A clinical investigation was undertaken to find out the prevalence of craniomandibular signs and symptoms in a group of 11 patients with labiopalatal lesions. The number and distribution of occlusal contacts was evaluated through questionnaire, clinical examination and analysis of mounted casts in partially adjustable articulators in the position of maximum inter cuspation. The most frequent signs and symptoms were articular sounds and lateral pterygoid muscle tenderness to palpation followed by restriction of mouth opening and sensation of tiredness. The number of occlusal contacts was small, mean of 5 contacts per patient, and the site was considered as atypical, 62% of them were on inclined plane surfaces , suggesting occlusal instability. The frequency of signs and symptoms was low and they were of a mild character. The most prevailing signs of craniomandibular dysfunction - articular sounds, muscular tenderness to palpation and restriction of mouth opening - was noticed in only one of the patients

Introduction: Due to the high recurrence of pain complaints and the increasing incidence of musculoskeletal injuries and postural changes in dance practice, researches related to this issue gained greater importance in scientific community. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate complaints and pain threshold, postural misalignments and the incidence of injuries in dancers noting if there is a relationship between these variables. Method: Participants were 15 ballet dancers in Marília - SP. We used photogrammetry for postural analysis, the McGill Pain Questionnaire for pain location of the volunteer, algometry pressure for measuring the threshold of pain perception and Referred Morbidity to verify and characterize the incidence of injuries this population. In the data analysis we use to percentage to quantify the data from questionnaires and Pearson correlation test angles of photogrammetry correlating with the values of the threshold of pain perception. Results: 73.33% of dancers reported to have suffered some kind of injury in the last year. The area of greatest pain complaint checked at McGill, was the region of the foot (73.30%). Conclusion: There was an agreement between regions of injury and pain, however, there wasn’t a correlation between the threshold of pain tolerance and postural angles.

The stroke, cause of morbidity and mortality, has been associated with imbalance in the neural control of the heart, which contributes to the decrease in heart rate variability (HRV) and a prognostic factor for cardiacevents and arrhythmias. The aim of this study was to in investigate the autonomic modulation of heart rate of men suffering from lesions stroke in chronicphase. Eight menaged 58.62 ± 2.88 years, 27.41 ± 5.33 kg/m2of bodymass índex, with paresis for at least six months were studied. Heart rate (HR) and RR intervals (iR-R) were recorded at rest in supine position for 10 minutes. Geometric índices of the Poincaré plot were calculated: SD1, associatedwith vagal activity; SD2, associated with global activity but sympathetic predominance, and the relationship of both (SD1/SD2). Geometric index values in the sample: SD1 = 20,54 ± 9,90ms; SD2 = 36,80 ± 30,61ms; SD1/SD2 = 0,49 ± 0,04. The reference values from literature for healthy subjects are: SD1 = 19.6 ± 9.4ms e 22.8 ± 16.1 ms; SD2 = 43.2 ± 17.7 ms e 56.3 ± 12.3 ms; SD1/SD2 = 0.49 ± 0.21ms. Men in chronic phase of stroke haven't autonomic dysfunction analyzed by nonlinear method – Poincaré geometricíndices.

Introduction: Spinal cord injury occurs due to interuption in nerve stimuli and could caused from traumatic and non-traumatic illnes. After spinal cord, there are problems in personal life activities affecting ou modifying personal life and provoking impacts in his own life. International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Healthy (ICF) consider and analyse more than the illness ou injury and include informations about functionality in differents domains as activities, participation and enviroment. Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate functionality wheelchair athlets with spinal cord injury using ICF. Metodology: For this research, it was evaluated 60 athlets with spinal cord injury who were practicing wheelchair basqketball, using the Checklist corresponding to the main ICF categories and othes Identity Protocol with personal datas, lesion time, lesion level and functional classification from bwheelchair basketball. Results: In analyses, we identify in quartis data, that in Body Fucntion, median was 56,67% from all athlets with light and moderate qualifications; In Body Strutucture, the median was 60% for light qualifications; in Activities and Participation, this median corresponded to 91% and in Enviroment Factors, 51,67% feel that this enviroment was facilitator... Destruction of bone and periodontal ligament as a result of periodontal disease can lead to anatomical defects in the furcation area. Treatment of these lesions is a major challenge to the clinician. Periodontal instruments have limited access to this area and plaque and calculus removal from root surfaces are extremely difficult. For proper treatment planning a number of factors must be taken into consideration to achieve immediate and long term success. Surgical therapy associated with bone grafts may be a viable option in the treatment of class II furcation defects, aiming to restore lost tissues. The aim of this paper is to report a clinical case where a simplified surgical approach with the use of autogenous graft was used to treat a class II furcation defect Twelve months after the surgery, an increase in clinical attachment level and pocket depth reduction resulted in a complete closure of the furcation lesion.
