oral presentation award went to Amanda Southwood (University of British Columbia) for “Heart rates and dive behavior of the leatherback sea turtle during the internesting interval.” The two runners-up were Richard Reina (Australian National University) for “Regulation of salt gland activity in Chelonia mydas” and Singo Minamikawa (Kyoto University) for “The influence that artificial specific gravity change gives to diving behavior of loggerhead turtles”. The winner of this year’s best poster competition was Mark Roberts (University of South Florida) for his poster entitled “Global population structure of green sea Turtles (Chelonia mydas) using microsatellite analysis of male mediated gene flow.” The two runners-up were Larisa Avens (University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill) for “Equilibrium responses to rotational displacements by hatchling sea turtles: maintaining a migratory heading in a turbulent ocean” and Annette Broderick (University of Glasgow) for “Female size, not length, is a correlate of reproductive output.” The symposium was very fortunate to receive a matching monetary and subscription gift from Anders J. G. Rhodin of the Chelonian Research Foundation. These enabled us to more adequately reward the fine work of students. The winners of the best paper and best poster awards received $400 plus a subscription to Chelonian Conservation and Biology. Each runner up received $100. The symposium owes a great debt to countless volunteers who helped make the meeting a success. Those volunteers include: Jamie Serino, Alan Bolton, and Karen Bjorndal, along with the UF students provided audio visual help, John Keinath chaired the student awards committee, Mike Salmon chaired the Program Commiteee, Sheryan Epperly and Joanne Braun compiled the Proceedings, Edwin Drane served as treasurer and provided much logistical help, Jane Provancha coordinated volunteers, Thelma Richardson conducted registration, Vicki Wiese coordinated food and beverage services, Jamie Serino and Erik Marin coordinated entertainment, Kenneth Dodd oversaw student travel awards, Traci Guynup, Tina Brown, Jerris Foote, Dan Hamilton, Richie Moretti, and Vicki Wiese served on the time and place committee, Blair Witherington created the trivia quiz, Tom McFarland donated the symposium logo, Deborah Crouse chaired the resolutions committee, Pamela Plotkin chaired the nominations committee, Sally Krebs, Susan Schenk, and Larry Wood conducted the silent auction, and Beverly and Tom McFarland coordinated all 26 vendors. Many individuals from outside the United States were able to attend the 17th Annual Sea Turtle Symposium thanks to the tireless work of Karen Eckert, Marydele Donnelly, and Jack Frazier in soliciting travel assistance for a number of international participants. We are indebted to those donating money to the internationals’ housing fund (Flo Vetter Memorial Fund, Marinelife Center of Juno Beach, Roger Mellgren, and Jane Provancha). We raise much of our money for international travel from the auction; thanks go to auctioneer Bob Shoop, who kept our auction fastpaced and entertaining, and made sure the bidding was high. The Annual Sea Turtle Symposium is unequaled in its emphasis on international participation. Through international participation we all learn a great deal more about the biology of sea turtles and the conservation issues that sea turtles face in distant waters. Additionally, those attending the symposium come away with a tremendous wealth of knowledge, professional contacts, and new friendships. The Annual Sea Turtle Symposium is a meeting in which pretenses are dropped, good science is presented, and friendly, open communication is the rule. The camaraderie that typifies these meetings ultimately translates into understanding and cooperation. These aspects, combined, have gone and will go a long way toward helping to protect marine turtles and toward aiding their recovery on a global scale. (PDF contains 342 pages)

A sessão de ontem começou votando as emendas que faltavam, ampliando a anistia aos militares cassados. Mas mesmo antes da votação já se previa o que se confirmou depois: a rejeição das emendas. Em seguida com o apoio de todas as lideranças foi aprovada, com 406 votos, a anistia aos funcionários públicos civis que perderam o emprego por causa de greves, nas galerias os servidores comemoravam, mais de 10 mil pessoas se beneficiam com está medida, só não foram anistiados os servidores que trabalhavam em Ministérios Militares. Depois foram aprovados os textos relativos ao Poder Judiciário, como a instalação do Superior Tribunal de Justiça (STJ), também foi criada a Advocacia Geral da União (AGU). A tarde o Plenário decide se vai ter eleição em 1988 para Governador do Distrito Federal, logo depois os constituintes irão tentar votar as emendas que anistiam os micro e pequenos empresários urbanos e os pequenos e médios empresários rurais, mas ainda não há acordo com o Governo. O Centrão, que conta hoje com cerca de 330 constituintes de vários partidos, que é Maioria na Assembleia Nacional Constituinte, já tem definidos os pontos que quer mudar no projeto aprovado pela Comissão de Sistematização. O Centrão quer alterar a questão da estabilidade no emprego, a emprescritibilidade, a questão do ensino privado, o monopólio na distribuição de combustível, a defesa da livre iniciativa. As prerrogativas do Congresso Nacional também é defendida. Só a partir do dia 4 de janeiro começa a correr o prazo para apresentação de emendas ao projeto de Constituição. Ulysses Guimarães tenta novamente aprovar os pontos pendentes do Regimento Interno. O número de assinaturas para apresentação de destaque continua sendo o único ponto polêmico. Ainda não houve acordo nesse ponto. O Primeiro-Ministro de Israel visita a Constituinte e se reúne com os principais líderes dos partidos e com o presidente da Constituinte. Segundo o Primeiro-Ministro de Israel, seu país tem como sistema de governo uma fusão entre o Presidencialismo com Parlamentarismo, fato que ajudou o Governo a manter a paz.

Over much of Britain, 1995 and 1996 have been perceived as drought years. To evaluate the impact that local climatic conditions are having upon successional changes in higher vegetation (macrophytes), Speakmans Pond in Epping Forest was surveyed and mapped in 1996. The results are related to previous vegetation surveys carried out in 1989 and 1991. In 1989 the dominant marginal vegetation was floating sweet-grass Glyceria fluitans, which also covered a major part of the main body of the pond. Other abundant species included soft rush Juncus effusus, reed mace Typha latifolia and yellow flag Iris pseudocorus. A small (central) area of open water contained bladderwort Utricularia vulgaris and white water-lily Nymphaea alba. A similar plant coverage was found in 1991, with a dominance of floating sweet-grass along the shallow eastern edge. A marked change in the pond was found during the 1996 survey of vegetation in July, when the pool was dry. The major plant cover now consisted of creeping bent Agrostis stolonifera, with isolated clumps of Yorkshire fog Holcus lanatus around the edges; both are terrestrial grasses found on land surrounding the pond. Rushes (Juncus) had increased their distribution round the margins of the pond, and the patch of yellow flag noted in 1989 and 1991 was not found in 1996. The deeper trenches were also dry, but a small patch of white water-lily remained adjacent to one of the trenches.

This report covers the period April to September, 1989. During this period sampling of invertebrates has concentrated on planktonic animals and those associated with one of the dominant macrophytes in the system, Nuphar lutea, the yellow water lily, since these are particularly important in the diets of larval and juvenile cyprinid fish. A proportion of samples has been partly analysed and some preliminary data are presented here.

As práticas pedagógicas e processo de ensino e aprendizagem do aluno com deficiência intelectual no ensino comum são o objeto de estudo desta tese. Esta teve por finalidade analisar as estratégias pedagógicas e os suportes educacionais oferecidos para alunos com deficiência intelectual, refletir e elaborar, de forma colaborativa com a equipe pedagógica, ações educativas para a organização do processo de ensino e aprendizagem desse aluno. Para responder à questão inicial do estudo, participamos sistematicamente como pesquisadora do cotidiano escolar do aluno em sala de aula e em outros contextos da rotina das professoras, como reuniões de planejamento, estudos de caso e conselhos de classe. As interfaces metodológicas qualitativas adotadas foram o estudo de caso etnográfico para a 1 etapa e a pesquisa-ação colaborativa para a 2 etapa. Na 1 etapa, fomos a campo para conhecer os processos estabelecidos para a escolarização de três alunos com deficiência intelectual, em anos de escolaridade diferentes, e envolveu 15 profissionais do 1 segmento do ensino fundamental. A partir da análise de conteúdo dos registros do diário de campo, da observação participante, das entrevistas semiestruturadas e filmagens em sala de aula, organizamos as reflexões e análises sobre como é compreendida a deficiência intelectual, as relações que se estabelecem com a aprendizagem e as práticas pedagógicas que envolveram os três alunos. Na segunda etapa, fomos a campo para colaborar com seus atores a partir da proposta do ensino colaborativo, respaldadas pelo referencial histórico-cultural. As ações colaborativas junto às professoras de sala de aula e da sala de recursos multifuncionais (SRM) foram desenvolvidas tendo o aluno Ian como sujeito das reflexões e análises sobre o processo de ensino e aprendizagem. Como resultados do estudo observamos que a presença do aluno com deficiência intelectual na escola comum ainda é motivo de estranhamento. O formato da estrutura curricular indica o quanto é difícil garantir processos de ensino e aprendizagem para o aluno com deficiência intelectual. Apesar do perfil diferenciado na formação das professoras, dúvidas sobre como organizar o ensino para esse aluno eram comuns em seus relatos. A partir da colaboração estabelecida, na 2 etapa do estudo, entre as professoras especialistas (da SRM e pesquisadora) e as professoras de sala de aula, observamos essas ampliarem a iniciativa na organização/adequação de atividades, em suas áreas de conhecimento específicas, considerando a participação e forma pela qual o aluno poderia adquirir o conhecimento trabalhado. Nesse contexto, percebemos a relevância da complementaridade entre estratégias pedagógicas para garantir o ensino, a participação e a aprendizagem do aluno, tanto em sala de aula quanto na SRM. As práticas favoreceram o aluno na medida em que as condições de ensino, para sua aprendizagem, passaram a ser conhecidas e consideradas. A mediação planejada, intencional e desafiadora, em todos os ambientes da escola, foi fundamental para que compreendêssemos como organizar o ensino para a aprendizagem de Ian. Sob essas condições observamos Ian demonstrar sua capacidade para elaborar conceitos cotidianos e complexos, em diferentes áreas do currículo escolar.

Foi estudada a influência da temperatura na desativação de catalisadores automotivos comerciais, à base de Pt/Rh e de Pd/Rh, de diferentes fabricantes. Foram empregadas técnicas de caracterização textural e físico-química como FRX, AAS, fisissorção de N2, TG-ATD, DRX, RTP, quimissorção de H2 e MEV-EDX. Os catalisadores foram avaliados nas reações de oxidação do CO e oxidação do propano, utilizando uma mistura de gases estequiométrica semelhante ao gás de exaustão. Os catalisadores denominados G e V, de Pt/Rh e Pd/Rh, respectivamente, foram envelhecidos a 900C, em condições estequiométricas, e a 1200C, em ar, por períodos de tempo determinados. Em relação ao envelhecimento a 900C, apesar da caracterização apontar melhores resultados para o catalisador G, a comparação com os catalisadores novos indicou que a extensão da desativação sofrida pelo catalisador V foi menor do que aquela sofrida pelo catalisador G. O envelhecimento oxidante a 1200C foi muito prejudicial ao desempenho de ambos os catalisadores. Os difratogramas dos catalisadores envelhecidos nestas condições mostraram fenômenos importantes de transição de fase da alumina, bem como indícios de formação de novas fases a partir do óxido misto de Ce/Zr. Os perfis de RTP mostraram uma grande queda na redutibilidade, tanto para o catalisador G como para o V após este envelhecimento, e as micrografias de MEV-EDX mostraram estruturas muito sinterizadas e vários pontos de Pd aglomerado no catalisador V. Esse catalisador também apresentou partículas de texturas incomuns. Além disso, para ambos foi verificado indícios de perda de material nas amostras calcinadas por 72h a 1200C. Com relação aos resultados de avaliação catalítica, o catalisador G apresentou um desempenho inferior ao do catalisador V. A realização de envelhecimentos em atmosfera oxidante pode justificar esse comportamento uma vez que esse procedimento promove a formação de óxidos de platina, menos ativos que a platina metálica para essas reações. Além disso, este catalisador apresentou um teor de Pt bem abaixo daqueles registrados na literatura para catalisadores automotivos comerciais. Por outro lado, para catalisadores de Pd, o envelhecimento oxidante leva à formação de PdO, mais ativo que o Pd metálico. Outra observação significativa em relação à avaliação catalítica foi o fato de o catalisador G novo ter apresentado uma atividade muito baixa, especialmente para o propano, que tendeu a aumentar com o envelhecimento térmico. Foi sugerido que este catalisador precisaria de uma ativação térmica, a qual o catalisador V parece ter sido submetido durante a fabricação, pois há indícios da ocorrência de certo desgaste térmico neste catalisador novo, como mostrados pelos resultados de fisissorção de N2, DRX, TG-ATD, RTP e MEV-EDX. Foi também mostrado que os resultados de quimisorção de H2, apesar de não poderem ser usados na determinação da dispersão metálica, apresentaram uma tendência de correlação entre o consumo de H2 e o desempenho catalítico expresso como T50 ou T20. Observa-se um aumento na atividade catalítica quando a quantidade de H2 dessorvido (DTP-H2) aumenta. Concluindo, o envelhecimento térmico mostrou ser prejudicial ao desempenho do catalisador comercial, principalmente para situações drásticas como o envelhecimento realizado a 1200C em condições oxidantes
