Manual diseñado para que profesores de enseñanza secundaria ayuden y apoyen el desarrollo de la inteligencia emocional, que abarca la conciencia y la responsabilidad, la actitud positiva y apreciativa, la empatía y el respeto, la motivación y la persistencia. Las actividades para nueve sesiones desarrollan la inteligencia con respecto a uno mismo, otras personas, el empleo y el futuro.

Recurso que ofrece enfoques y estrategias que los profesores pueden utilizar para ayudar a sus estudiantes con síndrome de Asperger y autismo en el camino hacia el éxito. Analiza los problemas que pueden surgir en el aula de inclusión y cómo los educadores pueden hacer adaptaciones para atender a sus alumnos con autismo sin interferir en las rutinas del aula estándar. Incluye información sobre lo que puede causar ansiedad en el estudiante con estas discapacidades, los posibles incrementos en los problemas de comportamiento, y lo que el profesor puede hacer para ayudar. Cuenta con diez estrategias acompañadas de ejemplos y razones por las que son importantes usarlas.

Flexibles y accesibles, estos proyectos imaginativos ofrecen una gran cantidad de material fotocopiable y proyectos para complementar cualquier libro de curso. Los proyectos capturarán la imaginación de jóvenes estudiantes y les motivarán a hablar el inglés de una manera cooperativa mientras trabajan en el proyecto. El libro está escrito para profesores de inglés cuyos estudiantes son de edades comprendidas entre los once y los diecisiete años. Proyectos imaginativos está dividido en diez capítulos, los primeros ocho de estos están divididos en mini-proyectos, cada mini-proyecto es una lección.

Objective: To introduce a new approach to problem based learning (PBL) used in the context of medicinal chemistry practical class teaching pharmacy students. Design: The described chemistry practical is based on independent studies by small groups of undergraduate students (4-5), who design their own practical work taking relevant professional standards into account. Students are carefully guided by feedback and acquire a set of skills important to their future profession as healthcare professionals. This model has been tailored to the application of PBL in a chemistry practical class setting for a large student cohort (150 students). Assessment: The achievement of learning outcomes is based on the submission of relevant documentation including a certificate of analysis, in addition to peer assessment. Some of the learning outcomes are also assessed in the final written examination at the end of the academic year. Conclusion: The described design of a novel PBL chemistry laboratory course for pharmacy students has been found to be successful. Self-reflective learning and engagement with feedback were encouraged, and students enjoyed the challenging learning experience. Skills that are highly essential for the students’ future careers as healthcare professionals are promoted.

Previous studies have revealed that students who work and study build up sleep deficits during the workweek, which can trigger a sleep rebound during days off. The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of working/non-working on sleepiness during days off among high school students. The study population, aged 14-21 years, attended evening classes in Sao Paulo, Brazil. For the study, the students completed questionnaires on living conditions, health, and work; wore actigraphs; and completed the Karolinska Sleepiness Scale (KSS). To predict sleepiness, a logistic regression analysis was performed. Excessive sleepiness was observed on the first day off among working students. Results suggest that working is a significant predictor for sleepiness and that two shifts of daily systematic activities, study and work, might lead to excessive daytime sleepiness on the first day off. Further, this observed excessive sleepiness may reflect the sleep debt accumulated during the workweek.
