Creación y gestión de una marca. El caso IUBUD, fundas de madera para dispositivos Apple

Aquest treball d’investigació, té com a objectiu principal, desenvolupar una estratègia de Brand management després d’haver estudiat diferents teories sobre creació i gestió de marques. Des de el naixement de las marques, han sigut molts els autors que han estudiat aquest fenomen per assentar las bases del que avui es coneix com branding, disciplina que s’encarrega de l’estudi d’aquestes. Entre aquests autors podem trobar diferents teories o models de Brand management. El meu treball de final de carrera, en una primera part, analitzarà els conceptes des de la perspectiva dels diferents autors. Són diverses las metodologies que podem trobar en aquesta disciplina, des de el seu origen més acadèmic, de màrqueting o econòmic, per tant, durant el desenvolupament d’aquest treball final de carrera, s’estudiaran algunes d’aquestes vessants i es valoraran las seves conclusions, per a posteriorment desenvolupar una metodologia pròpia i dur la a la pràctica per a la creació d’una marca real. La segona part consisteix en aplicar la metodologia, a un cas pràctic, i poder crear una marca des de cero, amb una base científica, que ens guiï al llarg de tots els processos de presa de decisions. Des de l’anàlisi previ, passant per l’estratègia de marca i finalment de comunicació. Això ens ha permès crear una marca per a un producte concret, i aconseguir posicionar lo en el mercat. Per finalitzar, es presenten las aplicacions corresponents a la marca, resultants d’haver seguit la metodologia plantejada inicialment. Aquest treball de final de carrera es contempla amb annexos en els que queden documentats els processos y anàlisis citats al llarg del desenvolupament.

Desenvolupament d'una app

El TFM ha consistit en participar i conèixer de prop tots el passos de desenvolupament d’una aplicació: elaboració d’un guió, realització de la part gràfica, programació i màrqueting. Per aquest motiu he realitzat unes hores de pràctiques a l'empresa Factoria Interactive SL. Durant aquest periòde vaig realitzar diversos guions per diferents apps relacionades amb continguts matemàtics i vaig participar en el programació de l'app "Dress up". I l'últim pas va consistir en penjar l'app a la botiga de Google Play. Calculation of radio electrical coverage in Medium-Wave Frequencies

The aim of this project is to accomplish an application software based on Matlab to calculate the radioelectrical coverage by surface wave of broadcast radiostations in the band of Medium Wave (WM) all around the world. Also, given the location of a transmitting and a receiving station, the software should be able to calculate the electric field that the receiver should receive at that specific site. In case of several transmitters, the program should search for the existence of Inter-Symbol Interference, and calculate the field strenght accordingly. The application should ask for the configuration parameters of the transmitter radiostation within a Graphical User Interface (GUI), and bring back the resulting coverage above a map of the area under study. For the development of this project, it has been used several conductivity databases of different countries, and a high-resolution elevation database (GLOBE). Also, to calculate the field strenght due to groundwave propagation, it has been used ITU GRWAVE program, which must be integrated into a Matlab interface to be used by the application developed.

Filtros digitais por transformadas de Fourier aplicados em eletroquímica

The electrochemical properties of micro and nano-electrodes are widely investigated due to their low faradaic and capacitive currents, leading to a new generation of smart and implantable devices. However, the current signals obtained in low-dimensional devices are strongly influenced by noise sources. In this paper, we show the evaluation of filters based on Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and their implementation in a graphical user interface (GUI) in MATLAB®. As a case study, we evaluated an electrochemical reaction process of charge transfer via outer-sphere. Results showed successful removal of most of the noise in signals, thus proving a promising tool for low-scale measurement.

Improving and User Interface to E-Procurement Software Used in Asset Accounting and Investigating Effects to Efficiency

This diploma thesis has been done to international organization which takes care from the accounting actions of two major companies. In this organization are used three different purchasing tools which are used when new asset master data is wanted to input to SAP R/3- system. The aim of this thesis is to find out how much changing the user interface of one of these three e-procurement programs will affect to overall efficiency in asset accounting. As an addition will be introduced project framework which can be used in future projects and which help to avoid certain steps in the development process. At the moment data needs to be inputted manually with many useless mouse clicks and data needs to be searched from many various resources which slow down the process. Other organization has better tools at the moment than the myOrders system which is under investigation Research was started by exploring the main improvement areas. After this possible defects were traced. Suggested improvements were thought by exploring literature which has been written from usability design and research. Meanwhile also directional calculations from the benefits of the project were done alongside with the analysis of the possible risks and threats. After this NSN IT approved the changes which they thought was acceptable. The next step was to program them into tool and test them before releasing to production environment. The calculations were made also from implemented improvements and compared them to planned ones From whole project was made a framework which can be utilized also to other similar projects. The complete calculation was not possible because of time schedule of the project. Important observation in the project was that efficiency is not improved not only by changing the GUI but also improving processes without any programming. Feedback from end user should be also listened more in development process. End-user is after all the one who knows the best how the program should look like.

Avaliação ultra-sonográfica do osso nasal fetal: evolução das medidas ao longo da gestação

OBJETIVO: além da ausência ultra-sonográfica do osso nasal fetal, sua hipoplasia também apresenta forte associação com a trissomia 21, porém por não haver clara definição do que seja tal hipoplasia, objetivou-se estabelecer seus valores de referência ao longo da gestação, em população brasileira. MÉTODOS: este estudo seccional se baseou em 625 dentre 902 fetos, entre 10 e 39 semanas, considerando-se uma medida de cada indivíduo. Foram excluídos os malformados e aqueles cujas mães apresentavam doenças que, sabidamente, interferem em seu crescimento. Utilizou-se a imagem ecográfica do perfil fetal, com feixe acústico incidindo em ângulo de 45 ou 135° em relação ao plano da face. A média de cada idade gestacional foi estimada pela regressão polinomial. O teste de Anderson-Darling verificou a distribuição normal das medidas (p>0,05). RESULTADOS: dos 625 fetos, 88,3% originaram-se de gestações simples e 11,7% de gestações múltiplas. O avanço da idade gestacional implicou aumento da medida do osso nasal e aumento de sua variabilidade. Encontrou-se tamanho mínimo de 1,0 mm e 4,7 mm no primeiro e segundo trimestres, respectivamente. CONCLUSÕES: há correlação direta entre o tamanho do osso nasal e a idade gestacional. Essa correlação é válida tanto para gestação simples quanto para múltipla. Este trabalho permite adotar a avaliação ecográfica do osso nasal fetal como marcador de cromossomopatias, ao estabelecer os valores de referência de sua medida ao longo da gestação, útil para a população brasileira, com grande miscigenação étnica. Entretanto, necessita-se aprimorar a sistematização e padronização do estudo ecográfico do osso nasal fetal, além de estabelecer seu real valor em fetos previamente classificados como de alto e baixo risco para aneuploidias.

Interaction between human cytomegalovirus UL136 protein and ATP1B1 protein

Interplay between the host and human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) has a pivotal role in the outcome of infection. A region (referred to as UL/b’) present in the Toledo strain of HCMV and low passage clinical isolates contains 19 additional genes, which are absent in the highly passaged laboratory strain AD169. Products of the UL/b’ genes may determine the manifestations of HCMV infection in vivo. However, little is known about the host factors, which interact with UL/b’ proteins. This study was conducted to investigate the function of the HCMV UL136 protein. By yeast two-hybrid screening, the β1 subunit of the host Na+/K+-ATPase (ATP1B1) was identified to be a candidate protein, which interacts with the HCMV UL136 protein. The interaction was further evaluated both in vitro by pull-down assay and in vivo by immunofluorescent co-localization. The results showed that the UL136 protein can interact with ATP1B1 in vitro. Co-localization of UL136-EGFP and ATP1B1-DsRed in cell membranes suggests that ATP1B1 was a partner of the UL136 protein. It can be proposed that the HCMV UL136 protein may have important roles in processes such as cell-to-cell spread, and in maintaining cell osmotic pressure and intracellular ion homeostasis during HCMV infection.

In vitro culture and characterization of alveolar bone osteoblasts isolated from type 2 diabetics

In order to understand the mechanisms of poor osseointegration following dental implants in type 2 diabetics, it is important to study the biological properties of alveolar bone osteoblasts isolated from these patients. We collected alveolar bone chips under aseptic conditions and cultured them in vitro using the tissue explants adherent method. The biological properties of these cells were characterized using the following methods: alkaline phosphatase (ALP) chemical staining for cell viability, Alizarin red staining for osteogenic characteristics, MTT test for cell proliferation, enzyme dynamics for ALP contents, radio-immunoassay for bone gla protein (BGP) concentration, and ELISA for the concentration of type I collagen (COL-I) in the supernatant. Furthermore, we detected the adhesion ability of two types of cells from titanium slices using non-specific immunofluorescence staining and cell count. The two cell forms showed no significant difference in morphology under the same culture conditions. However, the alveolar bone osteoblasts received from type 2 diabetic patients had slower growth, lower cell activity and calcium nodule formation than the normal ones. The concentration of ALP, BGP and COL-I was lower in the supernatant of alveolar bone osteoblasts received from type 2 diabetic patients than in that received from normal subjects (P < 0.05). The alveolar bone osteoblasts obtained from type 2 diabetic patients can be successfully cultured in vitro with the same morphology and biological characteristics as those from normal patients, but with slower growth and lower concentration of specific secretion and lower combining ability with titanium than normal ones.

The role of Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II and calcineurin in TNF-α-induced myocardial hypertrophy

We investigated whether Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent kinase II (CaMKII) and calcineurin (CaN) are involved in myocardial hypertrophy induced by tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α). The cardiomyocytes of neonatal Wistar rats (1-2 days old) were cultured and stimulated by TNF-α (100 μg/L), and Ca2+ signal transduction was blocked by several antagonists, including BAPTA (4 µM), KN-93 (0.2 µM) and cyclosporin A (CsA, 0.2 µM). Protein content, protein synthesis, cardiomyocyte volumes, [Ca2+]i transients, CaMKIIδB and CaN were evaluated by the Lowry method, [³H]-leucine incorporation, a computerized image analysis system, a Till imaging system, and Western blot analysis, respectively. TNF-α induced a significant increase in protein content in a dose-dependent manner from 10 µg/L (53.56 µg protein/well) to 100 μg/L (72.18 µg protein/well), and in a time-dependent manner from 12 h (37.42 µg protein/well) to 72 h (42.81 µg protein/well). TNF-α (100 μg/L) significantly increased the amplitude of spontaneous [Ca2+]i transients, the total protein content, cell size, and [³H]-leucine incorporation in cultured cardiomyocytes, which was abolished by 4 µM BAPTA, an intracellular Ca2+ chelator. The increases in protein content, cell size and [³H]-leucine incorporation were abolished by 0.2 µM KN-93 or 0.2 µM CsA. TNF-α increased the expression of CaMKIIδB by 35.21% and that of CaN by 22.22% compared to control. These effects were abolished by 4 µM BAPTA, which itself had no effect. These results suggest that TNF-α induces increases in [Ca2+]i, CaMKIIδB and CaN and promotes cardiac hypertrophy. Therefore, we hypothesize that the Ca2+/CaMKII- and CaN-dependent signaling pathways are involved in myocardial hypertrophy induced by TNF-α.

Armazenamento de sementes de orquídeas

Sementes de dezesseis espécies de orquídeas foram armazenadas a 5ºC por até 42 meses, sendo verificada a viabilidade pelo teste de tetrazólio e de germinação. Houve perda da viabilidade conforme incremento no período de armazenamento. Por doze meses, a maioria das espécies estocadas a 5ºC, em dessecador com umidade relativa de ± 6% de conteúdo de água, conservou a viabilidade próxima aos 100%, com exceção da Cattleya labiata que apresentou queda de cerca de 50% da viabilidade inicial. Cattleya intermedia, Encyclia pygmaea, E. odorantissima, Grobya sp., Oncidium flexuosum, Oncidium pumilum e um híbrido natural, Laeliocattleya conservaram, em geladeira, a viabilidade das sementes acima de 90%, por até 24 meses. Para Cattleya intermédia, realizou-se armazenamento de sementes em tubos de polipropileno a 5, -18 e a 25ºC, em dessecador ou condições ambientais sem controle de umidade. Em condições de laboratório houve perda quase total da viabilidade das sementes. A estocagem em geladeira a 5ºC ou em "freezer" a - 18ºC fornece condições adequadas para conservar a viabilidade de sementes de orquídeas. Com essa mesma espécie, as sementes foram armazenadas a -18ºC durante 24 semanas, sendo testada semanalmente sua viabilidade. Para tais avaliações, as sementes eram transferidas diretamente de -18ºC para temperatura ambiente de laboratório (25ºC) ou indiretamente, por uma hora a 5ºC, depois para temperatura ambiente por uma hora. A transferência indireta foi mais eficiente na conservação da viabilidade.

Adopting the Vaadin Java framework to rebuild VTT’s Web Interfaces and Database Applications

With the growth in new technologies, using online tools have become an everyday lifestyle. It has a greater impact on researchers as the data obtained from various experiments needs to be analyzed and knowledge of programming has become mandatory even for pure biologists. Hence, VTT came up with a new tool, R Executables (REX) which is a web application designed to provide a graphical interface for biological data functions like Image analysis, Gene expression data analysis, plotting, disease and control studies etc., which employs R functions to provide results. REX provides a user interactive application for the biologists to directly enter the values and run the required analysis with a single click. The program processes the given data in the background and prints results rapidly. Due to growth of data and load on server, the interface has gained problems concerning time consumption, poor GUI, data storage issues, security, minimal user interactive experience and crashes with large amount of data. This thesis handles the methods by which these problems were resolved and made REX a better application for the future. The old REX was developed using Python Django and now, a new programming language, Vaadin has been implemented. Vaadin is a Java framework for developing web applications and the programming language is extremely similar to Java with new rich components. Vaadin provides better security, better speed, good and interactive interface. In this thesis, subset functionalities of REX was selected which includes IST bulk plotting and image segmentation and implemented those using Vaadin. A code of 662 lines was programmed by me which included Vaadin as the front-end handler while R language was used for back-end data retrieval, computing and plotting. The application is optimized to allow further functionalities to be migrated with ease from old REX. Future development is focused on including Hight throughput screening functions along with gene expression database handling

Caracterização e comportamento germinativo de sementes de Casearia sylvestris Swartz (SALICACEAE)

Casearia sylvestris Swartz (Salicaceae), nome popular de guaçatonga ou chá-de-bugre é um arvore amplamente distribuída pelo Brasil e com uso fitoterápico pela população humana que a explora nos ambientes nativos. O objetivo do presente estudo foi fornecer informações sobre o período das fenofases reprodutivas, sua morfologia e germinação de sementes de C. sylvestris, avaliando a existência de variabilidade do comportamento germinativo em lotes de diferentes procedências. Sementes de duas procedências, Itirapina-SP e Ibiporã-PR, com teor de água de 14,5% e 22,86%, respectivamente, foram germinadas, na ausência de luz, em temperaturas constantes de 27, 30 e 33 ºC ou sob fotoperíodo de 12 h em temperatura alternada de 20-30 ºC, em câmaras BOD. O efeito de reguladores de crescimento foi verificado com soluções de giberelina (10 ou 20 mgL-¹) ou cinetina (5 ou 10 mgL-¹) ou água, sob 27 ºC. O teste de tetrazólio mostrou que 32% das sementes do lote SP e 66% do PR apresentavam-se viáveis. Os lotes apresentaram o padrão trifásico de embebição de água, diferindo nos tempos de emissão da raiz primária. No teste de temperatura foi determinada a faixa ótima de germinação entre 27 e 30 ºC para os lotes. O uso de reguladores de crescimento não foi eficaz em melhorar o desempenho das sementes. As plântulas emergidas do lote SP foram mais vigorosas (maior massa), porém de tamanho menor em relação ao lote PR. Após o armazenamento o lote SP apresentou redução na viabilidade e no vigor e o lote PR redução apenas no vigor.
