First Annual Report for the year ended 31st March, 1966

This is the first Annual report of the Cumberland River Authority on information of its activities and responsibilities on river management in its area between the beginning of April 1965, to the end of March 1966. The report contains 5 main sections on water resources, land drainage, fisheries, pollution, and finally the expenditure and income for the 12 month period. The first area that the report deals with is water resources, which includes periodical surveys, hydrometric schemes, acceptable flows, conservation works and a review of rainfall and river flow. The section on land drainage looks at work on improvement schemes, floods, charges and information on maintenance work carried out on rivers including Wampool, Waver, Marron, Irt, Esk, Eden, Caldew, Petteril, Eamont and Annas. The fisheries section covers 5 districts of the River Eden, Esk, Ellen, Derwent, and South West Cumberland. It includes angling information and a general report for salmon and sea trout, brown trout and freshwater fish. It also looks at fish hatchery, fisheries protection and byelaws including licence numbers issued for the different districts. The fourth section on pollution deals with water quality of the rivers and their tributaries from the same 5 areas mentioned above. It also covers information on sewage and trade effluents. The River Authorities preceded the Environment Agency which came into existence in 1996.

A criação da Associação Brasileira de Obstetrizes e Enfermeiros Obstetras (ABENFO) e sua participação no Movimento de Humanização do Parto e Nascimento (1989-2002)

Este estudo, de natureza histórico-social, tem como objeto a criação da Associação Brasileira de Obstetrizes e Enfermeiros Obstetras (ABENFO) e suas estratégias no Movimento de Humanização do Parto e Nascimento Brasileiro (1989-2002). A delimitação temporal do estudo abrange o período de 1989 a 2002. Os objetivos da pesquisa são: analisar a transição da Associação Brasileira de Obstetrizes (ABO) para Associação Brasileira de Obstetrizes e Enfermeiros Obstetras (ABENFO); analisar as estratégias elaboradas pela ABENFO para a atualização do habitus das agentes; analisar o fortalecimento do Movimento de Humanização do Parto e Nascimento empreendido pela ABENFO. O estudo apoia-se teoricamente nos conceitos desenvolvidos pelo sociólogo Pierre Bourdieu e utilizou o método da história oral temática. Na análise, houve a articulação de documentos escritos e depoimentos orais à luz do referencial teórico. Os resultados da pesquisa evidenciam que, no processo de surgimento da ABENFO, houve um período de aproximações de agentes que durou aproximadamente 15 anos. A primeira aproximação foi entre parteiras/obstetrizes e as enfermeiras no campo sindical; a segunda aproximação de agentes, desta vez pelo habitus profissional, foi de enfermeiras de saúde pública e enfermeiras obstétricas no campo hospitalar e científico; e a terceira aproximação foi entre as parteiras/obstetrizes com as enfermeiras obstétricas. Após essas aproximações, a enfermeira obstétrica assumiu a diretoria provisória da ABO, realizando, em seguida, a transição para a ABENFO. Após a transição, a ABENFO nacional consolidou-se como representante das enfermeiras obstétricas e obstetrizes. Em seguida, foi necessário criar estratégias para atualizar o habitus das agentes, tais como: Estratégias de fortalecimento da Associação no campo político da Enfermagem e da Saúde da Mulher; Estratégias de ampliação da sua representação nacional entre enfermeiras obstétricas; Estratégias para divulgação do capital social da ABENFO. Dentre as estratégias de divulgação, aconteceram três Congressos Brasileiros de Enfermagem Obstétrica e Neonatal (COBEONS) que fortaleceram o Movimento de Humanização do Parto e Nascimento, pois neste espaço circulou o capital sociocultural do movimento social entre as associadas, levando aos mesmos uma atualização do seu habitus, e, por outro lado, fortalecendo o Movimento por meio do reconhecimento. Portanto, o fortalecimento do processo de humanização do parto e nascimento brasileiro confirmou a hipótese de que a criação da ABENFO possibilitou a elaboração de estratégias que impulsionaram a atualização do habitus das agentes. Este estudo foi esclarecedor, na medida em que favoreceu a compreensão das circunstâncias de criação da ABENFO e sua participação como a única representante das enfermeiras obstétricas e obstetrizes no Movimento de Humanização do Parto e Nascimento, além de demonstrar o quanto estas agentes contribuíram para a sua consolidação.

Regional Fisheries Advisory Committee 20th February, 1989

This is the report from the Regional Fisheries Advisory Committee meeting, which was held on the 20th February, 1989. The report contains sections on fishing licence duties, Ombudsman’s Report, net licence allocation criteria, renewal of the Lune and Wyre net limitation order and fishery byelaws. The section on Ombudsman’s Report looks at the complaint against the Authority relating to the allocation of haaf net licences for the Solway Firth for 1988. The Fisheries Advisory Committee was part of the Regional Water Authorities, in this case the North West Water Authority. This preceded the Environment Agency which came into existence in 1996.

This is the report from the Regional Fisheries Advisory Committee meeting, which was held on the 22nd May, 1989. The report contains sections on fishing licence duties, Ombudsman’s investigations, prosecutions for netting offences, eel netting in River Ribble Estuary, fish mortality incidents and fishing licence sales. The section on Ombudsman’s Report looks at the complaint against the Authority relating to the allocation of haaf net licences for the Solway Firth. The section on fish mortality incidents focuses on fish Mortalities in River Laneshaw and Colne Water on 26/27 March 1989. The Fisheries Advisory Committee was part of the Regional Water Authorities, in this case the North West Water Authority. This preceded the Environment Agency which came into existence in 1996.

River Dart Scale Reading Investigation Report on the 1966 Season

This is the fifth River Dart Scale Reading Investigation Report on the 1966 Season by the Devon River Board. The object of this investigation is to examine, by means of scale-reading, the general biology of the salmon population of the River Dart. It reviews the methods used for the collection of scales and examination of the materials. It shows the results of the survey and the number of scales studied from each of the various sea-age classes, time of running with distribution of the sea-age groups throughout the season, fish sizes and smolt ages at migration. All it summarized in tables, and figures are included plotting weight distributions for each age classes and frequency distributions. It also compares the results of previous reports.

River Exe Fisheries Survey 1966-1967

This is the River Exe Fisheries Survey 1966-1967 by the Devon River Authority. This is the fifth Fisheries Survey to be carried out in the initial series, other surveys having been carried out on the Rivers Teign, Torridge, Dart and Erme. The object of the survey was to examine the distribution and relative abundance of salmonid fish in the river system, in order to assess the possibility, or desirability, of increasing salmon smolt production of the river by artificial propagation or other means. The survey was carried out from middle May to end of July in 1966 when further survey work was prevented by high water levels, and from the end of June to the end of September in 1967. It contains a brief introduction of general aspects of the catchment, chemistry, pollution, biology and fisheries in the river, methodology that looks at the selected transects and techniques for sampling, results and recommendations. The results goes through totals of all salmonid fish caught, adults, parrs and estimations of parr population individually for salmo salar and salmo trutta. Maps with survey sections and fish indices along with tables with size distributions and totals of salmonids found are attached.

Salmonid & freshwater Fisheries statistics England & Wales 1989

This is the Salmonid & Freshwater Fisheries Statistics for England & Wales 1989 produced by the National Rivers Authority (NRA) in 1989. This report is focused on the maintenance, improvement and development of fisheries of England and Wales. This report is the first on salmon and migratory trout catch statistics for England and Wales published by the National Rivers Authority (NRA). From 1989 onwards, these statistics will appear each year as NRA fisheries statistics reports replacing the Data Report Series which was published by the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food (MAFF) Directorate of Fisheries Research. This report makes a general review of different catches: Northumbria, Yorkshire, Anglian, Thames, Southern, Wessex, South West, Severn-Trent, Welsh and North West.

Breeding populations of seabirds in California, 1989-1991. Volume I - population estimates

In 1989-1991, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service surveyed breeding populations of seabirds on the entire California coast. This study was sponsored by the Minerals Management Service in relation to outer continental shelf oil and gas leasing. At 483 nesting sites (excluding terns and skimmers in southern California), we estimated 643,307 breeding birds of 21 seabird species including: 410 Fork-tailed Storm-petrel (Oceanodroma furcata); 12,551 Leach's Storm-petrel (O. leucorhoa); 7,209 Ashy Storm-petrel (O. homochroa); 274 Black Storm-petrel (O. melania); 11,916 Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis); 10,037 Double-crested Cormorant (Phalacrocorax auritus); 83,394 Brandt's Cormorant (P. penicillatus); 14,345 Pelagic Cormorant (P. pelagicus); 888 Black Oystercatcher (Haemotopus bachmani); 4,764 California Gull (Larus californicus); 61,760 Western Gull (L. occidentalis); 2,838 Caspian Tern (Sterna caspia) (excluding southern California); 3,550 Forster's Tern (S. forsteri) (excluding southern California); 272 Least Tern (S. albifrons) (excluding southern California); 351,336 Common Murre (Uria aalge); 15,470 Pigeon Guillemot (Cepphus columba); 1,821 Marbled Murrelet (Brachyramphus marmoratus); 1,760 Xantus' Murrelet (Endomychura hypoleuca); 56,562 Cassin's Auklet (Ptychoramphus aleuticus); 1,769 Rhinoceros Auklet (Cerorhinca monocerata); and 276 Tufted Puffin (Fratercula cirrhata). The inland, historical or hybrid breeding status of American White Pelican (P. erythrorynchus), American Oystercatcher (H. palliatus), Heermann's Gull (L. heermanni), Ring-billed Gull (L. delawarensis), Glaucous-winged Gull (L. glaucescens) and Black Tern (Chlidonias niger) are discussed. Estimates for Gull-billed Tern (S. nilotica), Royal Tern (S. maxima), Elegant Tern (S. elegans) and Black Skimmer (Rhynchops niger) will be included in the final draft of this report. Overall numbers were slightly lower than reported in 1975-1980 surveys (summarized in Sowls et al. 1980. Catalog of California seabird colonies. U.S. Dept. Int., Fish Wildl. Serv., Biol. Serv. Prog., FWS/OBS 37/80). Recent declines were found or suspected for Fork-tailed Storm-petrel, Leach's Storm-petrel, White Pelican, Black Tern, Caspian Tern, Least Tern, Common Murre and Marbled Murrelet. Recent increases were found or suspected for Brown Pelican, Double-crested cormorant, California Gull, Western Gull, Forster's Tern and Rhinoceros Auklet. Similar numbers were found for other species or trends could not be determined without additional surveys, studies and/or more in-depth comparisons with previous surveys. The status of terns and skimmers in southern California has not yet been finalized.

Esse também é um período onde se nota o esgotamento do Milagre econômico, com enorme inflação, que acarretou diretamente no aumento do custo de vida e, para os torcedores, na majoração do preço dos ingressos para os jogos de futebol. A alternativa encontrada é uma série de boicotes e greves das torcidas no afã de reduzir o valor das entradas, contando com ampla cobertura da mídia, especializada, Jornal dos Sports, Revista Placar, ou a mais geral, Jornal do Brasil. Nosso objetivo é compreender as diversas iniciativas tomadas pela ASTORJ para alcançar suas vitórias, o discurso presente em suas lideranças, e a maneira como foi construída essa relação dialética entre torcidas e órgãos da imprensa e, para tal, analisaremos reportagens de jornais, revistas e de colunas como A Voz da Galera, presente no Jornal dos Sports, que se somam a entrevistas realizadas por nós junto a figuraschave da Associação das Torcidas Organizadas do Rio de Janeiro.
