As it is well known, competitive electricity markets require new computing tools for power companies that operate in retail markets in order to enhance the management of its energy resources. During the last years there has been an increase of the renewable penetration into the micro-generation which begins to co-exist with the other existing power generation, giving rise to a new type of consumers. This paper develops a methodology to be applied to the management of the all the aggregators. The aggregator establishes bilateral contracts with its clients where the energy purchased and selling conditions are negotiated not only in terms of prices but also for other conditions that allow more flexibility in the way generation and consumption is addressed. The aggregator agent needs a tool to support the decision making in order to compose and select its customers' portfolio in an optimal way, for a given level of profitability and risk.

In recent years the concept of eLearning Framework emerged associated with several initiatives promoted by educational organizations. These initiatives share a common goal: to create flexible learning environments by integrating heterogeneous systems already available in many educational institutions. The paper provides an introductory survey on eLearning Frameworks. It gathers information on these initiatives categorizes them and compares their features regarding a set of predefined criteria such as: architecture, business model, primary user groups, technical implementations, adopted standards, maturity and future development.

Biomaterials have been extensively developed and applied in medical devices. Among these materials, bioabsorbable polymers have attracted special attention for orthopedic applications where a transient existence of an implant can provide better results, when compared with permanent implants. Chitosan, a natural biopolymer, has generated enormous interest due to its various advantages such as biocompatibility, biodegradability and osteoconductive properties. In this paper, an assessment of the potential of a developed innovative production process of 3D solid and dense chitosan-based products for biomedical applications is performed and presented. Therefore, it starts with a brief explanation of the technology, highlighting its main features. Then, several potential applications and their markets were identified and assessed. After choosing a primary application and market, its potential as well as its uncertainties and risks were identified. A business model suggesting how to materialize the value from the application was sketched. After that, a brief description of the market as well as the identification of the main competitors and their distinctive features was made. The supply chain analysis and the go-to-market strategy were the following steps. In the end, a final recommendation based on the assessment of the information was prepared.

Media content personalisation is a major challenge involving viewers as well as media content producer and distributor businesses. The goal is to provide viewers with media items aligned with their interests. Producers and distributors engage in item negotiations to establish the corresponding service level agreements (SLA). In order to address automated partner lookup and item SLA negotiation, this paper proposes the MultiMedia Brokerage (MMB) platform, which is a multiagent system that negotiates SLA regarding media items on behalf of media content producer and distributor businesses. The MMB platform is structured in four service layers: interface, agreement management, business modelling and market. In this context, there are: (i) brokerage SLA (bSLA), which are established between individual businesses and the platform regarding the provision of brokerage services; and (ii) item SLA (iSLA), which are established between producer and distributor businesses about the provision of media items. In particular, this paper describes the negotiation, establishment and enforcement of bSLA and iSLA, which occurs at the agreement and negotiation layers, respectively. The platform adopts a pay-per-use business model where the bSLA define the general conditions that apply to the related iSLA. To illustrate this process, we present a case study describing the negotiation of a bSLA instance and several related iSLA instances. The latter correspond to the negotiation of the Electronic Program Guide (EPG) for a specific end viewer.

As aplicaes de Gesto ou Faturao so uma presena indispensvel hoje em dia. Tendo o seu incio nas aplicaes MS-DOS em modo de texto, estas aplicaes acompanharam a evoluo dos sistemas operativos adotando um ambiente grfico de forma natural. Se h poucos anos apenas as empresas com volumes de negcio significativo possuam software de faturao, este foi sendo adotado por cada vez mais empresas e pequenos negcios. As alteraes legislativas introduzidas desde 2011 conduziram a uma adoo generalizada por parte de pequenas e microempresas. O mercado de aplicaes de gesto est saturado pelos grandes produtores de software nacionais: Primavera, Sage, etc. Estas aplicaes, tendo sido construdas para PMEs (Pequenas e Mdias Empresas) e mesmo grandes empresas, so excessivamente complexas e onerosas para muito pequenas e microempresas. O Modelo de negcio destes produtores de software primordialmente a venda de Licenas e contratos de Manuteno, nalguns casos atravs de redes de Agentes. Este projeto teve como objetivo o desenvolvimento de uma Aplicao de Faturao, de baixo custo, simples e cross-platform para ser comercializada em regime de aluguer em Pequenas e Micro Empresas.

O recurso s energias renovveis na actualidade um tema que atinge um grau de importncia primordial face crescente preocupao com o meio ambiente e o impacto negativo, que a produo de energia com base em combustveis fsseis tem. Esta importncia aliada a uma tendncia cada vez maior para a criao de solues de produo sustentvel de energia, tem obrigado ao desenvolvimento desta vertente do sector energtico e ao estudo e consequentemente implementao de solues integradas que permitam uma economia competitiva. Os hotis, sendo estabelecimentos comerciais que desenvolvem uma actividade que envolve, na generalidade, um nvel de consumo energtico considervel para garantir os seus servios bsicos de acomodao e lazer, tornam-se por excelncia alvos primordiais no que concerne ao seu elevado potencial de poupana de energia. O ramo da hotelaria, dada a sua especificidade e a natureza dos edifcios que comporta, torna-os em excelentes candidatos para anlise e optimizao energtica, e como tal um alvo de negcio para as empresas de comercializao de poupanas energticas. As empresas dedicadas aos servios de energia so conhecidas por ESCO (Energy Service Company ou Energy Savings Company). A sua actividade tem por base apresentar solues de energia, nomeadamente a implementao de projectos de poupana energtica que podem englobar produo, conservao e fornecimento de energia, bem como gesto de risco associada. O objectivo principal apresentar solues de optimizao e eficincia energtica levando sua implementao em casos reais de explorao em edifcios ou sectores especficos, rentabilizando o investimento e partilhando o lucro dessa rentabilizao com os clientes. No caso especfico dos hotis, mais concretamente um complexo de hotis, como o estudado neste trabalho, esta anlise pretende elaborar uma caracterizao das necessidades energticas do sector e apresentar um conjunto de solues energticas adequadas realidade hoteleira. tambm objecto de anlise, toda a aproximao de um modelo de negcio energtico a explorar por uma ESCO. O presente trabalho, realizado no mbito da parceria entre a Gebio e a Confraria do Bom Jesus, tem por objectivo demonstrar as bases do contracto de performance entre uma empresa ESCO (Gebio empresa concessionria do projecto) e um complexo de hotis (constitudo pelo Hotel do Lago, Hotel do Parque e Hotel do Templo), com vista a optimizar os consumos energticos para a produo de energia trmica capaz de corresponder s necessidades do complexo. Foi desenvolvido um estudo completo das necessidades trmicas do complexo, com vista a projectar uma soluo integrada de produo de energia trmica, com recurso a uma caldeira de biomassa, para os hotis. Foi realizado um levantamento extensivo dos consumos e custos energtico do complexo, nomeadamente para as guas quentes sanitrias. Desta anlise obtiveram-se os custos reais do sistema e com os mesmos foi possvel, numa primeira fase, elaborar os diversos projectos, hidrulico, elctricos e civil, de forma a se definir a soluo base e quais os oramentos previstos para a instalao de um sistema de produo a biomassa, e numa segunda fase foi estudada a viabilidade da assinatura de um contracto de performance entre a ESCO e o complexo de hotis.

Crowdsourcing is evolving into powerful outsourcing options for organizations by providing access to the intellectual capital within a vast knowledge community. Innovation brokering services have emerged to facilitate crowdsourcing projects by connecting up companies with potential solution providers within the wider crowd. Most existing innovation brokering services are primarily aimed at larger organizations, however, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) offer considerable potential for crowdsourcing activity since they are typically the innovation and employment engines in society; they are typically more nimble and responsive to the business environment than the larger companies. SMEs have very different challenges and needs to larger organizations since they have fewer resources, a more limited knowledge and skill base, and immature management practices. Consequently, innovation brokering for SMEs require considerably more support than for larger organizations. This paper identifies the crowdsourcing innovation brokerage facilities needed by SMEs, and presents an architecture that encourages knowledge sharing, development of community, support in mixing and matching capabilities, and management of stakeholders risks. Innovation brokering is emerging as a novel business model that is challenging concepts of the traditional value chain and organizational boundaries.
