Analytical progresses of the International Olympic Committee and World Anti-Doping Agency Olympic laboratories.

The Summer Olympic Games constitute the biggest concentration of human sports and activities in a particular place and time since 776 BCE, when the written history of the Olympic Games in Olympia began. Summer and Winter Olympic anti-doping laboratories, accredited by the International Olympic Committee in the past and the World Anti-Doping Agency in the present times, acquire worldwide interest to apply all new analytical advancements in the fight against doping in sports, hoping that this major human event will not become dirty by association with this negative phenomenon. This article summarizes the new analytical progresses, technologies and knowledge used by the Olympic laboratories, which for the vast majority of them are, eventually, incorporated into routine anti-doping analysis.

Topographic ERP analyses: a step-by-step tutorial review

In this tutorial review, we detail both the rationale for as well as the implementation of a set of analyses of surface-recorded event-related potentials (ERPs) that uses the reference-free spatial (i.e. topographic) information available from high-density electrode montages to render statistical information concerning modulations in response strength, latency, and topography both between and within experimental conditions. In these and other ways these topographic analysis methods allow the experimenter to glean additional information and neurophysiologic interpretability beyond what is available from canonical waveform analyses. In this tutorial we present the example of somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) in response to stimulation of each hand to illustrate these points. For each step of these analyses, we provide the reader with both a conceptual and mathematical description of how the analysis is carried out, what it yields, and how to interpret its statistical outcome. We show that these topographic analysis methods are intuitive and easy-to-use approaches that can remove much of the guesswork often confronting ERP researchers and also assist in identifying the information contained within high-density ERP datasets

This ethical framework document, compiled by the Iowa Pandemic Influenza Ethics Committee, provides ethical guidance to the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) for a pandemic influenza situation. The ethics committee proposes the document as a foundation for decision making in preparing for and responding to pandemic influenza. The document addresses four ethical or moral focal points that public health and health care workers may need to address during a public health disaster.

2014 Iowa Commercial Air Service Retention and Expansion Committee - Plan

Senate File 2355 Sec. 19 (Iowa Code §328.13) created a commercial air service retention and expansion committee within the aviation office of the department of transportation. The membership of the committee consisted of the director or the director’s designee; the managers of each airport in Iowa with commercial air service; two members of the senate, one appointed by the majority leader of the senate and one appointed by the minority leader of the senate; and two members of the house of representatives, one appointed by the speaker of the house and one appointed by the minority leader of the house. The committee was to develop a plan by December 31, 2014 for the retention and expansion of passenger air service in Iowa. The committee is to meet as the committee deems necessary to assess progress in implementing the plan and, if necessary, to update the plan.

Infant Mortality in Iowa Interim Study Committee, January 1992

The Infant Mortality in Iowa Interim Study Committee was established by the Legislative Council to review historical trends in Iowa's infant mortality rates to identify the extent of the problem on a statewide basis. Identify areas in the state with the greatest incidence of infant mortality, and research health complications. Identify factors which lead to impoverished families, and research access to health care services. Survey and review the current structure of service provided to pregnant women in Iowa health care facilities, and solicit information on the level of existing prenatal services. Recommend changes in Iowa's health care system which would lower Iowa's infant mortality rate.

A tutorial review of electrical neuroimaging from group-average to single-trial event-related potentials.

This tutorial review details some of the recent advances in signal analyses applied to event-related potential (ERP) data. These "electrical neuroimaging" analyses provide reference-independent measurements of response strength and response topography that circumvent statistical and interpretational caveats of canonical ERP analysis methods while also taking advantage of the greater information provided by high-density electrode montages. Electrical neuroimaging can be applied across scales ranging from group-averaged ERPs to single-subject and single-trial datasets. We illustrate these methods with a tutorial dataset and place particular emphasis on their suitability for studies of clinical and/or developmental populations.

Haemophilia registry of the medical committee of the Swiss Haemophilia Society. Update and annual survey 2009.

The Swiss Haemophilia Registry of the Medical Committee of the Swiss Haemophilia Society started in 1996 but was set as an internet-based, double password-protected facility in the year 2000. With the inclusion of patients' data from two new centres in 2009, we assume a coverage rate of about 90% of all patients with inherited bleeding disorders in our country. Data concerning the phenotype and genotype of the disorder, its severity, its therapy, the prevalence of inhibitors are readily available to the registered users, allowing quality control of haemophilia therapy at a national level, but also rapid care of the patient visiting the emergency room of another treatment centre. Basing on the available data, about two thirds of the WFH global survey can be answered; the mortality statistics shows that bleeding remains a cause of death in haemophiliacs, also in the 21th century. The Registry allows for comparisons with international datasets, especially with respect to treatment (prophylaxis vs. on-demand therapy), factor consumption and costs.

Child Welfare Advisory Committee's Report, January 2016

The Child Welfare Advisory Committee (CWAC) was charged to study procedures in the Department of Human Services for receiving complaints from families involved in guardianship, placement, and custody proceeding and the specificity and clarity of court orders issued in foster care placements pursuant to the State of Iowa Primary Review.
