Alrededor del mundo se han identificado al menos dos maneras de habitar sobre el agua, las cuales difieren entre si principalmente por el sistema constructivo y tipo de movilidad: i) viviendas sobre pilotes y, ii) viviendas flotantes. Las viviendas flotantes, son también llamadas casas botes o vivienda anfibia, dependiendo del contexto territorial de estudio.En la actualidad la vivienda flotante, tiene plena vigencia tanto en países considerados desarrollados, como en vías de desarrollo. Presenta una variedad de tipologías, sistemas constructivos, materiales, donde la creatividad, manifestaciones culturales, avances tecnológicos y condiciones ambientales han condicionado las formas arquitectónicas resultantes. En Ecuador las viviendas flotantes emplazadas sobre el río Babahoyo han sido construidas de manera irregular (en términos legales), con un sistema artesanal predominante, donde se observan problemáticas sociales y de salubridad entre sus ocupantes.A pesar de ser un caso único en el país, y de interés arquitectónico, paisajístico y cultural, estas edificaciones se han visto afectadas por inadecuadas intervenciones de reparación y/o mantenimiento por parte de sus ocupantes. En este sentido, sepresenta una propuesta de intervención para las viviendas flotantes de Babahoyo, que supera los problemas actuales identificados en relación a la práctica constructiva e integra estrategias para mejorar las condiciones de confort interior. El documento contempla una primera aproximación al origen y evolución de la vivienda flotante en el contexto internacional y local, para luego presentar un análisis de la vivienda flotante en Babahoyo, identificando los factores de deterioro de los componentes constructivos y evaluando el confort interior bajo cuatro parámetros de análisis: radiación, iluminación, temperatura y CO2. Finalmente, se definenestrategias de intervención que mejoran la práctica constructiva y aproximan a las temperaturas óptimas para garantizar el confort interior dentro de estas edificaciones.

Abstract This communication reflects the work done in the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture at the University of Beira Interior (Portugal), and still ongoing, in the framework of the project ORFEUS - The Tridentine Reform and music in the cloistral silence: the Monastery of S. Bento de Cástris (Project FCT EXPL/EPH-PAT/2253/2013) and aims to bring the debate to a contribution to the study of the specificity of the monastery of St. Bento de Cástris in the context of Cistercian architecture, in which the shape and the music are intertwined. In this way, two dissertations have been developed in Architecture (integrated master course of architecture of the University of Beira Interior) within the project ORFEUS, which are divided by the importance and contributions of the Cistercian Architecture in contemporary religious architecture, the morphology of the Cistercian churches and the relationship between architecture and music in the specific case study of the church of the monastery of St. Bento de Cástris. Resumo Esta comunicação reflecte o trabalho desenvolvido no Departamento de Engenharia Civil e Arquitectura da Universidade da Beira Interior, e ainda em curso, no âmbito do Projecto ORFEUS - A Reforma tridentina e a música no silêncio claustral: o mosteiro de S. Bento de Cástris (Projecto FCT EXPL/EPH- PAT/2253/2013) e pretende-se com esta comunicação trazer a debate um contributo para o estudo da especificidade do Mosteiro de S. Bento de Cástris, no contexto da arquitectura cisterciense, no qual a forma e a música se entrelaçam. Neste sentido foram desenvolvidas duas dissertações de mestrado integrado em Arquitectura, no âmbito do Projecto ORFEUS, que se repartem pela importância e contributos da Arquitectura Cisterciense na Arquitectura religiosa contemporânea, a morfologia das igrejas cistercienses e a relação entre a arquitectura e música patente no estudo de caso da igreja do Mosteiro de S. Bento de Cástris.

En Andalucía, así como en el resto de España, durante el último tercio del siglo XVIII y los primeros 40 años del siglo XIX se difunde el neoclasicismo académico promovido por una nueva burguesía que lo asume como estilo propio. Se trataría de la primera encarnación artística de la Ilustración y utilizaría como materiales predominantes el ladrillo, la piedra o la madera. Así se construirán los primeros mercados de abastos de este siglo hasta que poco a poco, entre los años 40-60, se fuera introduciendo el hierro como material predominante -aunque lejos del desarrollo industrial europeo debido entre otras cosas, a la fuerte dependencia que tenía España con el extranjero para abastecerse de este material-. Con esta comunicación se pretende dar a conocer parte de una profunda investigación sobre la evolución de los sistemas constructivos de los mercados de abastos en Andalucía durante el siglo XIX. Se ha realizado un importante trabajo de campo y se han estudiado las fuentes orales y escritas -si bien es cierto que muy escasas en la provincia de Jaén, lugar donde se realizó este trabajo originalmente, lo que implicó que esta investigación fuera inédita-.

Resumo A partir da segunda metade do século XIX e XX assistiu-se à introdução de novos materiais, como o ferro fundido, o aço e o vidro, na remodelação ou construção de edifícios que procuravam dar resposta às novas necessidades de gestão urbana e de criação de espaços de lazer e sociabilidade. Nestas intervenções, que ficaram marcadas pela arquitectura do ferro, os engenheiros, grupo profissional detentor de competências técnicas que os habilitavam a trabalhar com estes materiais, tiveram um papel determinante. Na cidade de Évora a ligação entre a utilização de novos materiais e os engenheiros, é visível no papel que o Engenheiro Adriano Monteiro teve na reconversão do Palácio D. Manuel e na remodelação do edifício dos Paços do Concelho. Palavras-chave: Engenheiro, Arquitectura do Ferro, Évora, Palácio D. Manuel, Paços do Concelho Abstract From the second half of the nineteenth century onwards, there was the introduction of new materials, such as cast iron, steel and glass, in the remodeling or in the construction of buildings that sought to satisfy the new needs of urban management and the creation of leisure spaces and sociability. In these interventions that were marked by the iron architecture, the engineers, a professional group with technical skills that enabled them to work with these materials, played a decisive role. In the city of Évora this link between the utilization of new materials and engineers, is visible in the role that engineer Adriano Monteiro had in the conversion of the D. The first days of radioactivity, the discoveries of X-rays, radioactivity, of alpha- and beta- particles and gamma- radiation, of new radioactive elements, of artificial radioactivity, the neutron and positron and nuclear fission are reviewed as well as several adverse historical marks, such as the Manhattan project and some nuclear and radiological accidents. Nuclear energy generation in Brazil and the world, as an alternative to minimize environmental problems, is discussed, as are the medicinal, industrial and food applications of ionizing radiation. The text leads the reader to reflect on the subject and to consider its various aspects with scientific and technological maturity.

We present and discuss in this article some features of a research program whose central object of investigation is the way in which the recent fields of history, philosophy, and sociology of mathematical education could take part in a critical and qualified manner in the initial and continuing training of teachers in this area. For that, we endorse the viewpoint that the courses for mathematics teacher education should be based on a conception of specificity through which a new pedagogical project could be established. In such project those new fields of investigation would participate, in an organic and clarifying way, in the constitution of multidimensional problematizations of school practices, in which mathematics would be involved, and that would be guided by academic investigations about the issues that currently challenge teachers in the critical work of incorporation, resignification, production, and transmission of mathematical culture in the context of the school institution.

INTRODUCTION: Subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH), defined as elevated concentrations of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) despite normal levels of thyroid hormones, is highly prevalent in Brazil, especially among women and the elderly. Although an increasing number of studies have related SCH to an increased risk of coronary artery disease and mortality, there have been no randomized clinical trials verifying the benefit of levothyroxine treatment in reducing these risks, and the treatment remains controversial. OBJECTIVE: This consensus, sponsored by the Thyroid Department of the Brazilian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism and developed by Brazilian experts with extensive clinical experience with thyroid diseases, presents these recommendations based on evidence for the clinical management of SCH patients in Brazil. MATERIALS AND METHODS: After structuring the clinical questions, the search for evidence in the literature was initially performed in the MedLine-PubMed database and later in the Embase and SciELO - Lilacs databases. The strength of evidence was evaluated according to the Oxford classification system and established based on the experimental design used, considering the best available evidence for each question and the Brazilian experience. RESULTS: The topics covered included SCH definition and diagnosis, natural history, clinical significance, treatment and pregnancy, and the consensus issued 29 recommendations for the clinical management of adult patients with SCH. CONCLUSION: Treatment with levothyroxine was recommended for all patients with persistent SCH with serum TSH values > 10 mU/L and for certain patient subgroups.

Dental impression is an important step in the preparation of prostheses since it provides the reproduction of anatomic and surface details of teeth and adjacent structures. The objective of this study was to evaluate the linear dimensional alterations in gypsum dies obtained with different elastomeric materials, using a resin coping impression technique with individual shells. A master cast made of stainless steel with fixed prosthesis characteristics with two prepared abutment teeth was used to obtain the impressions. References points (A, B, C, D, E and F) were recorded on the occlusal and buccal surfaces of abutments to register the distances. The impressions were obtained using the following materials: polyether, mercaptan-polysulfide, addition silicone, and condensation silicone. The transfer impressions were made with custom trays and an irreversible hydrocolloid material and were poured with type IV gypsum. The distances between identified points in gypsum dies were measured using an optical microscope and the results were statistically analyzed by ANOVA (p < 0.05) and Tukey's test. The mean of the distances were registered as follows: addition silicone (AB = 13.6 µm, CD=15.0 µm, EF = 14.6 µm, GH=15.2 µm), mercaptan-polysulfide (AB = 36.0 µm, CD = 36.0 µm, EF = 39.6 µm, GH = 40.6 µm), polyether (AB = 35.2 µm, CD = 35.6 µm, EF = 39.4 µm, GH = 41.4 µm) and condensation silicone (AB = 69.2 µm, CD = 71.0 µm, EF = 80.6 µm, GH = 81.2 µm). All of the measurements found in gypsum dies were compared to those of a master cast. The results demonstrated that the addition silicone provides the best stability of the compounds tested, followed by polyether, polysulfide and condensation silicone. No statistical differences were obtained between polyether and mercaptan-polysulfide materials.
