A teoria de Rensis Likert e o perfil organizacional da Universidade do Amazonas

Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo verificar a conveniência e adequação do modelo de Rensis Likert a uma Universidade - no caso a do Amazonase ã identificação dos seus estilos organizacionais através da aplicação de seu instrumental, técnicas de mensuração das variáveis organizacionais reI acionadas com o comportamento humano, e da construção dos perfis, exame de sua concentração nos quatro Sistemas Gerenciais de Likert e comparaçao com o Sistema 4 de Likert. Os resultados não só demonstraram a conveniência da aplicação do modelo, como também permitiram avaliar sua adequação ao estudo dos perfis organizacionais da Universidade e a identificação de seus estilos administrativos e formas de organização humana.

Hygienic behavior of the stingless bee Plebeia remota (Holmberg, 1903) (Apidae, Meliponini)

We investigated hygienic behavior in 10 colonies of Plebeia remota, using the pin-killed method. After 24 h the bees had removed a mean of 69.6% of the dead brood. After 48 h, the bees had removed a mean of 96.4% of the dead brood. No significant correlation was found between the size of the brood comb and the number of dead pupae removed, and there was no apparent effect of the origin and the condition of the colony on the hygienic behavior of the bees. Plebeia remota has an efficiency of hygienic behavior superior to that of three of the other four stingless bee species studied until now.

The knowledge gap: A perspective on trade, industry, technology and policy from pre-war Australian music technology manufacturing (1903-30)

Australia struggles to achieve economic competitiveness, prevent expansion of the trade deficit and develop value-added production despite applications of policy strategies from protectionism to trade liberalisation. This article argues that these problems were emerging at the turn of the century, and that an investigation of music technology manufacturing in the first two decades of this century reveals fundamental problems in the conduct of relevant policy analysis. Analysis has focused on the trade or technology gap which is only symptomatic of an underlying knowledge gap. The article calls for a knowledge policy approach which can allow protection without the negative effects of isolation from global markets and without having to resort to unworkable utopian free-trade dogma. A shift of focus from a 'goods traded' view to a knowledge transaction (or diffusion) perspective is advocated.

Letters that construct limits: intellectual and political projects in the letters of Capistrano de Abreu to Barao do Rio Branco (1886-1903)

The intention of this paper is to analyze the letters from Capistrano de Abreu to Barao do Rio Branco in the years between 1886 and 1903. The focus will be given to the divergences around the notion of territorial formation, a basic concept for these authors who were thinking about the construction of a historical narrative at the end of the 19(th) and beginning of the 20(th) century. Later, the question is the construction of the craft of the historian in the letters of Capistrano de Abreu and his distinction and proximity to the ideas of the Barao do Rio Branco.

Rui Barbosa e a política externa brasileira: considerações sobre a Questão Acreana e o Tratado de Petrópolis (1903)

O artigo trata do papel que Rui Barbosa teve - direta e indiretamente - na solução da Questão Acreana, finalizada com o Tratado de Petrópolis, em 1903, e sugere que a sua participação no processo de negociação teve influência em suas atividades futuras, apesar de seu posicionamento contrário ao desfecho da questão.
