Developing a theoretical framework using a nursing perspective to investigate perceived health in the "Sandwich Generation" group

Coexisting workloads from professional, household and family, and caregiving activities for frail parents expose middle-aged individuals, the so-called "Sandwich Generation", to potential health risks. Current trends suggest that this situation will continue or increase. Thus SG health promotion has become a nursing concern. Most existing research considers coexisting workloads a priori pathogenic. Most studies have examined the association of one, versus two, of these three activities with health. Few studies have used a nursing perspective. This article presents the development of a framework based on a nursing model. We integrated Siegrist's Effort-Reward Imbalance middle-range theory into "Neuman Systems Model". The latter was chosen for its salutogenic orientation, its attention to preventive nursing interventions and the opportunity it provides to simultaneously consider positive and negative perceptions of SG health and SG coexisting workloads. Finally, it facilitated a theoretical identification of health protective factors.

Charges de travail et santé perçue de la "génération sandwich"

La coexistence des charges professionnelles, familiales, et d'aide à des ascendants expose la Génération Sandwich (GS) à des risques potentiels pour sa santé. Toutefois, les connaissances sur la GS sont insuffisantes pour permettre aux infirmières du secteur de la santé au travail de développer des interventions en promotion de la santé basées sur des preuves. Ce manque de clarté est préoccupant au vu de certaines tendances sociodémographiques. La présente étude vise à dresser le portrait des travailleurs de la GS en examinant les liens entre leurs caractéristiques, leurs charges co-existantes et leur santé perçue. Pour ce faire, nous avons développé un cadre de référence salutogénique. puis, nous l'avons utilisé pour conduire une recherche descriptive corrélationnelle transversale. un questionnaire électronique a permis de récolter les données de 826 employés d'une administration publique suisse. L'examen a montré que 23.5 % de l'échantillon appartenait à la GS. Cette appartenance ne dépendait pas du sexe. la charge de travail totale (70.5 h/sem) de la GS différait significativement de celle du reste de l'échantillon (62.8 h/sem). Nous n'avons pas trouvé de relation entre cette charge totale et la santé physique ou mentale des femmes. En revanche, il y avait une relation négative entre cette charge totale et la santé physique des hommes, et cette relation était proche du seuil de significativité pour la santé mentale de ces derniers. Grâce à une analyse soucieuse de faire évoluer favorablement les inégalités de genre (gender-transformative), cette étude fournit des pistes pour fonder des interventions préventives en faveur de la santé des membres de la GS.

En större samling konstvetenskaplig litteratur finns vid huvudbiblioteket och av dem handlar några tusen volymer om konsthistoria. Vid Humanistiska biblioteket finns dessutom en stor samling konsthistorisk litteratur i anslutning till ämnet Konstvetenskap Bokdonationer både från Sverige och från Finland kompletterar det som biblioteket erhållit genom sin friexemplarsrätt efter 1918. Bland donationer från Sverige kan nämnas bankdirektör L.A. Odencranz konsthistoriska samling och från Finland kan nämnas några samlingar ur sterbhus så som efter målarinnan Sigrid Granfelt, häradshövding J.V.Brummer och systrarna Annie och Berta Edelfelt. Återvinning av konsthistorisk litteratur tryckt före 1980 kan göras genom manuell sökning i huvudbibliotekets systematiska kortkatalog med signum IVd1. Retroaktiv inmatning i databasen Alma gör att all konstvetenskaplig litteratur tryckt mellan 1830 och 1979 med tiden blir sökbar i Alma med sökfunktionen Signum och söktermen HB IVd. Från och med år 2000 ingår den konsthistoriska litteraturen i en numerus currens-samling.

Samlingen med signum HF Rom finns vid Humanistiska biblioteket i anslutning till ämnet Franska. I samlingen ingår litteratur om fransk språkvetenskap och litteraturvetenskap liksom en del fransk skönlitteratur. Endel fransk vitterhet har kommit till akademibiblioteket som donation från franska ambassaden i Helsingfors. Några privata donatorer kan nämnas som prof. Sigurd Frosterus, rektor C.M. At the end of the XIX century, a group of chemists and theosophists called the Occult Chemists suggested it would be possible "to see" atoms by clairvoyance. In a meditative situation, a skilled person in contact with a substance would thus be able to see magnified atoms and molecules, as well as its internal structure. Annie Besant was the leader of this group and, together with Curuppumullage Jinarajadasa, Charles Leadbeater and Bertram Keightley, they devised an extraordinary atomic theory in which atoms consisted of smaller, indivisible units of energy called anu. In this paper, we present the fundamental principles of this unusual theory.

Bowslaugh Family fonds, 1860-1861, 1868, 1876-1877, 1880-1882, 1886-1890, 1892-1893, 1895, 1898-1899, n.d.

Edward W. Bowslaugh (1843-1923) was the son of Jacob and Anna (Beamer) Bowslaugh. Edward Bowslaugh married Mary Southward, and the couple had six children, Edgar Morley, Edward Freeman, twins Alfred Malcolm and Alice Mary, Annie Olivia, John Jacob and Mabel Florence. Edward W. Bowslaugh was a farmer, contractor and owner of the Grimsby Planing Mills in Grimsby, Ont. and Bowslaugh’s Planing Mill in Kingsville, Ont. The mills manufactured door and sash trim and other wood related products. Some customers contracted the firm to provide wood products for cottages being built at Grimsby Park, the Methodist camp ground. Some time before 1885 Edward Bowslaugh and his family moved to Kingsville, Ont. to open up a new planing mill and door and sash manufactory. He later sold the Grimsby Planing Mills to Daniel Marsh. The diaries and account books include many names of workers as well as friends and family members residing in the Grimsby and Kingsville areas. James M. Bowslaugh (1841-1882) was the son of Jacob and Anna (Beamer) Bowslaugh. James married first Anna Catharine Merritt and after her death in 1875 he married Mary Gee in 1877. James and Anna had three children, Eliza, James Herbert, George Hiram, all died very young. James and Mary Gee had one son, Charles Leopold Kenneth Frederich Bowslaugh, b. 1881. James Bowslaugh was a farmer and lumberman, much like his younger brother Edward. James’ early diaries often note the activities of himself and his brother Edward. Both Edward and James were heavily involved in the Methodist church, teaching or leading Sunday school and attending prayer meetings. Alfred M. Bowslaugh b. 1873 was the son of Edward W. Bowslaugh and his wife Mary Southward. The school notebook is from his days as a student in Kingsville, Ont.
