Contribuição ao conhecimento da morfologia de Oxyagrion Terminale Selys, 1876 com um estudo sobre a genitália externa (Odonata, Zygoptera, Coenagrionidae)

Foi feita uma análise minuciosa da morfologia externa de Oxyagrion terminale Selys, 1876, onde foram interpretadas as principais estruturas da cabeça, tórax, patas, asas e abdômen vistos de vários ângulos, dando especial atenção ao estudo da genitália de ambos os sexos, em microscopia ótica e eletrônica de varredura.

On Dichelyne (Cucullanellus) elongatus (Tornquist, 1931) Petter, 1974: South American correlated species (Nematoda, Cucullanidae) and some other helminths of micropogonias furnieri (Desmarest, 1823) (Pisces, Sciaenidae)

Dichelyne (Cucullanellus) elongatus (Tomquist, 1931) Petter, 1974, from Venezuela, of which D.(C.) amaurincai (Freitas, Vicente & Ibáñez, 1969) Petter, 1974 is proposed as a junior synonym, is redescribed and comments on the present status of the remaining species under the group, namely D.(C.) dichelyneformes (Szidat, 1950) Petter, 1974, D.(C.) rodriguesi (Pinto, Fábio & Noronha, 1970) Petter, 1974 and D.(C.) travassosi (Guimarães & Cristofaro, 1974), occuring in South America are made. Dollfusentis chandleri Golvan, 1969 (Acanthocephala, Illiosentidae), Poecilancistrium caryophyllum (Diesing, 1850)(Cestoidea, Otobothriidae) and Callitetrarhynchus gracilis (Rudolphi, 1819)(Cestoidea, Dasyrhynchidae) as well as larval forms of Echinocephalus sp. (Nematoda, Gnathostomatidae) and Contracaecum sp. (Nematoda, Anisakidae) are also reported.

Nacionalismo e identidad nacional en Corea, 1876-1945

Este trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo el análisis de las circunstancias sociopolíticas que propiciaron la aparición y consolidación del nacionalismo como paradigma dominante en la creación de una nueva identidad colectiva coreana. El nacionalismo ha sido, en las últimas décadas, el discurso dominante dentro de la sociedad y la política coreana. De la derecha a la izquierda, pasando por los conservadores y los radicales, el pueblo coreano ha acogido de manera análoga el discurso nacionalista, siendo un instrumento utilizado abiertamente por las diferentes fuerzas gubernamentales para su propia legitimación política y moral tanto en el norte como en el sur.

Some Aspects of the Development of Lobatostoma jungwirthi Kritscher, 1974 (Aspidogastrea) in Snails and Cichlid Fishes from Buenos Aires, Argentina

The molluscs Heleobia castellanosae and Ampullaria canaliculata and cichlid fishes were collected from an artificial pond at Tres de Febrero Park (Buenos Aires city), between June 1994 and May 1995. One hundred and eighty of 2,467 H. castellanosae examined were infected with pre-adults of Lobatostoma jungwirthi, 112 of them in concurrent infections with digeneans. L. jungwirthi was significantly more prevalent in larger snails, especially those infected with larval digeneans, but the prevalence of infection did not fluctuate significantly throughout the year. A. canaliculata and cichlids smaller than 10 cm were not infected, but larger Cichlasoma facetum harboured adults of L. jungwirthi in their intestines. Experimental infections of C. facetum and Gymnogeophagus meridionalis with pre-adult aspidogastreans obtained from H. castellanosae were successful. The development of L. jungwirthi in the snail host involves five arbitrary growth phases. Its life-cycle is heteroxenous, similar to that described for L. manteri, with H. castellanosae as the intermediate host and cichlid fishes as the definitive host in this pond.

A new nematode species (Seuratoidea, Cucullanidae) parasitizing Parauchenipterus striatulus (Steindachner, 1876) (Pisces, Auchenipteridae) in Brazil

A new species of a cucullanid nematode is described, illustrated and compared with Cucullanus brevispiculus Moravec, Kohn & Fernandes, 1993 and C. rhamphichthydis Moravec, Kohn & Fernandes, 1997, two species previously reported as parasitizing freshwater fish in South America. The new species is characterized mainly by markedly short spicules, deirids and excretory pore situated posterior to the oesophago-intestinal junction, presence of strongly sclerotized plates in the oesophastome and oesophagus divided into two distinct portions.

Survie en cas de cancer dans le canton de Vaud : rapport statistique descriptif : cas incidents 1974-1980

On présente les résultats de survie pour 22 localisations choisies. Les collectifs étudiés comprennent environ 80% de l'ensemble des cas nouveaux (incidents) recensés par le Registre vaudois des tumeurs entre 1974 et 1980 dans le canton de Vaud. Chaque type ou groupe de tumeurs est décrit en fonction du sexe, de l'âge, du type histologique et de l'expérience de survie globale brute ou corrigée jusqu'à cinq ans. De plus, des analyses de survie plus détaillées, notamment par sous-localisation ou type morphologique sont rapportées pour le côlon, les poumons, les mélanomes cutanés, les testicules et les leucémies. Les taux corrigés à cinq ans sont confrontés, dans un tableau synthétique, avec ceux de Genève, de Finlande, de Norvège, de Nouvelle-Zélande et du SEER (Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results) pour les blancs des USA.

Capsule endoscopy in the small bowel Crohn's disease.

CD is a chronic inflammatory disorder associated to mucosal and transmural inflammation of the bowel wall. It is well known that CD can affect the entire gastrointestinal. Therefore, ileocolonoscopy and biopsies of the terminal ileum as well as of each colonic segment to look for microscopic evidence of CD are the first-line procedures to establish the diagnosis. However, it has been observed that up to 30% of the patients have only small bowel involvement. Evaluation of the small bowel has been made with radiological procedures, barium radiography, and abdominal computed tomography or by ileocolonoscopy or enteroscopy, but they have many recognized limitations. CE is undoubtedly a very useful diagnostic tool proposed to observe small-bowel lesions undetectable by conventional endoscopy or radiologic studies. We review different studies that have been published reporting the use of CE in suspected and evaluation of the extension or the recurrence in CD and also its use in pediatric population and its complications.
