In this work, it is presented a novel method for calculating some intrinsic parameters such as capture mean time, thermic emission mean time, capture probability and noise gain on quantum well infrared photodetectors. Such devices are built by depositing layers of semiconductors of different energy gap, forming quantum wells. The present method uses rate equations to describe the occupation of discrete states of the quantum wells, that together with noise gain equations given in literature, are solved self consistently. The input data of the method is experimental measurement of dark current (current measured with no relevant incident photon) versus applied bias. Recently, research on energy harvesting has increased substantially. Many researchers have concentrated their efforts to find the best configuration for these systems and to optimize their output power. In the process of energy harvesting, the electric energy is obtained by converting mechanics energy created by an environment vibration source by a transducer, for example, a thin piezoceramic film. That vibration source is, for example, a beam suffering some mechanic force able to generate a vibration in it, an oscillating beam is the best properly used example. Different mechanisms of electromechanical coupling have been developed to harvesting devices, and a particular interest has been given to the use of models that transform the mechanical vibration into electrical current using a piezoelectric element. In this paper we propose a model to energy harvesting from vibrations, from an oscillating beam, including non-linearities in the piezoelectric coupling and a non-ideal excitation in the material. From this model, it was developed a system to obtain some results about the harvested power by the material. It was demonstrated that the power captured was influenced by the effect of the nonlinearities of the piezoelectric coupling, modifying the system dynamic behavior

Over the last decades changes have occurred in communication within and between enterprises, made easier by technologies suchas E-commerce, Internet, ERP systems and remote meetings and there was a rapid progress in network technology, which has changed the way business is done. A standardized way to offer services over the internet is using web services. Web services are a kind of remote procedure call and are generally used to integrate systems, independent of language, both client and server. It is common to use several web services run in sequence to perform a business process. To this type of process, gives the name of workflow. Thus, Web services are the primary components of workflows. A tool that provides a way of visualizing the behavior of a workflow can assist the administrator and is required. The present work presents the development of a tool that allows the administrator to classify visually services components and evaluate their importance in the final performance of a workflow. As proof of concept we used several virtual servers and computers where each computer has received a set of web services. A proxy was added between each call of workflows collecting relevant information and storing them in a database for later analysis. The analysis was based on Quality of Service parameters

Osseointegration involves a cascade of biological events, which can be accelerated by modifying the micro and/or nanometric topography of dental implant surfaces. Considering that different treatment types modify the titanium surface giving it a more pronounced rough topography, and physicochemical changes that appear to positively influence the osseointegration process, a literature review was made on the main types of surface treatments and their influence on the biological and cellular aspects of osseointegration, with publications dating from 1969 until the present moment. Although the precise role of the implant surface on the osseointegration of dental implants is not completely clear, the specific effects of implant surface on bone regeneration, initial kinetics, and evolution of mechanical properties have shown to be quite promising. Thus, based on dental implant surface modifications, osseointegration can be defined as a process by which rigid asymptomatic fixation of an alloplastic material can be achieved and kept in close contact with bone tissue, being resistant to early and late functional loads. This process can be modulated by an appropriate treatment of the alloplastic material surface.

Organic- inorganic hybrid (HOI) are materials prepared with the combination of inorganic and organic components. The properties of a hybrid material are unique, not being the sum of each individual component added. This occurs because there is a synergism that depends of the chemical nature of organic and inorganic components, of the size and morphology of their domains. The sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) it's an anionic polymer obtained of the cellulose, very soluble in water in which forms both solutions themselves and gels. The sodium polyphosphate (NaPO3)n, known commercially as Graham Salt is the only polyphosphate soluble in water, and it's the polyphosphate with the longest chain. At the present work it was prepared and characterized new phosphate organic- inorganic hybrids films of carboxymethylcellulose / sodium phosphate and luminescent films of CMC/NaPO3 doped with europium chloride (EuCl3). The films where prepared in several proportions. At first, it was set the amount of water to be used and the amount of carboxymethylcellulose, changing the concentrations of sodium polyphosphate and europium chloride. After pre-establishing concentrations, for each film, the components were submitted to constant agitation and subsequent drying. The inorganic-organic hybrid films were characterized by, TG, DR-X, DMA, FT-IR, UV-Vis-NIR, RMN 31P e 13C and at last, a study of luminescence was made. The hybrid films obtained are transparent and macroscopically homogeneous, however, the MET measures showed the formation of micro-islands of polyphosphate along the material, this fact indicates a bigger fragmentation of the films and this is verified by DMA analysis which shows a smaller resistance of the film with the increase of the concentration of phosphate. Both spectrum FT-IR and RMN analysis of the films, don't show the formation of new bands of their precursors, CMC e NaPO3,....

The actual study goal is to test the Ellestad and Weltman protocol concordance in the prediction of VO2max in Futsal athletes. There was no significant difference between the two protocols, there was significant correlation between methods, but the Bland & Altman plotting shown very high amplitude in the Confident Interval at 95%.
