Aspectos linguístico-expressivos dos contos de Ana Maria Machado e das poesias de José Paulo Paes como motivação para a leitura

A presente pesquisa objetiva, em essência, discutir questões referentes à expressividade em textos literários, como também observar a riqueza de suas múltiplas possibilidades de construção estética. Esse material é burilado pelos recursos fônicos, morfossintáticos e léxico-semânticos do sistema linguístico. Foram utilizados como corpus para o trabalho os contos de Ana Maria Machado e as poesias de José Paulo Paes, produções inseridas no Programa Literatura em Minha Casa e que sensibilizaram os leitores pelo jogo verbal primoroso, resultado das escolhas e das combinações dos autores. Foram tomados como referência para análise dos textos os recursos linguístico-expressivos neles observados, pretendendo demonstrar o potencial expressivo, com vistas a propor alternativa pedagógica, de caráter produtivo para o ensino, despertando a sensibilidade frente ao texto literário e contribuindo para promover o prazer de ler dos alunos do ensino fundamental. Biologia populacional e reprodutiva do camarão sete-barbas na Baía de Santos, São Paulo

We investigated the sexual maturity, reproductive period and juvenile recruitment (both associated with salinity and temperature of bottom water) and sex-ratio of Xiphopenaeus kroyeri in Santos Bay, São Paulo. Monthly samples were obtained from June 2008 through May 2009 along four transects. Individuals were measured, sexed and the developmental stage of the reproductive system was macroscopically determined. The mean carapace length of females was larger than that of males. Females attained physiological maturity with 25.5 mm and males with 16.8 mm. The reproductive period was continuous with higher proportions of reproductive females in autumn. Although not significant, in February occurs a peak of reproductive females similar to March. An intermediate peak of these females occurs between August and October and it contributed to the recruitment in summer. The smallest amount of juveniles after the main peak of spawning (February, March and April) can be explained by migration or consequences of open access for fishery that occurs on June. The overall sex-ratio was approximately 1:1. However, when considering the spatial distribution, we observed a greater amount of reproductive females in shallow waters in the bay. The differential distribution between the sexes could be associated with appropriated areas to spawn. The current legal off-season occurs between March and May, and, according to our results of the frequency of reproductive females, we suggest the inclusion of February in the off-season.

La présente recherche examine dans son ensemble l' uvre considérable du "paulista" José Paulo Paes da Silva (1926-1998). La première partie de la recherche fait connaître l'importante activité professionnelle de cet auteur, en situant dans leur contexte particulier les différentes modalités du travail qu'il a régulièrement accompli en tant qu'"éditoraire", traducteur et essayiste. La deuxième partie est consacrée à la lecture critique de sa poésie épigrammatique. La riche bibliographie qui est le résultat de l'effort intellectuel de l'écrivain, est consignée à la fin du volume. Il s'agit donc d'une étude ayant pour but d'esquisser la physionomie littéraire d'une personnalité qui a marqué de sa présence la culture brésilienne dans la seconde moitié du XXe siècle

Acute toxicity of waters from the urban drainage channels of Santos (São Paulo, Brazil)

The objective of this study was to evaluate the toxicity of water which flows toward the beaches of Santos, SP, Brazil. Water samples were collected from eight urban drainage channels and a small creek, in March, April and August 2005. For each sample, some physical-chemical parameters were analyzed: pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, salinity, presence of free chlorine and total ammonia contents. Acute toxicity tests (48h) with Daphnia similis were also performed with the samples. The level of ammonia was relatively high in the majority of the samples (≥ 1.5 mg/L), and free chlorine was measurable in most of them. Acute toxicity was observed in four water samples (stations 3, 4, 5 and 7), at least in one occasion. The toxicity was positively correlated with the ammonia concentrations and salinity. Because acute toxicity was detected, actions aiming to control the pollution sources and improve the water quality are recommended.

José Paulo Paes: o poeta da sensibilidade

Pensar que a Poesia escrita para crianças não deve apresentar complexidade temática e textual é considerar a Literatura Infantil, em suas mais variadas tipologias textuais, um discurso não dialógico para o leitor-mirim. Por isso, neste texto, discutiremos o problema da atual formação do leitor de poesia na escola e sua efetiva interação com o texto poético. Esta interação com a estética verbal, pressupõe que o leitor seja aquele capaz de penetrar gradualmente nas camadas profundas do texto, o que nem sempre acontece no ambiente escolar, seja pelo despreparo do professor diante da poesia seja pela pouca ou má divulgação da poesia infantil de qualidade. Palavras-chave: Ensino; poesia infantil; sensibilidade.

A study of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in risk groups in the city of Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazil

Monitoring the extent of and trends in multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is a priority of the Brazilian National Tuberculosis Control Programme. The current study aimed to estimate the incidence of MDR-TB, describe the profile of TB drug resistance in risk groups and examine whether screening for MDR-TB adhered to the recommended guidelines. A descriptive study that examined diagnosed cases of pulmonary TB was conducted in the city of Santos, Brazil, between 2000-2004. Of the 2,176 pulmonary TB cases studied, 671 (30.8%) met the criteria for drug sensitivity testing and, of these cases, 31.7% (213/671) were tested. Among the tested cases, 9.4% were resistant to one anti-TB drug and 15% were MDR. MDR was observed in 11.6% of 86 new TB cases and 17.3% of 127 previously treated cases. The average annual incidence of MDR-TB was 1.9 per 100,000 inhabitants-years. The extent of known MDR-TB in the city of Santos is high, though likely to be underestimated. Our study therefore indicates an inadequate adherence to the guidelines for MDR-TB screening and suggests the necessity of alternative strategies of MDR-TB surveillance.

Proposta di traduzione delle sonorità nella poesia per bambini in Brasile nei testi di Sônia Barros, Cecília Meireles, José Paulo Paes e Ruy Proença

In questo elaborato, articolato in quattro sezioni principali, propongo la traduzione di poesie per l’infanzia scritte dagli autori brasiliani Sônia Barros, Cecília Meireles, José Paulo Paes e Ruy Proença, con attenzione particolare alla riproduzione delle sonorità originali. Nella prima sezione, presento un excursus riassuntivo della storia della letteratura brasiliana. Al fine di creare dei riferimenti cronologici e culturali per il lettore dell’elaborato, fornisco nozioni sulla nascita e lo sviluppo della letteratura in Brasile dalle origini fino ai giorni nostri, dando informazioni relative ad autori, opere e correnti letterarie e, quando necessario, citando avvenimenti storici particolarmente importanti. Accanto a questa contestualizzazione più generica, i paragrafi presentano approfondimenti sull’evoluzione che la letteratura dedicata all’infanzia ha avuto in Brasile attraverso i secoli. La seconda sezione si concentra sugli autori delle poesie tradotte, ovvero Sônia Barros, Cecília Meireles, José Paulo Paes e Ruy Proença. Per ognuno di essi riporto le notizie biografiche più importanti, le tappe della carriera letteraria, la linea di pensiero e di scrittura che li caratterizza maggiormente e i titoli delle loro opere più famose. Successivamente troviamo la sezione dedicata al lavoro di traduzione. Ognuna delle tredici poesie è presentata a fianco della propria traduzione, così da poter cogliere già a un primo sguardo le peculiarità che caratterizzano l’originale e versione italiana da me proposta. Infine, l’ultima sezione dell’elaborato riguarda il commento della traduzione. In questa parte motivo l’atteggiamento traduttivo tenuto nei confronti dei testi, cosciente delle peculiarità del genere poesia e in particolare di quella rivolta a un pubblico di giovanissimi. In seguito, analizzo dettagliatamente quali sono stati i problemi riscontrati durante il mio lavoro e le strategie che ho adottato per superarli.
